My bad…but still, Zuko was using moves that he probably learned from the other benders in Aang’s group…or his uncle.

Redirecting Lightning comes from firebending since lightning itself is an extension of fire(in Avatar). The only people that can redirect lightning(or who has been seen doing it) are Zuko, Azula, Ozai, Uncle Iroh, and Aang. All who can firebend.
Dunno where you got waterbender based from.

Blue fire is probably hotter. They even said it’s because she trained it a bunch.
It’s just that clashing fire is more about volume and velocity than heat. If you watch the fight, Azula’s flames were still much larger than Zuko’s most of the time anyway. It just wasn’t enough to break through his defenses anymore. She was losing because she was frustrated, unfocused and unbalanced, not because Zuko was the better bender.

Iroh said he based the maneuver on waterbending techniques. That being said, you probably do need to be able to manipulate fire before you can use it.

Grey Diselle did a really great acting job in the finale though. You actually feel pretty bad for Azula when she breaks down at the end. That’s the kind of sobbing you only get with real despair: full of regret and sorrow. Like when you know you fucked up your life bad, and everything you ever knew is down the shitter.

They sort of rushed her mental breakdown, but it was pretty believable. I’ve known people like her before (minus the shooting flames and sociopathic warlord part); infuriatingly smug and composed, but they self destruct really badly if you manage to crack their shell.

Writing was a shitload better than the last couple episodes too.

This series had a great ending. This has been a great show all around.

Only issue with it is that they didn’t show what happened to Azula. Given her fire bending prowess, she’s probably rotting away in a specialized cell the way Hama and those water benders were.

I’m guessing they couldn’t figure out a resolution for her that would do the character justice, so they just left her out. Would make sense, since they were obviously rushed – given that spirit bending BS.

Yea I would have liked to seen what happened to her. Also Zuko’s mother. I’d like to have known if his father told him where she was. I’d heard that there may be more seasons of Avatar but the writers promised that Aang would face the fire Lord in season 3 but that is just rumor about more seasons I think though it seemed they were kinda setting us up for it with the where’s my mother question and never showing her at the end. Might be one of those if we do another season, set the pace kind of things. Or not. Who knows. Only time will tell.

I got the impression that Azula was still more powerful and skilled than Zuko, hence his concern about not being able to beat her one on one, but once he saw how unhinged she was, he knew he had a chance of beating her.
Azula still had the power advantage, but her insanity and rage really hampered her performance and she didn’t pace herself, hence the heavy breathing.

Zuko on the other hand was calm and collected and used his power and more importantly, his skills much more effectively.
Of course I’m stating the obvious.

I had a roommate who was exactly like Azula. She was all uppity and condescending when things went her way, but when things didn’t she would go absolutely mental. :looney:

IIRC, I’ve only seen Iroh, Zuko, & Aang redirect lightning and Ozai, Azula, & Iroh have been shown shooting lightning.

Evidence of Katara’s great power is show in ep 16 when she is facing her moms murderer. She STOPPED the rain. Just think about that.

i love how ang keeps looking to past avatars for help and their all like ā€œman up and stop being a bitchā€

lol i can see the seven swords/seven samurai influence in the white lotus.

Funny thing was, he threw a big ā€œfuck youā€ in all their faces and stopped Ozai without killing him anyway. That was something I liked, that he was able to stick to what he was taught and still save the world.

Oh yeah the whole ā€˜all life is important and should be preserved’ was probably a really important lesson Aang learned.

lol, yeah but u can’t blame him cuz al lthe other avatars found out they were avatars when they were at least 16 years old and never had to fight as a kid

the monks taught him about preserving life, but they all acended into the next dimension when they were attacked by hte fire nation

but aang is the avatar, he can’t disattach himself from this world, so the past avatars told him that he has to sacrifice his own personal creed (to not kill) in order to save the world (and kill firelord)

but then the lion told him that before ppl bent elements they bent energy so he bent the firelord’s energy lol

but they really did the firlord justice, i believed that he was fully ready to destory the whole world and all life

also, since we are talking about explanations of how bending works, i like to think that tough learned how to metal bend becuz she was blind so her earth ending was hieghtened enouhg +plus her skill = her discovering earth bending

i wanted to see her metal bend all those ships and make them crash into each other lol

i also liked it when the avatar took a sphere of rock and turned it into machine gun bullets lol

also, the fire bender in the white lotus group who was flying, reminded me of ironman lol

lol he went silver surfer broken wit kung fu grip lol.

The creators have a question and answer panel at SDCC… Zuko’s mom, another possible season and Azula’s fate will be the top three questions next week:rofl:

Actually, there is talks of a miniseries…

The novelization of Sozin’s Comet mentions that the ā€œHealing can beginā€ when it comes to Azula; I just hope M. Night Imakeshittymoviesylan doesn’t fuck up the live action movies if they plan on incorporating it on the Hollywood big screen.

Anyone catch the captain planet reference during the Phoenix King episode?

Sokka: We got Earth! Fire! Wind! Water! Space Sword!

Hey are they going to replay the movie anytime soon?

You can watch on http://avatarchapters.org/ and http://anime-media.com/category/avatar-the-last-airbender-episodes/

There’s no way I’m waiting for Nick to re-air those episodes when I can watch it whenever I want.

Really? I thought the series said/or the writers (somewhere) said blue flames > normal flames. It’s just Azula is so crazy she’s one of the few to do blue flames most of the time.

I guess this is where we disagree. I view Azula as better, but insanity made her lose. In the last fight, Azula seemed to fight how Zuko did in the beginning of the series - just all out fire attacks. She has been way more controlled in her fighting before. And yes, I’d say it was a lucky trip. You know she’s insanely agile. Hell, she was able to avoid Aang and Co. attacks without even firebending.

ugh…

ok, maybe 'power wasn’t the word to use.

obviously she has (had) power within that she has not harnessed…

but the different skills/techniques/harnessing of the power came outta nowhere.
