Balrog (Boxer) Combos

Well I’ve tried the ultra ~ super about 30 times now all differently spaced and timed and nothing is connecting… lol.

I’ve thought of the possibility that maybe a few of the punches from the ultra not connecting would enable you to connect the super. I’ve even done variations of the all K ultra to miss a few punches here and there to see if it would work and… nothing.

:frowning:

Edit: Well, after reading my own advice I did it my first try!!

I whiffed a few of the punches from the ultra and got 7 hits total out of it (using all kick), and then 2 more from the super (it is possible to get more from the super but I didn’t think it would have connected so I let go of kick)

Although tenyardmike said he was able to get 14 hits out of it all… so I am a bit confused as to how he did that…

Last edit:
Scratch that, I can now connect it every time! Here’s the trick.

Position the cpu (I used ryu) on the second square from the center red line in training (either side), and make sure they aren’t outside of the second square going into the third square. Now position yourself JUST outside of Rog’s sweep range. Once you’ve found the spot, execute the ultra and use all kicks, a few of them should wiff. Afterwards, ryu should be far up and you should be able to execute the super. Hold kick until it hits and juggle accordingly.

If that doesn’t work, try again. I’ve gotten it to work every time and done it half a dozen to a dozen times.

Last last edit because it works when all hits connect when it’s all K on the ultra. I’m silly

So if you hit them too much with the ultra, super will not juggle? No wonder I couldn’t do it.

make a video of this plz… sounds cool. couldnt get it to work even once.

I’m interested in this as well. Sounds like we are learning more about the juggle potential of Rog’s Ultra/Super.

Gonna play around with this when I get home!

Mike or Mango:

Can you specify which of the 5 waves of the Ultra is whiffing???

And how many hits are you getting on just Ultra when you make it whiff correctly?

(Keep in mind that a full grounded ultra is 11 hits … at least i think it is … i’m at work right now so I can’t check)

Thanks!

Edit: It sounds like to me that there is something in the game that is saying:

If combo counter less than X hits after an Ultra, then Super will connect
If combo counter is greater than X hits after an Ultra, then Super will not connect

We just gotta figure out what X is!

Usually the ultra hits 7 - 9 times when whiffing a few punches. I can’t recall which ones specifically whiff but if you position yourself where I mentioned in the previous post it should be easily observable.

I’d figure it out for you now but I have class soon, sorry. Try it yourself

I haven’t tried it again since, but it did work a few times with like the 2nd or 3rd wave whiffing a few hits.

i can not get this to work at all.

(utlra–>ultra works though, yipee!)

edit:

looooooooooooooooooooool

i just got it to work! only once though :frowning:

it was 12 hits!

693 Dmg

Pretty beefy

can someone PLZ explain exactly how you are getting this to work? posting up the damage is just a tease if you’re not telling us how u did it! A video would be best!

Normally grounded Ultra does 11 hits.

5 rushes. First 4 doing 2 hits each, the last grand uppercut doing 3 hits.

Which of the rushes whiffs hits? how many hits total does the ultra have to hit in order for this to work? 10? 9? how many hits of the super hit? which rushes of the super hit? more details plz

Make a fucking vid already.

Just follow what Golden Sun posted:

The requirements arent as strict as described but bascially you dont want the last uppercut of the Ultra to be in the corner. You want that last uppercut of the Ultra to launch just before you reach the corner. Then just activate super as soon as possible and hold down kicks. You should get whiff, hit, hit whiff, hit if you do it properly. Doing it on Rog seems to be the easiest.

EDIT:

There is no need for any of the Ultra hits to whiff. Im getting a full 14 hits from this combo. Pick Rog as ur practice dummy, put him on the second line from the red center line, Do Ultra with kicks and then finally super with kicks.

Sorry but I dont have any recording equipment.

I don’t have recording capability…

ToOoOomeke

thanks for the explanation, yours is definitely more detailed, and explains how it should look (super: whiff, hit, hit, whiff, HIT ) for 14 hits. when i get home i’ll test it out this way and see the results.

Right now i have MagnetoManiac trying it out because he’s capable of recording it. No success yet though

No matter how much I change the timing, I can’t get it. My arm is RIGHT on him and it just goes through and whiffs.

My spacing is cpu on the red line, 3rd line over on my own side.

I manage to get it to work on Ryu using TooooOomeke’s method. I simply left the Ryu dummy where he is when you start training mode and moved over to the 2P side just outside of sweep range just as he said activated ultra with kicks and super straight after. Sorry, no recording capability either :frowning:

Ok so here is an easy setup to get the cpu in the right place.

Select Rog as your practice dummy

Walk him into the corner

Throw him out of the corner using your back+lp+lk throw

Dash forward twice so you are right next to him when he gets up.

Ultra

Super

ToOoOomeke this is very interesting. How many matches could this have won! You were holding out on us for so long!

I couldn’t agree more but hey better late than never! This is actually pretty practical as I often find myself having full ultra and full super.

ToOooOmeke the way you described works 100%

Man I kept doing punch ultra hits that’s why it was whiffing. Ultra must be all kicks, then it’s free.

Here’s a video of how to do it. Thanks to MagnetoManiac
