If you’re gonna compare ‘balance’, then T5:DR is way more balanced than 3s. The tiers are much closer, and the amount of effort one of the shitter chars have to put in [Draugnov I think] is nowhere near the stupidity of let’s say Sean v Chun.

You’re retarded…honestly. If you think 3S tiers are so vast, then I suggest you play a game like MVC2 which IS fucking broken. Comparing Tekken to SF? Lol? Tekken and all 3D games are totally different. Because most characters can destroy you in a few seconds, and the VAST amount of moves each character has, the ability to mix someone up and kill him off within a few is MUCH greater than SF where you gotta grind it out and work for your win. Of course Sean isn’t gonna rape Chun in 20 seconds, but he def CAN win. Does that mean he WILL win most of the time? Hell no, but why the fuck would you compare the worst character in the game to the best? Are you dumb? Honestly now…wtf is wrong with you?

Uh, I COME from a Marvel background. Played for 4-5 years constantly against some of the best comp in the game. No shit that game is broken - but wait a fucking minute! Why are you implying that I stated 3s was broken/near broken? Yes, I stated that 3s tiers are pretty big, but now you bring up Marvel and start rambling on about how that game is broken? Way to fucking go, pick one of the most broken games out there and use it as a comparison to try and make 3s look more balanced.

3d games are totally different from 2nd. No shit? Perhaps I was comparing the state of the tiers in DR compared to 3s? Duh, game mechanics play a role in how tiers can be constructed, but let’s face it - Shit characters all have the problems of crap damage, crap moves [unsafe or simply way too easy to see/stop], and in general a much harder time landing that hit/combo in order to win. That’s what makes them low tier.
It’s especially bad in 3s for crap characters because they simply DON’T DO ENOUGH DAMAGE. Now that we’ve got that settled, back to DR - yes, everyone has a launch into xx% life combo. Take that away, and then what? You see that the shittiest chars in DR are able to still compete not because they have that xx% combo, but because their movelists [you mentioned about how 3d games have more moves, duh, but it’s completely relative in each game] allow them to compete. The low tier chars in 3s? Gimmicks and bullshit. They don’t have those moves [granted, they’d have fewer in comparison to their 3d counterparts, but like I said, it’s all relative] and are gimped in addition to the fact that they deal shit damage.
And why would I compare the shittiest char in the game to the best? Why shouldn’t I? The shittiest DR chars still have winnable matchups against even the best chars [something like 7-3, in almost all cases], while 3s has loads of 8-2, and a couple 9-1 matchups. Balanced? Yeah, right. Perhaps 3s is the most balanced of all the 2d fighters [this is another debate], but it most certainly isn’t ‘nearly perfect’.

The way you implied that 3S is unbalanced was what pissed me off. It IS near perfect, because the game itself is amazing. I never said the game is perfectly balanced did I? I just said Yun was the only thing that makes me angry at times, cause of how bullshit his super is. Also, I still don’t think you grasp the concept of what makes a game good. People LIKE imbalance and this is the truth. Some people have always wanted to prove something to themselves or others, and they use low tier, and some become godly with them. Others are lazy and would rather use top tiers that are easy to use and get good results. If everyone in the game was perfectly balanced, that game would be no fun, contrary to popular belief. Look at a game like MVC2 which is so severely crippled when it comes to balance…but it’s still a lot of fun cause it caters to the high level tournament players, the low tier loving tournament players, the low tier players, etc. Can Zangief win in that game? No. But that’s the way the game is. Now on the other hand, can Sean win against Chun? YES. And it wouldn’t be a miracle if he did beat her. Would it be a miracle if Sean made it to EVO World finals? YES. Because statistically, he’s got like no chance. But the game is good enough to let the lowest tier characters EASILY (and yes, I add the easily, because if you’re good, you WILL make it happen…3S isn’t Cable vs Gief) compete with the best. I think you exaggerate with the 9-1’s, too. What matchups are 9-1 in 3S?
