Avatar: The Legend of Korra - Book 4

Best review for Avatar yet xD

After reading this I can see the problem clearly now, it needed another director and two movies per season. I mean christ cutting out the Kyoshi warriors and repositioning the Deserter to movie three is bad enough but no humor? Doesn’t bode well for when Toph rolls around

Nevermind that if Aang’s name was pronounced by a Chinese or Japanese person (which as we all know Avatar takes a lot of culture from), it very likely would have been pronounced almost exactly as you just said (more like the ā€œangā€ in Ang Lee).

But since they pronounced it like Americans from day one, yes, you are correct that it’s wrong.

That was punny.

So now i’ve read that the movie cost 280 million dollars to make, money that they’ll certainly not be able to recoup even with DVD sales based on the horrid reviews.

I think this is final nail in the coffin for M.Night, no movie company short of Uwe Bol’s would consider him for a job. He’s now a terminal liability.

I cannot believe I paid money for thisā€¦ā€œmovieā€ I hate myself and have never had buyers remorse for movie tickets until this day. I feel bad for asking my GF to watch this with me. M. Night I gave him one more chance with this movie and he ruined one of my all time fave cartoons. Even going in with no expectations I left with even LESS than nothing. I’m too tired to even express my disgust for this movie…

the first 10-15 minutes of that movie was pure gold, one of the best scenes in a zombie movie imo. I was sOooo hyped after I saw it I thought it would be the greatest sequel ever, especially after how good ā€˜28 days later’ was.

Little did I know the rest of the movie would be crap -_-.

4? was there some secretly released season or something?

I really, really want to write out a huge report of how I would have made a Last Airbender movie, to flesh out what I posted. But I keep thinking about how big a waste of time it would be, given how deep M. Night’s talons must be…

Dr. B : M. Night Shyamalan :: Stepping in dog poo : Stepping in lava

I got a feeling the studio probably is gonna take writing duties from M.Night if they do a sequel so i think those changes could come for another movie. There’s no way you put the same guy in charge especially with all the backlash.

And why did shymalan portray his own race as antagonists? Is he a self-hater or some shit? It would be one thing if it actually made sense with the storyline, but this is straight out of left field.

I’m never recommending this movie to people who haven’t seen the show. A lot of people have Netflix now. You can watch all 3 seasons on instant watch. You don’t pay anymore than you already did and you don’t have to suffer through the terribleness that this movie is.

Nah Rosalina’s Latina. Her name name even sounds latina and it rhymes with Selena. You know how some latina girls dye their hair blond.

Although I have no plans on watching this movie since I boycotted M.Night a long time ago because I personally think he’s a garbage movie maker, I commend people who admit that they liked this movie despite the general consensus to the opposite.

Reminds me when I was one of only three people that liked 28 Weeks later and got jumped on for daring to say it out loud, but fortunately I outgrew that high school conformity bullshit way of thinking a long time ago.

^ ā€œLiking something despite general consensus to the contraryā€ isn’t admirable by virtue of being what it is. Nobody, here or ANYWHERE, defending this movie has given anything remotely resembling reason: bullshit arguments and blatantly untrue claims don’t make compelling cases. If one likes something and can’t defend why, one should question why they like it, regardless of popular opinion; to do otherwise is childish.

Everyone loves Dr. B, not because of conformity, but because he saved the human race from the Deep Sharks.

BS man. I actually gave a legit reasoning why i liked the movie.
I could go more in-depth if you want.

People’s reasoning for liking the movie is opinion based.

Actually I’ll go on ahead and break it down with my personal critique.

Acting:

I was surprised by exactly how few issues I had with the acting in this movie. The major faults I found came from two sources. First, Nicola Peltz.

Bless her heart she tried but she always looked like she was about to cry, That’s not to say she didn’t have moments where she channeled Katara beautifully, she did. But her emotions seemed far too forced.

Asif Mandvi (God I hope I spelled that right) as Zhao. Ugh. every scene with him just dragged.

Dev Patel was GREAT as Zuko. I hope this movie does well just so we can get to book three and see him on the heroes side.

Irohs actor (Can’t for the life of me remember his name) He played Uncle Iroh very well. He was able to show kindness and love towards his nephew, humor, sadness and rage. I suppose that’s to be expected from an actor of his talent and career.

Noah Ringer, For a first outing he was great. And people PLEASE keep in mind this is the boys very first time in a real role. He struggles a little in places but he captures Aangs kindness and sadness well. Bits reminded me of the episode ā€œThe Serpents Passā€ especially when the Dragon spirit confronted Aang and made him realize why the water was swellign when he was trying to bend.

Jackson Rathbone, Sokka’s humor and courage were quite aptly portrayed by Jackson without being slapsticky.

Effects:

THe bending effects were very nicely done. Air was hard to see until Aang let it go but everything else was really well done. Especially the Water Bending effects.

Creature effects were 60/40. There were moments when Momo looked to be completely real. Appa had these moments too, there’s one scene however that just screams ā€œFAKEā€ and that’s after the southern air temple but before the decision to head north. The Lizard Mounts from the Fire Nation were beautifully animated.

The Dragon Spirit was, well it was obvious they put a LOT of work into it.

And the Exposition, yeah they over did it a fair bit on that. Again i think that if the movie ran longer there wouldn’t have been such need to reinforce the story over and over again. There would have been more time to allow the movie to build up on its own instead of having the characters bluntly stating the obvious.

At the end of the day for anyone that wants to see the movie, don’t go in with high expectations and don’t go in expecting to hate the movie and odds are you’ll probably end up being entertained. And even if you hate the movie afterward, more power to you then.

ā€œParker, Joe’s 29 minute delivery is a promise man.ā€

OK I couldn’t see Last Airbender because my girl forced me to see the Karate Kid with her (good movie by the way), but I will see it tomorrow. And I will hate on it if I think I will write a Jim Cornette like rant if it is as terrible as people make it out to be. Also Shyamalan is an assclown for changing the names to correct Asian pronounciation and not keeping the characters asian (and I don’t want to hear anybody say claim they aren’t Asians).

Your reasoning was not legit. Will elaborate after this wedding. Dr. B man-moist yadda yadda yadda.
