I’ve seen QCB+HCF, and QCF+HCB, but not HCB+QCF. If you were referring to one of those motions I mentioned seeing - I personally find those motions FAR EASIER than QCFx2. All you do is roll the joystick forward, then roll it all the way back - or vice versa. No returning the joystick to neutral mid-motion or any of that crap - no worrying about accidentally getting a shoryuken because the game didn’t register all your inputs right. I personally consider QCB+HCF to be the ideal motion for a super - easy as pie to do and you’ll perform it without the intention of doing the super.
Now I will say that I dislike HCBx2, but I still consider that better than 360x2, seeing as you don’t have to worry about jumping unless you really fuck up the input.
There’s no reason to complain about inputs in a KOF game unless you are playing as Geese. Play as Geese, then you have every right to complain.
Maybe you have another tastes with easier inputs, i don’t blame you because everyone has the the right to feel comfortable and some styles are different.
The game tries to show that some characters have a huge skillcap in their combos (like trial mode combos) but you can be effective with some more easy and simple bnb’s without doing complicated inputs, i only see inputs like HCB x 2 cancels and HCB + F as the most dificult for some people (Terry’s power geiser too) and you have a great variety of characters with accesible fighting styles if you feel that some character is really difficult for you.
And maybe you are talking about marvel because capcom has almost the same inputs, the only difference is that people can’t mash in this game at some extent.
I’m going to assume that HCB~QCF was supposed to be qcb~hcf, since the former doesn’t exist and the latter does.
Input it as qcb~qcb~f+P, and there’s your DM. Magic. Don’t come in here and say Capcom games never had shit like that. SFIV Ultra = qcf~qcf+PPP. KoF DM (using appropriate shortcuts) = qcb~qcb~f+P. If I count the extra two button presses for the ultra, the KoF version actually requires fewer inputs (or an equal amount for EX DMs).
Also, in case you are not familiar with the origin of the now common term “Tiger Knee”, it’s because Sagat’s Tiger Knee originally required a qcf~u/f+K input to execute, so I don’t think you’ve got grounds to complain about inputs ending in u/b, as you did in your post. You’re telling me you’ve never seen a Cammy TK a dive kick in SFIV? Dhalsim instant air teleports?
Moral of the story: don’t come in here on your “Capcom doesn’t make me execute tough shit” high horse. Let’s see you do a standing 720, then maybe I’ll bite. C’mon, even charged corner to corner inputs get dropped by intermediate players often (D/B~d/f~d/b~u/f+KKK). Have you ever seen Yeb do a Gen combo?
I don’t even know why I’m still going, so I’ll just stop.
The timing of this release was fine. My brother got it for me for Christmas, and I couldn’t be happier with it. I would say it’s filling a niche in the 2D market for players who have been disappointed with the SFIV series’ catering to a more casual crowd, taking a step back from 3S. UMvC3 has obvious balance issues, and is just generally a very unforgiving game. Right now KoF is feeling like the VF of the 2D world. Yes, I did and do actually play VF. It was the first FG I seriously got into competitively, actually (VF4). It’s a shame it has such a small North American following. Even Toronto is a major city, and I can count the number of VF players here on my fingers and still have some left over :(.
the inputs and timing are just different than sf4 and not necessarily harder. it takes a while to get into the groove of the game but if you keep trying you’ll get there. i remember first doing srk-fadc, ultra and i had a hard time because it not only required a lot of inputs but because of shortcuts i’d often get a shoryuken rather then ultra. after a few days of practice i had it down and other combos for other characters were easier because of all the similarities they shared with combos/timing. just stick with it and stay out of mission trials mode for a while. just get down some meterless bnb’s and then slowly incorporate harder techniques and you’ll be thankful because kof13 is worth it.
After reading some posts, I have to say maybe it isn’t 100% either way. Yes, 360x2 is a bitch, I had barely thought of it because I don’t really play grapplers. Or Gen. Everyone else though? No real problems doing moves. But in KOF I feel helpless with everyone except Ryo,Yuri (funny stuff) and Joe. Terry? Sure, until I need to pull a super, than I’m screwed.
I did (wrongly) assume the trials were reflective on what’s practical in a real match. It’s just all the other games I’ve played taught me SOMETHING. Ya know? I’m gonna try those shortcuts soon though. I hope I do like the game, I bought it didn’t I?
On topic: I think Atlus just wanted the game out ASAP after making everyone wait so long.
Seriously, am I the only one who finds qcb-hcf to be about ten times easier than qcfx2?
Because I’m not exaggerating, it is for me. I try to do qcfx2, I might get a super, I might just get a shoryuken. I do qcb-hcf, I always get the super - always. You say you can’t do Terry’s supers - which one? Because if it’s Power Geyser, I just don’t understand - it’s so easy. Happy go lucky. We are the warudo.
The question isn’t whether KOF was released at a bad time. It has resonated very well with the FGC and has even stolen many players away from other games such as SF4 and MvC3.
The question should be - will Capcom try to counter this in some way?
I’ve gotten more unwanted specials when I’m trying QCB x2 than any other input in the game. Especially after dashing. Fuck Rose. I don’t ever think I’ve gotten any unwanted specials with HCBx2 in SF4, but KOF XIII is a different story. It’s taken me a while to get adjusted to it. In that game I get an all or nothing type of response. When I do the QCB HCF motion, I’ll either get the intended move, or a normal. I definitely think it’s an easier motion and I wish SF had more motions like that instead of corner charge moves, but that’s just me.
Its not a 2009 comeback mechanic and this isn’t the first KOF to have the super bar gain when your character die’s. Not only that your still not given an extra bar with a full meter you still have to build it up. Besides SNK has always had a comeback mechanic in the form of desperation attacks so its nothing new to begin with.
So you didnt like KOF, stopped playing, asked SRK what the best fighting game of the year was, picked it up again, and going to drop it again for one of the new games?
If you guys are having trouble doing certain inputs, ya’ll need to keep input display on in training mode. I was missing corners and after** some practice** I was executing what was troubling me just fine.
Uh oh! Another character to add on to my play list! Clark is officially going to be my next main!
Samir stuck with the most practical methods of fighting - he basically uses the characters bread-and-butter combos and using special moves at the right time as much as possible.
Number one: I knocked the game cause I deemed it a little difficult do to crazy inputs the missions was asking for I felt somewhat the way smashbro29 felt on inputs, notice the starting statement of the forum I started, yes I picked it up again because I didn’t try as I hard as I should have and yes now I enjoy only cause I gave it effort. I will drop it because more games will be out i.e SF X Tekken only because I’m a fan of both games as well as others. I don’t stick to one game because I like variety, also it’s my money, my games, and I do as I want with them. Secondly I asked the questions on SRK because I enjoy reading the opinions and conversations that others express that’s what forums are for and that’s a right I have as well as many do, thus I do learn from others and notice I don’t say much and don’t intend to. Third it’s a question and to try to make it seem that i’m double standards I’ll say this this much I don’t got shit to prove anybody furthermore answer the topic or don’t.
A fraud cause I asked a question. Everybody else didn’t seem to have a problem with it. I even went so far as to throw tips on your thread and guess what I don’t know how good you are nor do I care and whose to say you own the game you probably just seen YouTube vids and went off that, ask me do I care, I’m sure its thousands of people who talk a lot shit about what they know and can’t win a match or truly don’t know the game, but I don’t care and don’t give a fuck-less. I stated in thread how I felt and asked an opinion, people answered. What difference should it make what I post and or if I’m true to it I stated and I asked, answer or don’t, it’s a forum a community not a fucking job interview I’m done.
Dude, I’ve been playing the game for a while while it was in arcades. Your entire basis on it being a bad time to release the game made me question it, but after re-reading your entire point, this is a huge contradiction. You’re tried to pick up the game and gave up midway. I’ll admit, at first, it’s not easy. However, you’re going beyond just picking up the game. You’re making a prediction a lot of people will drop the game when newer games come out.
When you yourself have not really given the game a fair shake, I think that’s a contradictory statement.
