This last ep was actually decent, because fucking Korra wasnât in it for 99% of the episode. Was hoping the shipping stuff was over but looks like Mako is going to try to get back with Asami. Whoop dee fucking doo
'Dat evil sly smile from Varrick though⌠damn.
@white shadow lol @ calling Unalaq Scar. Perfect name for him
Not exactly making me want to watch this show again.
I thought we had some really good discussion in this thread, but it was driven more by the last series over this one. By itself, Korra doesnât seem to be driving discussion, not positive anyway. Oh well. I wouldnât be reading this thread if spoilers would bother me, so I will just wait and see if you guys get really into it and enjoy it over a few more weeks time. Maybe something awesome will happen, a new character gets introduced, or Korra just dies or something (haha I know that last one isnât happening).
This is extremely old reply, but technically one of Tenzinâs kids could have been the avatar. Katarra is from the water tribe, making Tenzin (by blood) from there. Itâs not explained how much from a nation the person must be.
I get why they have Korra the way she is. Aangâs background made him very spiritually aware and he had to be mature during their war with the Fire Nation. They needed to make Korra different, so now the Avatar pretty much knows all the elements, but itâs her spiritual side that needs work. Itâs justâŚthey took it too far and sheâs annoying.
No they couldnât. The Avatar cycle is Earth > Fire > Air > Water. The âAirâ part of the cycle got used up by Aang so Tenzin and his kids canât quality as they are airbenders.
Tenzin is an airbender, yes. But he still has water tribe blood in him and so does his children. Unless the specifics are that the new Avatar must come from parent(s) that bend the proper ability (in this case water), I donât see how Katarraâs grandchildren cannot qualify. Do they have to learn the elements in a certain order? Looking at Korra, yes sheâs from the water tribe, but she learned 3 elements at such an early age. We donât know which she learned first. Actually, I usually see her use fire bending more than the others, although thatâs probably because of convenience.
The whole concept of benders of different elements having children is still new, with the only grandchild of said mixing (that I know of) are Tenzinâs kids. It was shocking to see children within the same family have different bending powers. Going with this, Iâd say Kyaâs children (I donât think she has kids though) have the potential to be air benders. It wouldnât surprise me.
Edit: I realize I may be stretching the realm of possibility. But Iâm just saying whatâs possible, not that itâs fact or what Iâm strongly guessing for the show. Besides, these writers pull out some pretty crazy stuff (Iâm looking at the brokenness of water bending).
Tenzinâs kids couldnât have been the avatar either way. Once the avatar dies the next avatar is born immediately after so Tenzinâs kids couldnât have been an avatar
Youâre right about that point and definitely why Tenzinâs kids canât be the avatar. Beyond that though, I wonder if they will mention said possibilities - grandchildren being water because their grandmother was, even though father is an earth bender. As far as I can tell, the way the abilities are inherited are random.
