As awesome as the last scene with Tarrlok and Amno was Especially if the theroy that Amon knew what Tarrlok was doing due to his ablity to blood bend, really hoping that’s not the last we see of them. Would have been great to see all the stuff that made amon feel bending should be done away with.
I think Amon and Tarlok both come back, but are good guys now. I mean that was just a little boat explosion, that couldn’t possibly kill them. Iroh did survive a direct hit hit from a rocket with just an arm scratch. Amon did survive a direct hit from lightning. Mako did survive being banged 4 times into walls without having severe bone fractures/concussions. Sokka/Toph/Suki did survive a head on collision of 2 blimps with just a little leg injury to show for it.
I loved everything about the finale except the last 2 minutes.
finale

Seriously. I mean I pretty sure was sure that Korra would be able to give everyone’s bending back, but god damn that THC into all the Avatars was literally a frame. I mean we all know Avatar state was broken, and it would have gotten to that point, but in TLA we we’re given foreshadowing and pretense for the energy beding.[/details]
realizing now that a second season wasn’t intended kind of make the ending understandable, and it’s still a great ending to a great mini-series, but now that it’s come to ordering seasons piece by piece, i’m afraid the decline may start to begin.
EDIT: One more thing. Needs a Bumi spinoff. Now. Yesterday.
MakO basically cheats and gets 2 bitches without lifting a finger. Meanwhile Bolin musters up all he has to get rejected SO HORDE gaining a single pity date, also he’s a lowtier bender compared to almost everyone else, nigga can’t even metalbend. Not to mention that he’ll always be a poor man’s Sokka’s shadow.
I like Bolin but nigga can’t catch a break. Anyone else think he’ll man up and be more of an alpha male in season2?
I could see why it’s tempting to want to see at leats a training montage for Korra’s resolution but considering all she went through at the very least I felt it was emotionally plausible for the season to end the way it did for her, and I definitely wouldn’t say it’s a fairy tale ending. Remember what I said before about how I’d be salty if the show ended a certain way? Well I’m not in fact I’m happy things went the way they did.
I am hoping Bolin steps up his bending skills in Season 2. I’d like to see him learn to Metal Bend and be a bit more creative in his earth bending while fighting. Now that’s some training i wouldn’t mind seeing.

I got an Itachi/Sasuke vibe from this last part…
Bolin will take Asami. Lin will also take him under her wing and he’ll join the cops (after Korra returns the Force’s bending). This is my prediction.
In general:
Korra managing to airbend seemed about the right time. Honestly, they were running out of space for it to happen. Sometimes all you need is some emotional content for things to click, and stealing Mako’s bending can’t really get much more of a trauma aside from death. She’s been training for this for the entire season, you can’t really pull the Deus Ex Machina card here.
I for one thought she might have gone Avatar State there like Aang vs Yakone, so the airbending was somewhat of a surprise. Her pulling out the pro-bending moves and Spartan Wind Kick makes perfect sense. She’s not Aang or Tenzin, she’s more like Meelo - more raw and instinctual. Once she figured out what was needed to generate air, she obviously adapted some fire and waterbending bending forms and channeled air through them instead. Amon had no chance. He’s never faced a real airbender one on one.
It really all does make sense when you think about it. Korra is a fucking prodigy; once she learns how something works, she’s learnt it for good.
I think someone or something will be strong enough to take Korra in avatar state head on in season 2.
i guess my problem isn’t that amon’s plan wasn’t possible. he could easily throw them all in prison and refuse them the opportunity to reproduce. or kill them, but i’m assuming that wasn’t in play for this series.
i guess its that in this story, there wasn’t a precedent for what he COULD do. in TLA, the fire lord killed people. he enslaved people. Death was something that was in play, even if it was a watered down, off screen, spiritual side of death, death was always in play.
but taking away bending was this story’s substitute for death. it was the limit set for evil in this story, and its hard to expect more than what was shown. i think you can say amon could have done alot of things, but unless there is a precedent set previously and that there’s no way of him doing it now, anything he would have done afterwards would be a drastic change of character. yeah, i guess he could make bending illegal, or banish them, or kill them, but these things have no basis and should be considered null since the story is all but wrapped up.
all that i can assume as a viewer is that amon was planning to take everyone power and possibly lock them up for extended periods of time. but i can’t assume that he’ll do anything more, and i can’t assume he would’ve done anything more since its over. i can see that there would be more things in play if his plan was elaborated on (having more of a plan or some bigger goal) or if the writers put more in play (amon shows the willingness to kill someone).
it is a kid show, so that’s why i’m not looking into it too much. but knowing that the writers set amon’s limit to only taking benders powers, and his plans not seeming to be anything else but that, it seems weird that they would only undermine their own substitute of death. saying that you can’t ever really stop bending unless you willing to kill like the fire lord did, it seems like poor writing not to set that option up for amon… or at least not to explain his plans in a way that they go beyond what he was doing.
in the same episode he is enacting his ultimate end game to end bending, you have half of the episode dedicated to him saying that what he is doing won’t really stop benders from reproducing or end bending completely. and i can’t assume he was going to do more than what he was doing because it wasn’t explicitedly said now that the story is over.
yeah, its a fast paced show and its a kid show, so i’m not expecting amon to just end people, but i think that’s the problem with wrapping everything up the way that they did… in the end, amon doesn’t seem all that buff or well thought out; he just seems like a guy with a gimmick that wouldn’t truly conclude the way he wanted unless he took that extra step that the writers never bothered to show he was willing to take. you can fanfic it up and explain it in whatever way you want (i’m obviously a huge proponent of that) but the writers shouldn’t leave that up to you…
not his fault at all. You have to be in the Bei Fong School of metal bending to learn. The police are the only metal benders around. It shows it in The Promise.
Yeah I have. Vol.2 released last month, I should buy it off amazon again. Got Vol.1 for $6.
Which is why I think Koh and Kuruk will show up again. Aside from being the last Waterbending Avatar, Koh likes punishing arrogant Avatars. And Who knows, maybe othe Spirit world spirits thik the avatars each failed something in some sort of way.
And I really hope there was something/someone more exciting than Yakon for Aang to fight after Ozai. We can use more wierd benders.
You know, I look at Amon in a completely different way now that I’ve seen the finale.
Why?
Spoiler
A fake scar, though? Really? Mainly because the ending felt rushed, but I’m going by the fact that it was a time skip.
Though it’s kinda sad that even after all the shit Asami went through, she still seems to have haters for no reason.
I’ll say this, Amon had dedication to keep that paint on. What if he casually decided to not have it on that day? Then he wouldn’t be able to take off his mask.
What up, y’all? I recently began DL’ing episodes of this show last week to catch up with the rest of you. This is nothing you haven’t heard before, but I’ll say it anyway…
The Legend of Korra is godlike!
I just watched the finale yesterday and it was incredible. To those of you complaining about how they ever-so-conveniently wrapped everything up in these episodes, you have to remember that TLK was originally supposed to be a 12-episode miniseries. Korra’s story was supposed to end with what we just saw, but Nickelodeon commissioned more episodes to be made so we’re getting another season. I just hope that Mike and Bryan can continue to bring the awesome with season two. Speaking of which, I hope we get a look at the rest of the Avatar world to see how much it has changed.
On another note, if we really wanted to get Korra into the Avatar State, someone should have just told her that James Cameron deebo’d the word “AVATAR” from her show.
She doesn’t have to kill them, or do anything particularly violent. She can just imprison them or remove their bending. Yakone’s punishment was imprisonment. It was the decision of Aang solely to remove his bending after he attacked the courthouse. Judge, Juror, and executioner in that situation.
You can get into the ethical question of whether giving anyone that much power is right or wrong, but regardless that is what the PURPOSE of the Avatar is. To keep balance at all costs. He/She works in the system until the system fails or goes against “the balance” and then he/she corrects it however they see fit because no one can stop them. Of course they are going to try and do in the way benefits everyone but there are no perfect solutions. Also had Korra raped Amon after he blew up half the city, she would have been resented but that would have been perfectly justifiable. Especially if she offered to get them better representation (the council is all benders).
Also if Korra could have beaten Amon in a 1v1 fight his movement NEVER would have gotten big. People only rallied around Amon because he showed he was strong and capable enough to actually force his ideal onto republic city. Even in real world politics power flexing is important as it has been through all of history … I mean … I don’t know what to say to someone who ignores all of human history as an example. You might not be able to kill an idea but you can definitely augment it to make it more palatable. They could of wiped out Amon and just put up another representative for them (hell could have even been a puppet representative if you want to get real dark and political).
The only way they can prevent avatar state from being a factor is keep the conflicts relatively small. No assaults on the city, no endangered world, no violent gangs, or basically … no real threat. It’s not like through political action only they could have gotten rid of benders. Non-benders could work for better rights and representation, but that isn’t exactly something the avatar would fight as essentially that’s a civil rights movement. I mean they could try to quell the benders hatred for non-benders but watching some combination of riot cop/politician doesn’t sound that interesting when the riot can pretty much be quelled at will unless some greater conspiracy is at work.
Beautiful people always have haters.
Technically its possible for a being to exist that is a threat to Korra. We know that some folks are genetically unique like yakone so its possible a fire bender like combustion man or some type of freak air bender to exist .Airbenders have more than likely migrated and had kids for centuries whose to say there isnt somebody who has secret airbending genes that get unlocked and can summon tornados whirlwinds etc or an Earthbender who can control gravity or something.
im not digging the lyrics, but the instrumentals man. The instrumentals.

The hip kids moved off of dubstep. Its all about dat post-dubstep and cloud-rap now
Sub genres. They fuck me up.
hmm… super benders
I’m much more curious about seeing a random born Air bender than any rock lord magneto type.
With all the wandering air benders of long ago, some may have wed into the other kingdoms. Perhaps if two non bending air bender descendants were to have kids their offspring could have their air bending abilities awakened.
If there is a time skip for season 2…
I think/hope Bolin will have started to learn under Lin the way of metal bending.
Need to see Mako lightning bend with those equalist gloves like a boss (new blue dragon).
Gran-gran Azula  with scary successor gran-kids… blue flame everywhere…
