Avatar: The Legend of Korra - Book 4

I wonder if there could ever be a villainous Avatar.

I think avatars just take on the look they perceive themselves to look

Yep, they are. Aang’s oldest isn’t even a bender, sort of like kids and skin/eye color some traits can skip a generation so you have a kid that looks more like one of your spouse’s parents then either of you. Bending is the same way from the looks of it, probably sucks for guys with mixed bending families like Bolin and Mako, if they don’t trust one another or their spouses. Imagine the woman they are with suddenly has a kid that sort of looks like their sibling and has that type of bending.

We’ve only ever seen mixed bending come directly from parents that are of two different bending types/nations. There’s no in universe reason to believe that Tenzin is capable of fathering anything but airbenders or non-benders, unless he had married Lin in which case they could have had a mix of earth, air, and non benders.

The real wild card would be Bumi, if he had any offspring.

Reborn cycle works to keep balance of the culture and philosophy of every nation, not racial purity.

Any descendant of Aang could be an avatar, as long as it is immersed in the Air Nomad culture.

And I guess if a kid is born an avatar when the Air Nomad is the next in the cycle, it will instantly develop airbending powers.

Aang should have energybent some of the air acolytes

I know for a fact when Asami kissed Mako everyone was like

acting like shocked bitch niggas?

is this series still ass btw, has it gotten any better?

Korra time

Damn epic beginning already

damn why did they give us the legend of korra when we could’ve gotten the legend of Wan

Best Episode

That was seriously two of the best episodes in the entire series.

Now that’s how you do an origin story. Seeing the legend of Wan made me want more of the pre-Avatar world. It looks awesome

Did you guys hear Serena Williams as one of the sages

Great, this episode is causing huge arguments whether it contradicts the origins of bending from the first series. Good lord

I don’t really see why it should. In the original season the Lion Turtle said that in the era before the Avatar people bent the energy inside of themselves ( something to that tune), that has not been contradicted because we have not seen the era predating the first Avatar.

The cause of the arguing is that in the first series it established that people learn bending from animals and Moon. Firebenders learned from Dragons, Earthbenders learned from badger moles, Airbenders from sky bison and waterbenders from the moon. Legend of Wan comes along and shows that the Lion Turtles simply gave people the power of the element.

These two episodes were amazing!

I loved the whole origin story and how he became the first Avatar. The spirit animals and the whole light/dark entities were a highlight too, there was so much about it that wowed me.

The turtle-lions have me asking all kinds of questions though. How did they did they come into being? Why were they the original holders? And aside from the one Aang met, what happened to the others?

But it does kinda contradict what we knew from A:TLA, where bending the elements was supposedly taught by animals. Maybe humans already had the elements, but didn’t properly understand how to wield them until observing animals movements? I think might’ve been the point with Wan learning how to bend fire, but I’m not quite sure that’s what happened.

You could still argue that the actual styles of bending themselves were perfected by the spirit animals and that the Lion Turtles merely gave humans the power to do bending in the first place…

But it really just sounds like a bunch of nitpicking if you ask me… About par for the course for this fandom thus far.

Again that wasn’t disproved, I think that it is clear that the series raised the distinction between individuals crudely using the elements and individuals bending the elements in a manner that resembles Art. When the villager fought Wan they were amazed at how he bended the elements, they could not compete with him, Wan learned how to bend that way from the Dragon.
