Well, even though I dont play tvc (wish I could) banning of big characters sounds stupid. I mean they put them in the game specifically so that you could have a different approach and feel when playing as and against them right? Maybe I’d have a different opinion if I actually played the game but this just sounds stupid right now.

I love TvC and it needs all the support it can get, but real talk; Id rather you all not play at all if you are going to start acting like its okay to ban shit on a vote AT tournament because a big name player doesnt know how to beat it. Ridiculous.
You don’t need insight on this topic. You just need to play. Lightan has massive problems, the same problems he had in the last version of the game, and remains probably the worst character on the select screen. These characters are not unlockable boss extras. They are on the character select screen in the japanese arcade version at first boot up. PTX is pretty deadly, but the best PTX in the country (ll.nd) thinks he is weaker now than in the last game, in which he was only upper-mid tier.
Bottom line, again, this isnt smash. We don’t ban something because someone lost to it, or because the attendies of the event would rather not deal with it. The giants are not getting a ban, and im pretty shocked that this happened at the tournament. Different does not equal bad.
And no, the characters were never ever banned in Japan.
Considering that both giants are HARD COUNTERED by Tekkeman, Blade, and Megaman. Then countered, not as hard, by Saki, Alex, Yatterman1, and Joe Condor and probably other characters.
They’re weaknesses? They’re susceptible to EVERY command grab in the game and EVERY level 3, and get shit on by anyone with a spammable projectile. They’re so extremely slow that anyone with a good projectile keep away game can literally run away the whole match and win.
Do you know what happens to a giant that gets hit with a command grab that doesnt immediately ground them, like Tekkamans? They get fucking juggled like a NORMAL character. Yea. Meaning you can do an aerial BnB on a god damn giant like it was a normal character just because they get caught in a Tekkaman assist. You dont even HAVE to play giants differently with Tekkaman assist. Just get a successful assist off and there you go, giants are reduced to normal characters that get juggled like you were juggling Ken or Ryu.
The only giant that is capable of keeping up with pairs is PTX. That’s it.
I suggest you tell everyone who went to that tourney to either learn the match up with their mains or pick up a new character for the sole purpose of countering giants.
Basic Sausage - I will money match your Lightan for $2,000 a game. I am THAT confident that he is the worst character in the game.

Correction.I didnt call Justin because to tell him to correct anything because this is my first time in this thread since the tournament.If it that big of a deal to me whether or not you put Joe as first or not i wouldve wrote it in the thread.Justin called me after the tournament and asked me what happened and i said Joe won tvc because he wouldve beaten Sanford since Sanford doesnt play the game and i told him Sanford won sf4.You can ask me if i called him to tell that next time though.

TVC Issue
Guys based on what I’m getting from what is written, it sounds like you guys are “upset” about something that we’re clearly trying to discuss and fix. I left room to discuss this because I do need insight on the matter so I can make more “Educated” and “Sound” decisions to help the TVC scene grow. I’m on your side Keits! Don’t burn me. I left it to vote because I have no knowledge of the game and I did not want to have the tournament collapse to please 1 person using a character. The entire entrance wanted banned the big boys banned.
As I said about Japan…I don’t give 2 cent what is going in Japan, Russia, London, Jamaica, the North Pole…it is irrelevant. What is relevant is what is going on in NYC’s gaming scene. I’m coming to you and any other TVC experienced players to help use “YOUR” knowledge to help the scene grow here.
So this is what I got so far.
#1. There are counter characters to the Giants.
#2. (As if this matters) The characters are not banned in Japan.

From my end Justin just told me that you told him that Joe won. Which you confirmed saying. The problem with that is by telling Justin that LI Joe “WON” rather than saying he “SPLIT” it gave Justin the impression that Joe actually beat Sanford in Grand Finals double set and I just cheated Joe by putting Sanford first. Which is why Justin then came in to clarify the situation. You gave “INSUFFICIENT” information which led to a misunderstanding that eventually led to bickering.
Regardless if Joe could have or would have done it telling someone that a person “Defeated” someone in tournament especially when they did not play is a complete lie and creates issues. For now the matter is resolved. Next time if you are going to give out information, please give out the details so that there are no misunderstandings. If you want to talk about this more, call the ARC. Let’s keep this off the thread.
Its not just counter characters to the giants. Most character can legitimately fight them and have ways to put serious hurt on them. If you ban them, you’ll never find out how this works. I’m trying not to rage, I know you are on my side TriForce… its just upsetting when people who are part of a competitive scene act this way.
The giants were never banned in any territory in the last version of TvC. Lightan was the worst character in the game, and PTX did okay but got counterpicked pretty hard.
Yeah the fact is neither of them is good enough to even warrant any discussion of a ban. Lightan is by all accounts, still one of the worst characters in the game, and if people are getting beaten by him, it’s only because they aren’t aware of how to fight him correctly yet. It’s like banning guile in SF4 because you don’t know how to get around his sonic booms. If anybody can point to any evidence at all that the giants are ban-worthy, I’d like to see it.
Also this half-assed MM accepting on the part of Sausage really isn’t helping the ban case at all.
If Gold Lightan gets unbanned then I’ll be upset mainly cause i was planning on using him the whole tournament and I know for SURE I would have won. I still think he shouldnt have been banned “on the spot” because there was no agreement before the tournament that giants were banned or that there would be any kind of discussion of rulings during the tournament. So i think if he should be unbanned i deserve at the very least free entry to the next one.

ive always lived in LI nothings changed. But i have my money saved and im eagerly awaiting the next battlefield so i can test how all my trainings been going down. I especially hope aquasilk is there because ive been doing some intense training in the gouken Vs. gief matchup with IFC Zangief and im feeling pretty confident in that matchup now considering ive beaten some giefs who have destroyed me before
I respect Triforce so much for being so nice.
I would just tell him to STFU stop bitchin and learn how to beat him. We all have to deal with the character. Complaining is just taking more time away from you learning the match.

I was drinking which is unprofessional but yeah i lost to 2 sagats lost to eric kim by missing a combo and the other one i just lost but it was 2-1 against both of them. Sagat is maad good but he isn’t unbeatable. And everyone has a bad day and that was one of mine. People think though that sagat is easy to use which isn’t, he’s hard to play at high level.
