New series looks great, Kora looks to be much more in the mold of Avatar Roku, who was way more badass than Aang. I didn’t hate Katara, I just got tired of how preachy she was and listening to her whine all the time. I am HYPED for the new series, I wonder how the perception of the Fire Nation will have changed under the direction of Emperor Zuko.
Also, I as far as Iroh vs Azula, I feel that Iroh was a true master, and as such never felt the need to flash his muscle or his power or waste energy on flashy, unnecessary movements. Iroh handled Azula the one time they had an encounter, and he was capable of shooting lightning because he tried to teach Zuko how to do it. Besides having an equal level of skill, Iroh has many more years of experience, and is mentally stable enough to handle the power he has. Azula got worked by leveled up Zuko, and she would lose even harder against Iroh, who is older, wiser and stronger.
I swear if they don’t wrap up that plot line in the graphic novel(cause word on the street is they won’t be wrapping it up in the show), Imma hafta go back to my gangster roots and… write a long ass complaint about it on an internet site.
Azula has no basics. She started out watching youtube videos online to copy/learn them 56 hit combos and easy mode hit-confirm fireballs into lightning ultra. She doesn’t know shit about footsies, poking, and frame traps. Even worse, she doesn’t know how to block. Free all day vs left-right and tri-jump mix-ups.
Iroh, on the other hand has been around since the SF2 days. He learned all the basics through trial and error, and went through thousands of hours and dollars in tokens and quarters along with Ozai to up his game. He knows what you’re going to do before you do it because he knows everything about every game. That 56 hit combo Azula saw on youtube? It was made by Iroh’s student’s student. She’s already three generations behind. From a single round, Iroh will figure out that she can’t block and he’ll just left-right all day. Azula will wake up lightning ultra like the scrub she is and Iroh will pop-and-lock redirect. Hold 'dat L to your chest for eternity, Azula.
You guys need to pick up the new Avatar comic, it’s pretty good
[spoiler=]It takes place after the series ended and deals with the removal of the Fire Nation colonies in the Earth Kindom and how Zuko eventually decides against this decision.
The comic ends with…Zuko asking his father for advice[/spoiler]
Im just on the 2nd season but so far this series is getting up on my top 5 favorite series of all time list. I’m only bothered by the sudden buff in Katara as I see it as a bit unrealistic as far as how it was paced, but outside that the series is amazing.
As for Kora…I usually have a distain towards female leads in action/adventure since it can sometimes turn to a giant" see girls are cool too"empowerment wank off so hopefully the plot and tone of the series is written around that theme.
To be fair Katara is actually more godlike than people are willing to admit, so just accept it. Paku was like a jar of rare candies that shot her to level 80 from level 10.
Korra so far seems to be really tomboyish. So hopefully that makes her sex unimportant.
Meh I just didn’t buy into her sudden buff…not to mention she embodies all the worst qualities a woman could possibly have so that probably is another reason why I didn’t buy it.
Hopefully kora doesn’t fall into that same pattern, so far from what I’ve seen she already seems to be far less annoying.
I think her maternal instincts give her power. Not to mention the Water Tribe is on the brink of extinction in the show so someone has to teach Aang. Might as well be a broken young girl.
