Balrog's 'What went wrong' and 'Critique' video thread

against ryu you are stationary too much. You also try to headbutt too many jumpins. move on your feet and use c.HP. Use more normals over special attacks i think is something you shoul do. You’re tapping c.LP too slow for bnb headbutt combos, speed it up. Also always try to punishw ith c.MP headbutt on whiffed DPs… if you can’t then c.LP is fine but you sometimes threw out just naked heabutts to punish a DP.

damn, this rog has nice use of Focus attacks against sim in the corner. thanks for the vids

here is a funny one of me getting DESTROYED by | BEHR |

Hmm… A few general suggestions:

You could have AA’d some of his jump ins IMO. Would’ve put a serious dent in his HP meter and would have made him more reluctant to lay the pressure on you.

You have a bad habit of doing c. lp, c. lp, c. HK. Saw you do it at least once in round 3, and I think you ate an SRK reversal for trying it in round 2 (or at least that’s what it looked like).

A lot of his jumpins i prob coulda got away with s.mp

and ya i do… horribly… i do it in ALL my matches… :xeye:

BEHR is a beast lol hes so fun to play. I really just put it up cause he played well. I played quite bad that match. I missed the bnb 2 or 3 times at least.

I know I’m dash rushing too much… what else do I need to work on

'Sup guys…

We just had a City vs City showdown here and we pretty much filmed every matches. Most of the guys weren’t that good so i played pretty conservately and tried for different things but, in general, my overall gameplay is there.

Some comments and tips will be appreciated. I made a playlist of all my matches, actually there is one missing since my score was 11/1 but, there are plenty of videos there.

THanks.

Regarding the c. lp, c. lp, c. hk, I actually fell into the same rut sometime back. In my case it was because I was connecting with a c. lp when I wasn’t expecting to, and then I’d end up hesitating and not following it up properly because I was taking too long to decide what to do next.

Anyway, in case it helps, I broke myself out of that habit by going into training mode and setting up the dummy to randomly crouch, stand, and crouch block. The setup lets you practice hit confirming and doing a correct follow up (ex rush upper loop if you hit a standing opponent, tick throw/ overhead if blocked, headbutt if crouching).

some interesting post and vids.

This is one match from my first tournament. I know I missed a lot of good BnB opportunities for one, and too many random headbutts as well.
I thought the first match went pretty well, even though I lost. The second was is a bit embarrassing but its was a learning experience for sure. Apparently this guy has a lot of boxer experience too so that didn’t help any.

(Match starts about 50 seconds in)

there are situations where c.HP is way better then j.HP for AA. beyond what you’ve mentioned that’s something i’d point out as well.

One major problem for players who are trying to improve is they aren’t mobile enough with rog. s.HK, c.HK, c.HP stuffs almost every character so you don’t really need dash punches and headbutts to land damage. So try to stay mobile and light on your feet because it’s an easier way to mix in throws. Use specials after c.LP situations or when you’re blocking and need to punish. Stationary rog < Mobile Rog.

well i just thought i could post my youtube page, i’m a rog player. any advice/critiques on any of my videos will be greatly appreciated. http://www.youtube.com/user/kliquey im trying to figure out how i can get better. thanks!

Any feedback appreciated.

how did you not punch that ryu in the face is what I want to know

Agreed. But work on spacing that ryu so if you let him whip kick out, you can punish it with a sweep.

A few matches that I had today in a small tournament. Nothing went horribly wrong, but of course there is some mistakes and bad habits in there. Any comments would be appreciated.

.

Thanks for the feedback. I knew some of the stuff you mentioned already and trying to implement them into my game.

c.HP is my favorite normal in the game, but sometimes I just forget to do it. Also about the overheads, if I notice that they work, I’ll start doing them a lot. If I get countered with c.mk->shoryuken right away, I know that I have to be very careful with it.

One mistake is that I’ll start doing stupid stuff according to my opponents level. And from that it is easy to develop some bad habits, like overheads and far uppercuts/dashes.

Me vs Josh Ballard (Seth)

Im curious to see how I could have done better. I felt like I couldn’t do anything in this match. Lol. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!

*Less random headbutts.
*You didn’t remember to use your anti-air normals enough, s.mp and c.hp
*Don’t try to jump in Seth’s wake up. It’s not that safe.

Seth is a bitch :frowning:
