If I wanted to post videos of me trying out the combos (Still a noob) for critiqueing, should I post videos of me trying out combos in this thread or would you guys recommend I post them in the general Balrog area with it’s own thread or possibly that video thread that’s already on the front page?
After a dizzy or a crumple which combo is better? (Assuming you don’t have Ultra/Super)
- CS.HK ~ C.LK xx EX Rush Upper ~ C.LP ~ C.LK xx HP Headbutt = 338 Dmg, 575 Stun
OR
- CS.MK xx EX Rush Upper ~ C.LP ~ C.LK xx HP Headbutt = 343 Dmg, 495 Stun
One of them does more damage but the other does more stun.
Charge buffer it,
like this
charge back for 2 seconds, then down forward and immediately go to back and pressand hold punch, then when the dash swing lands do medium punch - dash straight, the OH gives you mad timing to charge for anything
The closer you are to stunning the more inclined I’d be to use the heavier stun combo.
hm i just found out that u can do a extra LP after a EX RU loop
Just did it on honda and the combo went like this
j.HK, cr.LP, cr.LP xx EX RU cr.LP, cr.LP, cr.LK xx HB xx ultra
tried it on honda, but the success rate on landing it is kinda iffy because u have to do it pretty fast O_o
You can add a c.LK before the EX RU too.
i’m trying to train Balrog after play Cammy and Zangief.
i have alot of problem with rog combo for some reason. I can c.lp–>Headbutt or c.lk->Headbutt , c.mp–>Headbutt like 99% of the time, but some how can’t do C.lp->C.lp–>C.lk --> headbutt or Dash punch alot of the time.
Most ofthe time, i just jump back since the headbutt didn’t came out.
it’s looks like if i do lp then lk the timing is different for headbutt.
i have no problem doing cammy c.lk. c.lp.–> c.lk --> Spiral Arrow or other combo
I can’t believe i can’t beat people with rog at the rate of Cammy.
I had the same problem with balrogs combos until a couple days ago. the problem is you’re cancelling into lk instead of linking it. you gotta link it in order to cancel into headbutt
After dizzy you should always go for damage. The opponent takes no stun damage during dizzy.
CS.HK ~ C.LK xx EX Rush Upper ~ C.LP ~ C.LK xx HP Headbutt is probably your combo of choice. It will always do more stun damage than the second combo and will do more health damage depending on how much life the opponent has left.
After practichng with my new stick I realized c.mk can combo into c.mp. The timing is a tough one though. Does anyone actually make use of this combo. J.hk/hp, c.mk, c.mp xx H.hb is nice damage.
I believe it’s a 1 frame link and unless you have godlike execution and never play online, I’d go for the sure damage + hit confirm of c.lp, c.lp, c.lk xx f.HB. IMHO not worth the risk of a little extra damage off of a jump-in. I do however use c.mk, c.hk which is also a 1 frame link to pressure and sometimes they combo. But if I miss then it’s no big deal since c.mk is a safe poke and if they do almost anything after blocking it they get tagged by c.hk (which is also safe on block).
It’s probably because your not linking the cr.lp to cr.lk. Or it could be because your pressing punch too early/late for the move to cancel.
Doing the ex upper loop, I can never get anything to link after… how fast do I have to press c.lp?
its not how fast , its when, its very time specific, go to training mode and find ways to get the timing down for yourself
I can only get it button mashing to hell lol I can only get it about twice then fail
Don’t button mash, try different timing. it honestly just takes practice. Go to practice mode, do ex rush upper, press jab, if it doesnt come out then you’re pressing jab too fast, if it gets blocked then youre doing it too slow. Analyze it and adjust your button presses until you get it down…
I’m fairly new to Balrog. I’m learning him as my secondary to Guile.
I skimmed the thread, but couldn’t find an answer to my question:
Does Balrog have any decent combos that do not require charge?
Example, with Guile my non-charge combo I use a bunch is cr.lk, st.lp, st.hp, st.hp or something along those lines.
Is there anything similar that Balrog can utilize?

yeah, you can stuff like C MK > C LP > S HP or S HK. The C MK > C LP link as well as does S HK > C LK. But usually I use the C LP as a combo starter whether I have a charge or not.
There are tons of combo possibilities with boxer so keep using him bro, he’ll be easy to pick up if you know how to pre-charge :wgrin:

Just got his EX Rush Upper loop down today. It’s like his links are 100x easier than Guile’s :bluu: I went from using no ultras, to being able to land one guaranteed every round. Feels like I’m being spoiled
