I really haven’t heard anyone who says it sucks say why they hate it aside from it having a lot of stuff cut out compared to the show or complaining about arbitary things such as 3 characters names and how they are pronounced or why people are the wrong skin colors. Honestly do you have any legitimate complaints? Or do you just hate the director for every more arbitary reasons so you’re finding any reason to hate this film aswell?
28 Weeks Later is a quality movie. It is a dark as hell grinhouse-esque no apologies horror film, versus the first one which was “too good for horror” namby pamby crap.
28 weeks later is trash, are you serious?
Yes I am serious, hence why I actually provide reasoning for my opinions and not empty platitudes.
except it was not grindhouse esque the in the least
it was boring, cliche and formulaic
but, this is not the point of the thread
you are obviously confusing a different movie with the one we are discussing. The movie I am referring to has a 7.1/10 on imdb (compared with Airbender’s 4/10) and a fresh rating of 71% on RT (compared to Airbender’s rotten rating of 08%). While there are obviously criticisms to be leveled against 28WL, “cliche” and “formulaic” are definitely not two of them in any universe.
PGabe, 28 weeks later was supremely stupid.
After the mom came back the movie disintegrated.
I was so excited because the opening was completely fantastic. Then the mom comes back, you are telling me the infected just bit her and ran away? When he husband got infected and immediately gouged out her eyes? Fuck that, and fuck you for thinking that was good.
Why would the base let a possible cure for the infection be left alone in any circumstance? It’s just all the more frustrating considering how good that beginning scene was.
I know you’re joking, but Rosie’s original name in JP Mario Galaxy is Rosetta. She’s white as hell, sir.
the only good part of that movie was when they were in the subway
saw this movie last night
my review:
lololololollololololollololololollololololollololololollololololollololololollololololollololololollololololol
Yeah. Same thing I said while watching the movie. It disintegrates right then and there. Another thing is why cram that many people together AND not lock all the doors? You either do one or the other. Just stupid shit to move the plot along honestly.
I did enjoy the sniper’s alley, hiding in the car to avoid the gas and soldiers, the subway, and the beauty of the empty stadium.
But other than that the movie was pretty weak. 28 Days Later was better Gorath.
Yeah it had good parts, but that part with the mom just completely ruins it. Usually I say things at the movie theater and people just sit there quietly, but when she appeared I basically said “REALLY! GET OUT OF HERE!” and a bunch of people laughed. Then we proceeded to make fun of the rest of the movie because I could not take it seriously after that.
I’ll give you a legit complaint. I’ll give you several, actually. I’ll even keep my Avatar fan-boyism aside from this and not bring in “well it wasn’t like the show when blah blah blah”
The acting was terrible, absolutely terrible. Katara and Aang (ong?) sounded like they were just bored or tired, I felt like the actors really did not want to be there. Like after every scene, I could just hear them in my head saying “ok guys, thats scenes done, lets go do the next one real fast”. I honestly felt like they were trying to say and perform the parts as fast as possible so that they could go sleep or take a shit or something.
The plot. Everyone in this show has a backstory, all of which are very important. So, how do they decide to have them told? Very sloppily, either told off hand and to the side, or just weird… When Zuko explains his backstory, I felt like it was so forced out. He was telling the kid stuff that didn’t need to be said, or just in general would NOT have been said in normal conversation.
The “bending” bothers me to no end. I mean, it doesn’t even look like they’re bending, not most of the time anyways. Most of the time they just jumped up, twirled around for a bit, dude a few cool martial arts moves and BAM, bending just happened. Like, somehow the water knew just what to do. Or air. What ever. The fight scenes were cool, don’t get me wrong, but the martial arts behind the bending was just… it bothered me a lot. And not even as a fan, they just looked goofy, like they TOO were forced. I feel like the actors were just told to freestyle and the CGI guys would just figure out what to put where ever they wanted to. Or maybe the CGI guys were given a newer script and the actors kept an old out dated one.
The “spirit world” really bothered me. It never really did anything. Ong just kept going in and out of it, he never really got anything done in there. It was also kind of forced in there. The stupid dragon only really told him what he already knew. So pointless.
I don’t mind that they changed some stuff, I really don’t. Heck, the fact that Aang gets ambushed and thats how you see the blue spirit, rather then the whole searching for frogs thing, that was semi good writing to be honest. He needed to introduce a character and at the same time save time, and it was done well. Just, the acting wasn’t done right. This whole movie could have been done a lot better and on a smaller budget.
Wedding’s still going but I want to get this out of the way. Here’s the gist:
The acting is stiff, awkward, and unrealistic, compounded by some of the worst dialog this side of a Michael Bay film. About 3 lines were delivered well/believably. Everything else was garbage.
The effects and visual scope were great, yes… but who the fuck cares when there are no other redeeming qualities?
There wasn’t just a fair bit of exposition: there was almost nothing but exposition. No filmmaker or screenwriter worth his salt would let The Last Airbender get made before a serious rewrite.
Again, the “go in with low expectations” and “enjoy it for what it is” arguments are bullshit. Why do I have to lower my standards? Why can Pixar or Dreamworks make amazing family movies this year, worthy of real praise, while M. Night’s entry needs its audience to first lower their expectations? Fuck that: a bomb is a bomb, regardless of where the bar is set.*
Dr. B’s wives are logic and reason.*
I feel the reason the dialogue and acting seems so sub par is because of the copious amounts of cuts that were made. The dialogue might not be so bad had all of the build up to the dramatic scenes still been there. And obviously the story telling itself takes a big hit because of the stuff cut out.
I keep saying it: The length is the problem. Too much stuff is missing which is why everything seems rushed, cheap, lame and out of place. If there is a “3 hour version” out there I’ll bet it would be much more worth it’s weight.

This video tells you all you need to know. Fuck M.Night.
Oh and LOL,this is so awesome.
You’re cruel for even suggesting this.
never watched the show and didnt care for it. The movie was alright, there was some parts in the movie that just dragged on and on. Hopefully Avatar 2 will not drag on with pointless crap
um. that makes no sense.
And this is why they make nothing but remakes
Everytime they try to make a movie out of a “hidden gem” everyone boycotts it because the main character is the wrong skin color.
Ive seen what the cartoon looks like, but guess ive been to busy watching other anime to really get into avatar. Looked to much like a kids show.
