Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Thread

Older BF games also allowed for 64 players. I’m sure that has a great deal to do with it.

In response to Arica Harbor, I love that map except for the first point. Alpha is able to be shelled from the attackers’ spawn which means that the start is always the attackers sitting in their base while they spam mouse one. Kinda annoying.

The conquest version of a map sucking is surprising to you by this point? BC2 fucked up conquest hard, I thought everyone had migrated to everything else.

I’ll def check out Port Valdez Conquest map as well. That actually sounds great as well…

Fuck, i haven’t played in few days. Was waiting for the new shit.

And yeah, that Valparaiso? thing with the helos and c4 crashing into objectives, real desperate teams go for that non stop.

Laguna Presa rush is fucking awesome.

Just got my platinum

I’d like to believe that isn’t accurate. I’d LIKE to!

Seriously, any disgruntled person can loading up Excel 2007 and make a chart, so I take this type of stuff with a grain of salt. I’m in no way defending the M60 though, because that gun needs to be toned down.

It’s morning, I skipped breakfast, so I’ve been reading Laguna Presa as Lasagna Pasta. =[

True, I totally forgot about the older BFs supporting up to 64 players. I normally avoided those servers so I looked over that fact.

And about the first point in Arica Harbor, thats true but usually the first points in all of the maps are easy to take some way or another due to UAV or Vehicle bombing with C4.

Where my 360 players at? Cant stand playing with the typical XBL retards

DN3000, I take back what I said about shotguns. I like the 870CS with Slugs but that’s about it. Other than that mehhh.

I realized that console users probably have an easier time piloting the heli’s due to their analog sticks giving them variable-to-maximum pitch and yaw, where you have to constantly swipe with the mouse in the desired direction to get near max speed. Lets not mention the awful negative acceleration that occurs when you try to swipe too fast.

In this case, Consoles: 1 PC: 0

I’m gonna try to hook up my Logitech pad with analog sticks later and see if I can use that when I pilot the heli.

Speaking of consoles, aside from the one Beta frag video from page 5 or 6 of this thread, all the others I’ve seen have been done on console. They look pretty good too. There’s no demo record and output to raw feature and I think the game is too intense to get a reasonable Fraps output?

How are console gamers making those MW2 and BC2 commentary videos? Cubanned, as a PC user how are you doing it?

Ok am I the only asshole that got all their weapons, specializtions, etc., wiped off the face of the earth?

I use either WeGame’s client or Xfire’s video recording feature.

I’m using a 5870, fraps at half screen record and I put the record frame rate @ 120. I get about 50-60 fps when recording.

Don’t freak out. It happens to everyone on a random occasion. You just need
to reconnect to the servers, or log out of whatever server you just joined,
and try again.

If what I’ve been reading is right that will make it much easier to fly, as the average PC player hates using keyboard and mouse compared to the feel of a controller.

That said don’t expect to pull of some of the absurd maneuvers console pilots do, as like many other things in the game, it’s tweaked for consoles compared to PC. On the PA forums there’s a detailed guide by CarbonFire to change your something.ini file to get rid of mouse smoothing, fix turret turn speeds, and general mouse fixes that the game should have offered innately to begin with. Presumably changing values in the same document you could get the Helis to fly like their console brethren, but as far as I’ve seen no one has done it yet.

For reference, if you have the ability to do so, try shooting down a heli, especially a missile-toting attack heli, with a CG (fastest moving rocket) and AA weapons on the 360 or PS3, then try doing on the PC. If you can pilot well to compare even better. PC even the best pilots using a gamepad can be shot down, not necessarily easy to do all the time, but it’s possible with any AV weapon and the AA weapons. If you can do it on console the pilot sucked flat out; legit, and I mean truly legit pilots, however rare you may come across by doing premade squads and ever so rarely getting paired against other 8+ sized premade groups, the attack helis get impossible to shoot down barring luck or some serious espionage shenanigans like sneaking into their base, tagging the Helo with the tracer.

You can even compare YouTube videos, the PC pilots no matter how good can’t do the same maneuvers as quickly or efficiently as a console pilot, so adding that to a less precise aiming device leads to console BC2 having a serious Heli advantage to the point that Rush Attackers on Port Valdez and Innocent Island become retarded on console if the Defenders know what to do at certain points.

Thankfully most people can’t fly for shit, myself included, to be the type of douche I’m referencing in a Heli.

I’m assuming the opposing team cannot see that you’ve tag their vehicle, correct?

They can tell if they’ve got a tracer on it, it’ll bring up a lock on warning.

I appreciate the info, and I agree with some of your points. Console gamers benefit from having to tweak or configure NOTHING! I’ve tried the tweaks that you mentioned already, they really improve the controls.

Don’t be fooled though, while a lot of the tweaks out there now should’ve been options in the game (mouse smoothing, no neg accel in turning etc.) it’s really up to the developers to add them. DICE really fucked up on this. The way first person shooter controls are handled on consoles are quite a bit different than on PC. I learned this the hard way researching the XIM for 360 and PS3. Consoles have accel and dead zones to worry about, but since everyone has to deal with it, its a none issue.

I wouldn’t say the mouse is less precise, its just that the controller with analog sticks happens to be better for piloting aircraft because it most closely mimics the flight stick. KB+M for FPS, game pad or arcade stick for most everything else.
