Balrog's 'What went wrong' and 'Critique' video thread

I don’t understand what are the downsides of either j.HP or j.HK, why not just use one of them? I’m not sure about the differences.

theres a big difference

i will make a lil vid 4 you to show u when to use what 1

that would be awesome! please do that!

Very grateful!

j.HP has the longest horizontal attack range of any Rog air attack and is therefore better apt for air-to-air combat or for hitting an opponent that’s too far away to hit with anything else.
j.HK has the longest vertical attack range of any Rog air attack and is therefore better apt against a grounded opponent because it will hit faster and limit your opponent’s opportunity to hit Rog with an anti-air.

So HK when you try to cross opponent up and close range jump in.
HP - air-to-air and when your jump in is wide.

?

Boxer can’t cross someone up like other characters. You can do a somewhat ambiguous crossup, where you land on the other side and start c.lp strings, but the air attack won’t cross them up.

Ok I’ve picked some losses from today’s games. It’s mainly match-ups I know very little about (Honda, Abel, Zangief). If anyone have the time to watch them then just give me a few quick ideas again, thanks in advance.

I saw the first match. Round 1 it was wasted that you couldnt connect overhead smash into ultra combo.

2ndly it’s not the best honda you see because he has 2 major weakness, one he didnt abuse his ex-hb when you jump at him. Two he tend to jump towards you a lot but all went unpunished. Instead of trading his jump with your headbutt, you can just do cr+hp to AA him with no damage to yourself.

Yea I have a big problem with LP LP LK Headbutt combo, I either do the normals too fast or too slow and get my combo interrupted by random Shoryukens and such. I can do the combo pretty often in training mode though :wonder:

As for the Honda I was totally lost as I played like my 4th Honda in a month lol.

Hit the training room and practice Balrog’s bnb combos until they come to you naturally. If you ever mess up in a real match at least once then you haven’t practice it enough…it’s easily one of the easiest combo in the game, you have to perfect it. make sure you don’t do them too fast or too slow…if you do them too slow they can be interrupted by dp n stuff.

From what i saw, you missed some crucial BnB combos as c.jab c.jab (insert special here) Also you need to punish blanka balls with Rush Straights on block or on hit. c.jab beats electricity up close and c.rh from far. Also, use less turn punches. They aren’t THAT good against blanka :china: You also have to be more patient, you’re in no threat from afar. You can easily beat all his moves on reaction, so why attack? c.fierce jump ins, or headbutt him. Punish B.balls. That should be it. You have to play defensively vs Blanka with Boxer.

aaaaand another one.

Can someone please critique this?

Hoping to be at least the top Rog in Perth

Why you’d throw full screen EX punches against anyone is beyond me.

You’re pretty much just a wide open, brightly flashing “THROW ME!” sign.

you are one of the least mobile rogs i’ve seen. then when you are mobile you’re using full screen EX stuff.

move more on your feet. get in, FADC forward. get in on him. There are times you were just sitting full screen blocking a yoga fire? wtf. move in!

Also, here’s how you play Dhalsim with Boxer.

Just a few comments:

-You’re relying way too much on jump-ins to set your offense up. Against someone better you could have been seriously punished for that.

-The Ken was doing a lot of random SRKs, and you missed quite a few opportunities to punish him for it. You also missed a few links, but I guess everyone does online.

-Be careful counterpoking Ken’s forward step kick after blocking it. Your medium and heavy pokes will get stuffed if he follows-up immediately with c. mk.

Thanks for the advice guys. That was actually my first time playing a really skilled Sim player so I had very little idea about the matchup.

Haha, so true about the full screen EX moves. Looking back, I don’t even know what I was thinking. And I mostly play against skilled Ryu’s so I’m used to just focusing only fireballs, but watching a lot of those vids, FADC’ing his limbs is the way to go.

Cheers guys/gals, I hope to post more videos soon.

Hello guys  longt time lurker first time poster… I’m from Kuwait and these are some of my latest tournament matches:
