Avatar: The Legend of Korra - Book 4

I’m gonna go with “someone who used to be able to bloodbend knows how to resist it”.

True, I suppose I just meant this show is bringing out unusual reactions from the fans ha. Although for the record I’d wreck fong brutally but I’d worry her body would be to old to sustain the pounding I have planned.

Anyhow my personal theory on amon is very out there but maybe he’s the son of zuko…he could have grown up hearing the terrors his grand father inflicted on the world and developed a warped view on benders as a result.

I have a feeling Bei Fong would stomp your shit into the ground good sir.

Episode 9 of this was probably one of my favorite episodes of any show, ever. So much good content it’s still weird to think that all this happened in one episode.

Spoiler

Loved seeing the older team Aang. They need to do more episodes for them. It’s so interesting seeing them interact. I’d love to see an older version of all the old main characters just because they seem to do such a good job of keeping their charm even when they’re older. The “twinkletoes” scene brought a smile to my face, but that Aang getting bloodbent scene make me cringe…Holy crap, this is a kids show?

Yeah it looked like he was screwing his head off.

I was surprised to see Tarrlok’s chicanery was discovery so quickly. This story is moving at a breakneck pace.

I’m glad Yakone was the sole bloodbender and could actually bloodbend and entire courtroom of people with no gesticulations. BOSS!

I don’t think it was him just being “top tier”, it seemed like he was altering his own phsyiology/biology in some way to adapt to the technique, this explains why he was struggling against it initially. I think Amon has discovered a way to harness his inner *chi *or something to that effect, a man who has surpassed normal spiritual restraints. Amon to me seems like an Avatar’s husk, some primeval remnant of what a non-elemental Avatar would look like.

Lin’s abilities are too fucking cool. To master Toph’s sonar like that while not suffering the loss of sight is awesome, and her bending skills are tizzite!

(I’m going to ignore that use of “tizzite” for my own already waning sanity.)

Geez this thread moved faster in the past day considering I haven’t been in about 23 hours and there’s a two week gap before the season finale.

Sure, go for broke. It’s not like I don’t “steal” things from people all the time. As long as it’s not outright plagiarism (and perhaps even in a very small set of instances when it is), pretty much nothing is original anymore (if it’s ever even really been), so take good ideas where you can get them.

It’s why I generally don’t say crap to anyone else about what I’m doing “project”-wise outside of one main exception: if it gets “stolen”, then for most part it’s my own fault.

Thanks for the heads up, though.

Despite it being too ambiguous to tell given what little we learned of it and Yakone in general, I was under the same impression as Darkstalker in that he was purposely not using his bloodbending when it was full moon so as to make his crimes seem “impossible” rather than he couldn’t.

It’s possible he couldn’t, but right now it’s impossible to know.

Yakone being Amon would be…interesting, especially since it’s still possible he could be alive, if imprisoned. It would make Tarrlok hating Amon kinda hilarious since Tarrlok obviously has no idea who Amon is.

Still, it seems rather unlikely since it seems it would have at least been mentioned in passing that Yakone had broken out of jail, even if it was by Tarrlok gloating before he got prepared to move Korra again. Also, it would mean that Yakone is excellent at masking his voice, pun not intended.

Lololol. No.

Someone is blissfully unaware of the fandoms of shows like Supernatural and Heroes.

Three words: Popular brotherly incest.

I’m not sure if YJ’s shipping “craziness” even breaks the Top 1000 for “fucked-up” fandoms, especially since there’s a surprising amount of hetero or bisexual there with people not rabidly hating Artemis and Wally’s relationship just because they don’t have same genitalia; Conner and M’gann, even before she became M’gann the Mind Taker, not so welcomed. [/knows way too much about this shit for someone who generally dislikes it]

Word.

It’s not a “kids show”, at least, not really. It can be watched by kids because it doesn’t have cursing or much blood or overtly sexual situations/references, but it’s more an all-ages show that happens to be watched by quite a few kids, partly because it’s marketed to them due to the stigma that cartoons still have in America.

You say that like it’s a bad thing

my theory since amon’s energybending intro is that korra will lose her bending to amon at the end of the first season, with amon taking republic city over and achieving his goals accordingly.

because energy bending/the avatar state is resolved through spiritual willpower, i think the second season will be tailored towards korra going through with her spiritual side and thus attaining her bending back by doing so (somehow).

zuko/someone in contact with zuko will be revealed in 2 episodes, so maybe he starts her on that journey?

No negative canotation at all, Bei Fong can kick my ass any day. I welcome it.

I wish Tarrlok wasn’t trumped so easily.

Prediction: Amon has something to do with Koh the Face Stealer.

After seeing Amon taking stances similar to a bloodbender as well as the brief depictions of characters struggling to move Amon might indeed be a bloodbender +/- “other” abilities.

It would be cool to have Spacebending, warping reality and shit. WHOOOOO!

Bump that. He’d probably be like “You can’t touch me” like Tobi from Naruto.

Koh being involved with Amon has been my theory since episode 3 aired. He ain’t wearing no mask to hide burn scars.

oh believe you me, KORRA will go avatar state before Amon can take her bending away(whether she can consciously do it or not). Then she’ll be untouchable like any avatar in avatar state before her, go on a rampage and probably beat(if not accidentally kill amon).

I don’t get what you’re saying since I don’t read/watch/glance at naruto.

Unless you mean that the scenes were showing his Hokuto pressure point raping skills and the characters were simply writhing in immobilizing pain?

Tobi has this space manipulating ability that allows him to become intangible and he can send people into a pocket dimension.

if were a betting man, i’d say she won’t go avatar state (or alternatively, she will, but will still have her bending taken away).

EDIT: if she does go ahead and beat/kill amon, where does the 2nd season go? is it without an antagonist? you can bet that the ferocity of amon won’t be quelled in a single season like tarlok was in an episode.

my response would be “what proof do you have that seeing memories is something that only the avatar can do?” who says aang/amon isn’t using his spirit form to communicate with her?

and i don’t think the idea would suck necessarily. if aang came to the understanding that bending was evolving, that would mean bending could achieve heights no one had thought of before. and the stronger people got, the more of a risk they were to society. so, he leaves never to be heard of and assumed dead… taking up another persona and formulating a plan that would not only prevent these benders from getting out of control, but would truly create peace in his eyes (the whole reason why he created republic city).

amons mask on aangs statue? the story about how firebenders destroyed his family? ability to to hang with benders so handily? understanding how to block chi (happened to aang)?

and then think of korra. all the hints dropped. never had avatar state. never went through the same placement tests that aang did. she just came out bending 3 things and everyone just accepted it. but other than being able to bend 3 elements, she has nothing avatar associated with her (though, i guess that really is only avatar state and ability to see other avatars)

i mean, its as good of a theory as any, and i think its more compelling. imagine in season 2, korra isn’t the avatar, but in order to beat the previous avatar, she really does need to evolve and learn how to bend air to become the avatar in spirit. the ultimate fight is between 2 benders that can fully control both elements? tell me you wouldn’t want to see that?

It would totally take away the one unique trait about the Avatar, the ability to bend multiple elements.

My random fanfic-ish idea long ago was that there were identical twins who both were Avatars, one with Air and Water, the other with Fire and Earth.
