I know all we’ve got of her is the usual “epic” back shot, but Korra looks like a badass.
She was told as a teen. Remember, the only reason Aang was told young was because the monks knew there was an impending crisis (the Fire Nation’s invasion) and the world would need the Avatar. But yeah, she could be a couple years older than 16. Maybe 18. (the press release says she’s still a teenager. Really, I’m just amazed Aang didn’t live to a ripe old age. Though I suppose it’s intentional, since Aang’s being not too old when he passed means that the other members of the old cast could potentially still be around given how long people in this universe tend to live.
I like how they avoided answering questions about the movie. Anyway, this new series looks promising. My only worry is that Nick fucks around with the schedule like they did with the last season of Avatar.
I will give this a shot, but I honestly think it would have been interesting to spin this in the opposite direction and have the Avatar be from the fire nation, and then see what how the world has changed several cycles since Aang.
Glad to know about a new series, but I felt they could have fleshed out some of Aang and other characters’ pasts. Him & his friend Kuzon, Iroh & the Spirit World, Siege at Ba Sing Se, stuff like that.
Although I’m interested to see how they do this one big city for the series. I was a big fan of the old gang traveling all over the world.
Awesome that they’re making a new series. I doubt it’d be as good since it won’t really have Toph (my favorite character), maybe as an 80+ year old woman as Bumi but not looking forward to seeing that.
Aang learned the different elements with a quickness. The premise of the next story is Korra needs to learn just one? She should be a master at the end of the first season.
Ty Lee never owned Aang, but Azula showed amazing agility against Aang during the eclipse. It was just running away, but it was damn good.
great to see a new avatar coming. its the only cartoon out of the US that i actually enjoyed since robotech. shit was that good. a black friend of mine few years older than me got me into avatar, telling its like those animes i used to watch during the 80, begin to mid 90’s. it wasnt THAT good, but it was still fucking awesome. most eps where really worth it imo. its not as good as the naruto manga, but id rate it higher than the naruto anime. especially shippuden.
For the sake of my sanity I better put you on my ignore list. Between this and your “movies all suck nowadays” nonsense in the Predators thread, I think I actually lost IQ points. I already had the real type of cancer, so getting whatever it is you’re spreadin’ ain’t really that desirable.
The real premise, from everything we’ve seen, isn’t really that she has to learn the last element, but that anti-bending religious fanatics are doing something to the world.
Unlike anime, which Avatar is not, Dr. B is compelling, interpretive, and so fun to watch. Yes homo.
