Which Rog Taunt absorves fireballs?
You can kara cancel FA’s into any of Rog’s taunts.
Aye, pretty much the above - Didn’t word it correctly but I just half-assumed people would know what I meant (And no, it’s nothing Boxer specific, either, but there is a video of it if you’d like to see the fun side - It’s in the “Needs More Dudley” thread on the last page I think).
Point is that my video only shows bare-bone simple basic combos in a time where people have moved on to FAR fancier things
I don’t really play Balrog but I had a question.
Can Balrog link into his overhead punch? I was playing some Balrog and we went even (nearly every match went to fifth rnd I think and we both won about the same amount).
For some reason, maybe because it was 4am, I couldn’t block the overhead punch but I always blocked what led to it- I THINK it was c lp x 2, c lk x1, overhead (usually ex I believe), soemthing, headbutt.
I know I’ve thrown Balrog out of something like that before, pretty sure usually the overhead. I went into training mode though and couldn’t link into the overhead with c.lk.
Just wondering, if balrog is trying to link into it up close (the overhead), can you throw him out of it always whether you were hit by the previous normals or not? What if you block all the normals leading to it?
There’s no practical way of comboing into his overhead punch. If Rog is doing a string and suddenly does an overhead, he’s fair game for a throw if you can react in time. Otherwise you can just block high and punish afterwards.

Overhead combo #6 with the FADC is nice and flashy if a little meter expensive
That last combo with the stand up cs. HP looks like it will be very helpful for me to nail down the timing of the link into jab. Thanks rainscape!
Dunno how helpful this is, but I did find out at one of my local meetups that stand up cs. HP works on Gen, so hope that helps against the hordes of Gen players I’m sure you’re all gonna face

i thought about incorporating the clp ~ cmp 1 frame link in my game…
is it better, in general, to plink cmp with clk? plinking with c lp seems so unnatural to me, which is why i never tried to learn the clp~cmp combo
I was doing that yesterday…but in order for it to work without the annoyance of the 1 frame bs, you need to hold K to make it come out in 8 frames, hence they need to be standing.
Also, how often will you be landing an EX overhead from 3/4 screen away so you have long enough time to charge? Will they be standing? That’s one hell of a fireball read lol
Also, overhead -> c.lk -> headbutt works on a crouching Guile, you just have to wait a few more frames
Yeah, I’ve only been able to pull it from about half screen and that’s just BARELY getting enough of a charge, but jesus it does so much damage!!!

a neat little one i found out yesterday, i dunno if its already know but you can fake our your opponent with it if your a little far out of range for cr. short combo
cr. MK -> cr. MP -> str. Headbutt -> ultra/super
I’m pretty sure that it’s impossible to plink, since c.LP can chain into itself and c.LK.
You can plink c. mp off c. lp. Or at least I’ve found hitting that link to be a lot easier with plinking than without.
I think it works because you can’t chain cancel late into c. lp’s recovery frames, so as long as you’re not hitting the c.mp~c.lp too early it should work.
Ah, so you’re hitting it in a way that c.LP would also link… given the frames on hit, that makes sense then.

i know it’s impractical and a waste of 2 ex bars but it’s fun and flashy and perhaps a nice finishing combo vs a scrub !
I posted almost exactly the same combo in the previous page (I did a c. lk instead of the last c. lp)… Or at least I posted a video of it. It’s useful against crouching Sagat if you happen to land an OH and want to combo into an ultra.
