Balrog (Boxer) Combos

sometimes it is distance dependent, so one jab may connect but the second may not. currently, im trying to figure out whether that distance may allow a down charge to be buffered, so it’d be something like exRU, c.lp, hb.

OR

exRU, c.lp, c.mp, lp DSP.

For some reason, I cant link anything after the ex upper…is there any tips on doing so?

closest that i’ve done exRU, cr. lp, hb was under the timer while opponent was in the corner.

I’m having a TON of trouble executing the jumping hk->c.lp->c.lp->c.lk->headbutt combo and have no idea why, was hoping someone had some advice for execution.

Basically I can link either the jump in hk->c.lp->c.lp->c.lk but the headbutt doesnt come out, or i can seem to link the jump in hk->c.lp->c.lp and somehow manage to not throw out the c.lk but do an unlinked headbutt instead. This is really frustrating, as I am able to execute the 5 hit combo ~20% of the time, sometimes 3-4 times in a row, and then all of the sudden I lose it and can’t do it again for 20 minutes.

I can do a jumping hk->c.lp->c.lk->headbutt about 90% of the time without any problems, and I have no idea why the added c.lp is giving me so many issues.

I play on a fightstick and single tap buttons (double tapping feels reeeeealllly weird).

Maybe you are chaining the c.lk instead of linking it. For some reason the game wont let you cancel out of the chain. So you have to do c.lp,c.lpslight pausec.lk xx hb.

If you didnt already know that then give it a shot and post back.

heh there are times when I can get that combo 3 times in a match and others where it will not connect at all…and I appear to be a crouching jab Rog player lol. With lag, I’ve had the clk not come out and the guy will stop blocking and the HB will hit lol.

Watching gootecks on XBL it proved that even pros will have trouble executing BnB when you add in the lag, mostly because of the inconsistent lag.

What has more range, clp xx clk or clp xx clp after exrush upper? I like clp xx cmp for the damage and flash but man…i miss it enough to not use it in tournys.

Also what do you guys like to do after you land one, i repeat it once and then either finish the combo, reset, or go for throw or frametrap. Any other “tricks” anyone uses with it?

you can link a standing lp after ex rush upper. :expressionless:

Hello all ! I was fighting against a solid Blanka yesterday and I was wondering which combos do you use against him. The cLP,cLp,cLp, Headbutt miss all the time so the only chance to use the ultra is to jHK,cMP, Headbutt - Ultra … Plaese can you advice a good combo which I can actually hit confirm ? Thanks .

you can try also ex-overhead , c.mp, HB, Ultra as well. Basically you need c.mp as the link since c.lk always misses on blanka.

EX overhead is great but the electric beats the s**t out of it. After three cLP on hit is Blanka on distance on which the overhead is ripped by electric and cHK is also owned by it … The fact that I have only two hits to hit confirm is sad …So only solution is cMP ?

wait what i’m confused. Are you saying c.HK is owned by eletricity from blanka?

because that is NOT the case.

Well for me the c.HK is owned from close range ( which I’m in after two or three c.LP ) from Blanka’s electric.

pretty much, I normally don’t rush blankas much because of electricity. The matchup is in boxer’s favor if you sit back and turtle. But then again my win records vs blanka is the lowest on my list. :rofl:

also overhead->c.mp->headbutt doesn’t work on standing blanka … but c.lk does so get used to both
on the jump in combo, a good blank will not let you jump in they will just blanka ball you. just wait them out and bait their ultra (blanka players seem to always use it) then punish with headbutt ultra or ultra

oh ok yeah if you’re super close bad idea. but at range it mashes it bad.

A quick question for you guys:

I’ve noticed a few Rogs utilizing this combo: 4xc.lp->headbbutt->Ultra. The thing is that by the third jab, the opponent is too far away to continue w/ the last jab. Any tips? Thanks.

you have to cancel them pretty fast and/or be deep when you start them.

i’m not sure if you’re asking HOW to achieve this or IF IT"S WORTH IT.

cuz it’s not worth it, I’d rather do 2 jabs then headbutt if i have charge for it. or even c.MP/headbutt.
