Not sure how they can follow up the epic-ness, Korra basically transcended spirits and became a god/demi-god. Somewhere between Book 3 and 4 I imagine the world will learn humans and spirits can’t live together and she’ll have to close the portals.
[details=Spoiler]The worst thing they could have done is cut the link to the past avatars. RIP Aang, Kiyoshi, Roku, the previous water avatar, and Wan. You were too good for this show anyway.
If light cannot exist without dark and vice versa, where is the dark spirit? The light spirit didn’t die, even when ‘killed’, but the dark spirit died for real? lol[/details]
That’s what I was thinking, but that final speech had a sense of finality to it. “The world has changed forever” or something to that effect.
Edit: It was probably in regard to the portals being left open, but the fact that she said it right after the spiel about the spirits is a bit misleading.
I had the same question as Beta regarding Vatu,[details=Spoiler] but as Rava said (in the same episode where she “died” no less), neither of them can be killed. I don’t think the writers have overlooked that.[/details]
There is none, at least not from the Western Hemisphere. This is the Best Cartoon of this Generation. I’m loving it, and to some of the haters…their will always be them, regardless of the fact.
It’s got me pumped & to be quite honest…Ginger each time looks hotter and hotter. Always felt Asami was the prettiest, while Korra was just cute, but Ginger is drop dead sexy, the shot of her in that poster w/ Bolin…Priceless.
I loved Aang as the Avatar, however Korras personality makes her in my opinion far more compelling, because she does not carry as a pure (Meaning she’s more quick to temper etc, etc) of a persona in contrast to Aang. Great Series & I’m really looking forward to Season 3 to see what will now take place. It would be really cool in my opinion if they did a few short mini-series of the previous Avatars so we could get an even more thorough look at their personalities instead of just small bits.
Excellent Series & I’m really looking forward to Season 3 to see what will now take place.

Korra vs Unalak reminded me of a Godzilla flick lmao. Shooting chest beams like Guyver and all just reminded me of Atomic Breaths. It honestly had me sitting their thinking that I was going to hear the epic Godzilla roar in the background w/ the King of the Monsters rolling down showing them how to really do a monster battle.

I still do not believe that the “broken” relationship between Korra & Mako will last. Unless she follows the path of someone like Wan in solo-mode…which is not out of the realm of impossibility however not many times does the main female protagonist & the main love interest not end w/ one another in these things. For it seems to have that pseudo feeling of being almost like a typical korean drama. Yet if Mako does stick completely w/ Asami this time for sure, then I’m 100% completely fine with that since that was my initial vote anways. That dude is a Natural Pimp.
See it’s funny how you change your opinion from “best animated series” to “best current animated series” in order to sabotage my list of cartoons, but it’s even funnier that I STILL have cartoons to name off that I enjoy more than Korra.
The last 4 episodes of the finale were fantastic, they elevated what it means to be the Avatar and wrapped up the story quite nicely. Pretty much everything I predicted happened.
Spoiler
-Energybending once again proves to be the most highest form of bending.
-The cyclical effect from Wan to Korra symbolized renewal.
-The fights were as awesome as bloodless/danger-less fights can go.
-Now that they’ve proven that Energybending is something inherent to all humans like the Lion Turtle said, I hope next season we’ll see more of them. The spirit portals now have free access after all… that tree is open to errybody!
The introduction of Avatar Wan evolved the series drastically from what it once was, and while I there’s still room for improvement from a storytelling perspective, I doubt any continuation can beat the epicness of the finale.
Lastly, that part where Bolin told Mako that Asami didn’t want to see him in the prison because of her father’s imprisonment resonated deeply to just how screwed over Asami has been in the story.
I usually don’t fawn over animated characters, but Asami really grew on me. Smart, beautiful, multi-talented, kind (to a fault), honest and resourceful, all traits any guy would want in a girlfriend. Shame fiction and reality don’t mesh… *sigh *
