Avatar: The Legend of Korra - Book 4

You guys are calling bad writing on speculation alone. Let the series ride out

Really Aries? Just because Aang was the messiah doesn’t mean he’s father of the year. He was still traveling the world as that was his duty and heavily involved in the rebuilding of society after the war ended. I could easilty believe him being a shitty dad.

Really, Hawkingbird? Taking his other children to a single vacation is too much to ask? Only fathers of the year can do that? I don’t believe he was busy 100% of his time.

So now this show is saying aang is a bad father…well good bye korra I thought the show couldn’t get worse but I guess I was wrong.

Now it’s fucking over the OG cast lol…congrats korra.

We don’t know his reasoning behind him spending so much time with Tenzin and neglecting his other children. It could what mentioned above about Aang wanting to preserve Air Nomad culture and Tenzin being the only child he had that could do it. Aang must have not taken his other kids to the Air Temples neither as none of the monks knew who they were.

They never said Aang was a bad father, but it’s not unthinkable that he would have showered a lot of extra attention on the only airbender born in like a century and a half.

Love how people forget it’s a two part episode and chances are they’ll flip it next week to show that Aang was a good father.

Aang can do no wrong.

Really wish Uncle Iroh’s VA didn’t pass, so we could have had more episodes of TLA instead of LOK.

Only an idiot of your caliber would honestly believe that Mako’s passing had anything to do with TLA not going on longer.

They replaced Iroh VA in the last season.

That reminds me, Korra’s mom va sounded a lot like Mai, Zuko’s GF. Anybody knows if they are the same.

I’m not the best on VA recognition but I can go take a look.

Got it.

No they aren’t the same.

Mai’s voiced by Cricket Leigh.

Senna is voiced by Alex McKenna.

Why is it that whenever you guys see this show you see nothing but problems? Your really overblowing small things and making them seem like massive problems, and other things i don’t even know why you guys are mad.

Outside of that one moment with tenzin where she was acting bratty, the show has been good so far. We’re seeing the norths hate of the south turning into something bigger. Martial Law, civil unrest, and the spirits aren’t even fully revealed as to what role they play yet. Everytime i see complaining, its never on whats going on. Its just

"well yea story is interesting, but tenzin was totally wrong with his bro and sis. series is shit.
Aang not be absolutley godlike? Series is shit
Korra is doing things in a way thats not like aang. series is shit

Its like you guys still think this is the last airbender. These are new characters, new stories. Give the series some time before blowing every minuscule thing out of proportion.

It’s the internet you can’t really expect much better out of them.

The story is dull and aimless and the characters suck…worst yet is that they are now shifting on TLA by suggesting aang a bad father.

Only thing that will save this story now is if Lin rapes korra and asami.

Are people really tripping over Aang having favorites? I mean Tenzin was the only airbender among his children, so maybe he did focus a bit more on him and got along with him best.

This doesn’t mean Aang was a bad parent though, it just means he was flawed and not the best Father he could’ve been to all his kids. I’m pretty sure he loved them a lot and would put himself in harm’s way if it meant protecting them. They said it themselves that Aang focused way more on his duties as the Avatar than his own family, and that’s reflected in the way Tenzin acts. Tenzin probably took on the burden of responsibility his Father had partly because of how much he looked up to him, and partly because the lives of future airbenders falls on his shoulders.

It’s good characterization imo. We’re learning more about who Aang was through his children, and finding out how he wasn’t so perfect at everything as he got older. That doesn’t mean he was a dick considering they all turned out to be decent people, but how everything he did came to effect the people/things he left behind.

This all goes to back to what the show is about. It’s all about the Avatar, whether that’s the legacy that Aang left behind, or how Korra deals with that weight of responsibility in her current time (all for better or worse).

Not gonna watch the second book but I agree with everyone who says it is bad.

Good points hatin dudes, I am on team hate boat. I bet the backgrounds are still stupid shitty digital painting scribbles. Good job making the the team have the same fucking dynamic as the last show.

I actually thought the sibling dynamic between the Aang’s offspring was pretty nice, and fleshed out the characters a bit more. It felt more “real” than the crybaby Korra crap they needed to hit us with again. Yes, Korra has legitimate concerns, but the manner in which they chose Korra to handle them felt like a character regression for the sake of moving plot.

And I for one don’t equate characters being teenagers (and in relationships) with bad plot, but only if it’s done properly and not turned into a crutch. Young Justice is a perfect example of “teenagers being teenagers” without being overtly obnoxious, and it was massively entertaining.

Lastly, please guys, don’t fall back on the whole “It’s a kid show” defense. It’s clearly an admixture of different themes meant to attract a wide range of audiences; the same way Pixar adds mature subtexts and jokes for the older crowd in their “kid” films. Hell, it’s been done since the Tex Avery and Chuck Jones era.

Korra just hits me with those sad moments out of nowhere man
