Balrog (Boxer) Combos

Ooookey, sorry for spamming I should’ve read a couple of pages in this thread first. But I still can’t do that simple c:lp: c:lp: c:lk: xx headbutt.

I can do the last part ( c:lk: xx headbutt ) easy, but if I add a single c:lp: before that it’s just impossible to pull off. Is there any really solid advice with timing of this combo? What I’ve read in pages 1-4 doesn’t help much :wasted:

The only advice is that don’t do it too fast. I do it with a steady rhythm. It is hard to describe the rhythm in writing, but try it out in the training mode. Wait until the punch connects and then press it again. Practice first with just one c:lp. Then add another one and after that a third one. After you can do 3x c:lp xx headbutt, try to do the c:lk version.

Btw. are you using a pad or a stick? For me it is a lot easier on the stick.

As I’m writing this message I have been using my new 360 TE stick on PC for only 10 hours and I play Balrog only 3 days.
I was playing on a pad with quite a comfortable D-Pad ( my pad ). I was actually doing better than I would expect from a pad. Well back to combos.

c:lk: xx headbutt - easy
c:lp: xx headbutt - easy
Anything with 1 normal before headbutt is easy. As soon as I add another normal before the “xx headbutt” it’s dead impossible. It’s like the timing is different.

I’ll spend some time in practice just doing :lp::lp::lk:xxheadbutt and I’ll see how many full combos I get.

Rhythm is tap tap ta-tap

c.lp------c.lp------c.lk–hp.HB <-- ( trying to show the spacing between the taps )

Do it slow so you aren’t chaining the c.lp’s with c.lk because hp.HB will not come out if you do it to fast.

This should be in BIG RED fonts on the very first page BEFORE the combo.
I read this, alt-tabbed back to SF4 training mode and did it from the 1st try + I even added and ultra at the end lol.

Great advice on this combo.

I’m off to grinding this combo til I get as steady 90% on it. Thanks again!

I’m new here so spare me, but I found the most interesting thing; I was facing a friend of mine and he was Chun Li.
I had picked my main Rog, and around the 3 round, I went for a j.hk and it crossed him up, perfectly.
Then of course I did the Bnb, but we were surprised that it would cleanly cross up a crouching Chun.

Can someone explain me how is it possible to do hk->cr.lk xx headbut ?
I think i’ve got the god timing for this king of combo with a cancel for the headbut, but i can understand how could you charge for 2s from the first move to the last !

thanks

sowned : if they were crouching that doesnt mean you crossed her up . it means you hit chun with an overhead and thats why it hit.

richmonx: you could jump in with j.hk or j.hp and hold back while you jumped in , thats probably gonna be the easiest way to pull it off.

Thanks i can do this.
But is it really possible to do the combo without jumping ?!

AFAIK, no.

Thanks Oda, I honestly thought I crossed her up lol

Why not just do the HK x cr. LK x EX Upper x cr. LK xx Headbutt combo? Or you could just stop at the upper.

Is there enough time to charge for a headbutt with only the c.lk after the ex upper?

EX Upper -> c.lp -> c.lk -> any special

My mistake, good question - I only use EX upper x cr. lp x 2 x headbutt. I’m not sure, but I’m doubtful that you can.

This is an impossible combo.

Negative, you need two hits if this is regarding the upper loop. You COULD do it if you did you ex upper from across the screen when countering a fireball or something.

yes, but only if your ex upper has a mild travelling distance. its why ex upper, c.lp xx overhead is possible. (requires double back charge). 2 jabs is just the norm because the hitstun + 2 jabs can buffer a db charge indefinitely.

note that in most cases, if you use ex upper to go past a projectile, you will only land one jab because the absorb effect kinda reduces your travelling distance? so in those cases, its possible to just do ex upper, c.lp xx hb.

don’t know if this is posted, but i would like to share some damaging combos

  1. j.hp/hk, s.mk xx ex rush upper ~ c.lp ~ c.lk xx hp headbutt >> ultra

other than a full hit ultra combo, this is the most damaging combo with 1 bar of ex charges, does at least 505+ dmg iirc

  1. j.hp/hk, s.mk xx hp dash straight/rush upper xx SUPER

does more than a full hit ultra combo

both of these combos are easy to do and are comboable off a j hp/j hk

i think j.hk, s.hk, c.lk xx exRU, c.lp c.lk xx HP headbutt does more damage while you have an earlier down charge.

same goes for your second combo.

ultra scales hard and is overrated. people should stop ending long ass combos with em.

Just tested it out the combos from the previous two posts on my console… j.hk, s.hk, c.lk xx exRU, c.lp c.lk xx HP headbutt +ultra…it does does 478 dmg…my first combo in my previous post does 512 dmg. my second combo does 538

my second combo is used to deal high damage off j hp/j hk when you have a full super bar. once again, it does 538 damage

yes i do know that ultra scales hard…but these are combos i thought i liked to share that use the most dmg off a j hk/j hp

EDIT:
-j hp, cr mp, hp headbutt ultra does 507 dmg and
-j.hp/hk, s.mk xx ex rush upper ~ c.lp ~ c.lk xx hp headbutt ultra does 510 in the corner
-they both do 512 when not in the corner

i guess using j hp, cr mp… is better to do…unless you need really need the extra 3 dmg
