[spoiler=]Same. I actually liked Mako and Asumi together. Kinda a shame the relationship died before it could progress further.
Amon being a bloodbender and Tarrlok’s brother. Wow, didn’t see that coming at all. Their dad was a real piece of shit.
I wasn’t feeling the ending too much. I was expecting for season 2 having Korra deal with the lost of her bending and still trying to fulfill her duties of the Avatar. Lame it was resolved in the final 5 minutes of the finale.
Amon ahem…Nartuk is a fraud!!! *cue FC Jago’s theme!! Korra loses her bending but gains airbending!!! IDON’TEVEN…
…then when there’s no hope, she finally connects with Aang and goes into Avatar state negating Amon aka The Fraud known as Nartuk’s effects and gains the knowledge of restoring bending!!
Damn Season 2, is going to have to bring to top this!!
[details=Spoiler]I wanted Korra to rage and destroy everything. I want an explaination to Amon forcing bending away with his bloodbending. I don’t like how Korra got auto-avatar state because of Aang like she should of at least had a rampage moment. Aang had went through some good training to learn how to at least go avatar state whenever he wanted. But now I’m wondering can Avatars teach new avatars anything they want or is it just energybending I’m confused and upset by the ending. I liked the idea of Amon being a bloodbender and some super amazing prodigy. I didn’t like how he they made him end (if he did die). Bloodbending also freaks me out I never knew it was actually painful. From the Hema episode in TLA I just thought they were kinda like puppets and I dont remember if they writhed in pain from it. I feel like nitpicking a lot of other things but whatever its over. Glad Mako manned the fuck up.
Edit to comment on Iroh’s badassness. Wish he got more time too. [/details]
Tarrlok reminds me of Zuko, now that I think about it so does Nartuk. If Azula was like Zuko I think the sibling dynamics would be the same as the waterbros in that one would be more talented than their sibling yet have the good nature not to torment them over it.
[details=Spoiler]Well next season is only 14 eps. right?? With something like that it still wouldn’t be enough for a couple of eps. from season 2 in order for it to be satisfactory. They don’t have the luxury of 20 eps. like the TLA so it would still be resolved pretty quick. Looking back it kinda would have been better if they would have never had wrote for her to have her bending taken away. The best thing we got out of it though was getting to see Noatak (and Mako’s new lightning technique). Maybe her keeping her bending but the stress of what all transpired getting her closer to the spiritual world and she finally has an actual talk with Aang like at the end.
Even with that it was a great episode. Now the wait for season 2 begins…
There’s no way they’re gone for good. There are still unanswered questions like how he was able to seal their bending with blood bending. Plus, I don’t think Noatak is the type of guy to just give up like that. A temporary retreat to compose himself? Maybe. But he’ll be back.
[details=Spoiler]I don’t like how just because Amon was that good of a bloodbender he supposedly manages to know how to remove bending. There’s never been anything in the series that has hinted at that type of advanced bending. Postulate all you want about it but I don’t like it.
The second thing I didn’t like was Korra air bending. If she gets her bending taken away, I wanted either all of it gone or none of it.
I did like how Yakone, Tarrlok, and Amon tie together nicely for this season. Conclusion was great and sad for them.
I thought for sure Tenzin and family would have escaped but what a twist. Bending this finale was what it should have been in the entire season. And man I got a good chuckle out of Asami shocking her dad a 2nd time this season. I presume Sato’s going to jail so that makes her Future Industries CEO?
I’m curious what they have planned for next season. It looks likes Korra’s going in as a fully realized avatar.[/details]
Without spoiling the finale, I’ll say I preferred all of the TLA finales more than this one. This series had its good and bad but I think the less episodes per season hurt it slightly.
Really?? I just feel something like Korra getting her bending taking would take alot more in order for it to really mean something. Though I’m seeing how this season led up to what happened. The entire season Korra was terrified of Amon; the thought of losing her bending always took control of her. It finally hit the climax and her fear of having her bending taken away came true. She was at her lowest point, needed guidance and Aang finally came (the way they made it seem he was always trying to come to her but in her current state before he could only send her visions). You could say the point of it all wasn’t really the destination (her bending ultimately being taken away) as that was her fate and wasn’t going to change, but the journey to her being able to face her fear of it all. Maybe us making a fuss over her having her bending taken away isn’t warranted it might not have been all that important to what they’re trying to get across.
Also I know this kills the beauty of this scene but I had to post it:
in a way I’m glad that everything was tied up neatly in that the year long wait won’t be such a pain. That being said I expect Hiroshi to be a major player next season and maybe the Lieutenant assuming he is still alive. [/details]
[spoiler=]The point when Aang showed up to give her guidance came across as too easy for me. Korra’s discovering hrt spiritually side how have been a journey in itself. What’s done is done. I would have liked it more if the resolution didn’t come so soon.[/details]
I kind of wanted Tarlock to get his bending back somehow and team with Nartuck in the end. It would of been cool to see what two overpowered blood benders could do
