It’s impossible to avoid the comparisons. Especially after playing the single player.
Irennicus, good games dude
While I absolutely HATE the amount of snipers in this game (I was attacking on Isle Innocentes with 8 of my 12 team mates being recon) I’m actually starting to see a different balance issue. I think the sniper madness will die down after people realize that it does less for the team than most other roles…but medics are a little silly. The major problem with the medic is the fact that they kept the defibrillator the exact same was it was in BF2 while changing up the spawn system. Several medics + spawning on squad mates make it so that your team never “really” has to lose ground. Hell, sometimes the best way to fight back when you’re getting fired at as a medic is to resuscitate everyone you can so that you have a zombie army fighting for you.
I think that they should add some time to the paddles animation. Instead of just placing them on someone and rubbing them afterwards the character should be forced to pull out a generator, turn it on, and then hit the body with it. That would make it much less of a ‘free res’ and require the medic to be much more careful about who they chose to revive.
Absolutely, you’re a pretty good BC2 player. Out of curiosity, when do you ACTUALLY get the magnum ammunition? My game says I was supposed to get it at rank 13 (and ceramic body armor at rank 12) but I got neither of those when I ranked up. Instead I got the revolver and the burst handgun.
Are you guys getting most of your points in rush or conquest?
I get it from healing and reviving. Lol, on a serious note though, never really looked too much into it.
And as much I hate admit it, Irennicus has a good point for paddle fixing. It’s simply way too good. There are times when all I did was run from one building to another, paddling mother fuckers, hide behind a wall, revive the same fucker, hide, revive him again, hide, run to the other building and repeat the same process.
If you play a rush map where each spot is fought for good and hard and it goes close to the end then I think you’ll get the most points on average that way.
Killzone 2 had the same problem during its beta where the revive gun was recharging just as quickly as the paddles do here in BC2. In the final version, they increased the wait time considerably.
I think you get all the “tier 2” stuff starting at 15.
Please, you guys are off your rockers complaining about medics being OP’ed… A medic has not weapon to take out heavy vehicles or air, and a lot of times when a medic is reviving a team member, he gets sniped. You won’t get absurd points playing a medic as you would a sniper. At least as a medic, you are in THE heart of the action helping your team. Snipers just camp and don’t move the line. Wow, so much fun… yeah right.
What I would like is a way to find the position of the sniper after they killed me. Is there a way?
Also, I may get this for the PC. It would be nice to have on my list of pc games to get: Starcraft, Diablo, BF, SF…
It depends on the maps, but medics and assault are usually right up there in terms of points per minute. Most of the sniper points come from stacking bonuses like getting a defensive kill and motion/normal spotting; and the occasional multi kills with mortar because squads fortify the same areas in rush maps.
I will be on later today. I will be running some Rush or Conquest games.
I plan on playing around 2- whenever EST.
PSN name = Medac
on the bc2 pc player list, who are on the east coast?
add me “faisal”
You get the Body Armor at 14 and the Magnum Ammo at 15.
I find that I get more points in Rush mode.
I started playing hard-core yesterday since normal core would always kick my team and drop connection, and I found that the VSS fully auto sniper is really good for hardcore! I’m gonna be giving the m93r burst pistol a try too now that hard-core is growing on me.
I know, it’s just a stupid comparison to make since MW2 is by no means a good game. If someone wanted to compare it to cod4 it would still be a bad enough comparison, but closer than MW2.
I’ve been using the VSS almost exclusively since I unlocked it when playing Recon. Normal scope with extra ammo spec., 12X scope, or red dot scope for Rush when playing as attackers, it holds up very well in normal mode for me. 9/10 times I kill someone in 2-3 shots just like the SVU(? the silenced semi-auto) or the type 88 (or whatever the loud semi-auto is) with the second or third shot being a head shot. For moving targets I’d even say 8/10 times I don’t feel like it’s any less accurate than the other two semis and people drop even when sprinting often enough. It feels like a great gun that goes overlooked with people wanting to use the m24, GOL, or m95 and nothing else.
Server has some serious issues…
Official Twitter => “We are aware of the connectivity issues that are happening on PC and 360 right now. We are sorry for this and working on solving the problem.”
They should keep a stat track of how many time, and how many variations, of that message get posted over the lifetime of this game. I’m sure they’re trying to fix it, the last thing they need are people saying don’t buy it the servers suck, and likewise release week one hasn’t even ended yet, but the game’s damn good, we just want to play EA/DICE/Server Gods/etc…

Here’s a cleaner version of the den’s stats page, which is found here => http://denkirson.xanga.com/722757523/bad-company-2/
Info. is the same, just easier to read to me, found on Den’s forums. Still BETA info. so some things might be off or flat out wrong but won’t know until they data mine the full release.
This is the forum post I found it at where he highlights a few other things as well.
I’m not off my rocker at all. The difference between the Sniper (not Recon) and the Medic is that the Sniper rarely ACTUALLY helps his team. Sure, he’s sitting back there getting kills, but if he’s on the attacking side there’s no tickets to target on defense nor is he moving to take points/destroy M-COM stations. Yes, he’s annoying, but he’s not actually helping you guys, the GOOD Recons are sniping, placing motion sensors, calling down mortar stikes, and knifing people with the aid of the brush.
You bring up the point of not being able to fight vehicles…but this isn’t exactly true. Is reviving two engineers not a version of fighting a tank? You can also still throw grenades under armored vehicles in this game to damage them. And either way, most of the time ANYONE sees a vehicle (even Engineer) the best initial reaction is to get the fuck out of dodge. Not having a vehicle blow-up button in your hand doesn’t hurt you that badly in this game (just ask our friend the Assault).
On the flip side, when the Medic is doing his VERY easy job, he not only restores reinforcement tickets, he gets access to the easiest to use weapon in the game, and he probably scores more on average with the aid of defibrillator/med box/LMG fire than any Recon is getting in the same server. But the main thing here is…because he’s doing all this stuff, his squad doesn’t have to lose ground until they make a SERIOUS mistake. Like getting 4 people into one room so that they can get killed by a single noob tube mistake. This gets even sillier in maps that don’t allow much in the way of vehicles like Nelson Bay.
Like I said, Battlefield has had a version of ‘reviving’ people for a long-ass time. It’s pretty much the exact same as it was in Battlefield 2, but the spawn system is completely different. This is turning defibrillators into the BEST gadget/weapon in the game hands-down.
P.S. If your server is playing with kill cam on then that’s a really easy way to spot a sniper. Which by the way, I was playing on a Hardcore server that STILL HAD THE FUCKING KILL CAM ON. I mean what the fuck, your idea is to make a game as realistic as possible and then you accentuate the respawn feature? Weak.
Excellent points.
For example, I only play Recon when I have some friends on, because then you can relay enemy positions, whats happening in the base, where you are mortaring etc. One of my favorite things to do is mortar a house that the Mcom station is in so that my teammates can sneak in the back.
That doesn’t work with Pugs as much.
In the Beta I was averaging 5000 points as medic and only like 2000 points as recon on Very good days.
I’m gonna be online at 10:30 PM Central time tonight. Anyone that wants to shoot people with me gimme a holler. I’m pretty much maxed out on Assault/Engineer so I’ll go either way.
