Avatar: The Legend of Korra - Book 4

I know. The post was made more for humor and to garner random likes. and all that.

NEW EP THIS WEEKEND?
???

Yeah im pretty sure there is a new episode this weekend.

(Forgot that getting quoted still counts as blocking other things if you don’t check or get quoted again.)

Yes, it seems the next episode coming up is “When Extremes Meet”, which I’m pretty sure is a new episode.

waits to get bitched at for trying to be helpful again

Oh, I’m not saying Mad Men and Breaking Bad aren’t good or even aren’t “really really good”. I’m saying that a) I’m not interested in them despite knowing that, at least at present, and b) that’s it’s unfair to compare animation to live action in most instances. Hell, those two aren’t even remotely the same genre as most (American) cartoons to begin with, which is part of what I was getting at when I said it’s unfair since cartoons still have a stigma in America: if they’re not comedic cartoons, then they’re automatically still considered to be for “kids”.

I mean, I guess I can see what you’re getting at with Korra’s (and Avatar’s) G rating, but they’re still more adult than most other “kid” cartoons, even if you’re arguing that those “kids” are teenagers or whatever.

Also, quite a few people feel that Akira was atrocious, at least when it came to actually representing Akira the manga and/or having a really coherent story as a stand-alone. Not necessarily “bad” overall per se, but something that didn’t represent the manga at all. Regardless of how one feels about it, it’s probably a bad example, especially when there’s stuff like Princess Mononoke or Grave of the Fireflies that has less comparative baggage but is still great.

Please elaborate.

omgomgomgomgomgomg i really liked this episode

HOOOOOOOOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIT.

When I saw the credits I was like “why do you have to go off now”.

Welcome to the Red Scare, ladies and gentlemen.

So. Can we agree that Tarloc is a fag?

I think the other councilmen need to be fleshed out a bit. It’s odd to me that they always agree with Tarloc.

Spoiler

I wonder if anyone else can bloodbend in this series. Lightning and metal bending are common now, but bloodbending seems more taboo.

Spoiler

so i guess the man in the past was tarlok then and not amon? i still wanna jump on the tarlok=amon train. i still think he’s a lacky like asami dad was. short fight scene was also good. i hear next episode they’re gonna explain the flashback korra been having. meaning we might see aang…im already in fanboy mode.

Me watching this episode.

Yea he pretty much made me completely hate him in one episode.

Spoiler

The ending flashback seemed like Aang was being controlled (like blood bending) briefly, and him trying to fight it. It also showed old(er) Sokka!! Also, isn’t the car made of metal? Couldn’t Korra just bend out of it? I feel like I’m missing something there. Oh, and Tarlok looks badass with his hair messed up.

car coulda been made out of platinum. and you know in the avatar world platinum= non bendable.

(Haha at Tenzin’s children in this episode. “Yes. Yes. No. No. And 10,552.”)

Oh…shit. I had the same reaction as the reveal that the episode was ending while Tarrlok was talking.

So…

[details=Spoiler]It seems unlikely that he’s actually Amon himself and he in fact seemed possibly genuinely pissed that Korra even implied that he was like Amon. So he could possibly just be an asshole putting himself in position of power and using Amon as an excuse since everyone on the council who isn’t Tenzin seems to be manipulated by him rather easily.

I guess that makes it appropriate that he can apparently bloodbend at will. The fuck. He is incredibly dangerous then.

I’m guessing he’s Hama’s descendant or something. He seems to be at the very least the descendant of the villainous guy in the flashbacks.[/details]

I thought Zuzu was supposed to show up in episode eight as someone spoiled earlier?

Which one? The 1920s Red Scare? Or the 1950s Red Scare?

Regardless, it’s rather sad how it’s applicable to at least three points in American history after the 1900s, including present-day; Tenzin’s due process line made me think about the obvious terrorist aspects of the Equalists and how we’re kinda, you know, doing the same to pretty much all the people in Guantanamo.

Also,

[details=Spoiler]Dat Jealousy!

^I can’t believe the kind of morals this series is proposing. “It’s ok to be a homewrecker if it’s for true love!”

A douchebag, yes. A fag? I dunno. He woulda been gushing at Mako at first sight if this were true .

we all know he only acting this why is because tezin couldn’t accept his undying love for him just as tezin didn’t accept bei fongs:rolleyes:

(Not sure why we’re speculating about Tarrlok’s sexuality when it doesn’t change the fact he’s an incredible asshole.)

Oh, hey. I forgot to mention something considering I’ve kept pointing it out: the generic cops can Earthbend. Good to finally have proof of that.

Also, I don’t think Korra can metalbend at all since it was asked about earlier. She has shown that she can use lightning, so I doubt she can use any of the secondary abilities at present aside from icebending–arguably not really a secondary–and maybe bloodbending; Katara probably forbid her from using it, though.

…I’m not sure where you’re getting that from. Maybe if they get together later and depending on the circumstances, but I think Asami was more giving that look because she was suddenly suspicious about Korra and Mako’s interaction given she didn’t see what Ikki’s big mouth pointed out earlier.

WHAT. THE. FUCK. JUST. HAPPENED?!?!

Seriously, one episode just accelerated the plot a LOT faster than my expectations.
While we’re on the subject of bloodbending, remember Hama stumbled upon it after being mindbroken into insanity by her experiences in a Fire Nation prison built for waterbenders.(Ya know, a lot of the things she taught Katara were basically never noted again, like pulling water from the air or plants.) I feel that basically, if you can bend a element(i.e. water), you can use the subskills tied to it(i.e. bloodbending), and if you spent enough time training, you’ll be OP as fuck. Remember, Tarrlock shooting ice at Korra was problematic until she got the upper hand. And I agree wholeheartedly with xlxlxl, the other councilmembers just go along with whatever Tarrlock wants, albiet that might be because of his bloodbending(can bloodbending affect mentality?). Tarrlock=Amon is dumb, Tarrlock using him to gain power makes perfect sense. Anyone else worried about Tenzin? :frowning: I don’t find his situation pleasant.
sighI fail at spoiler tags.
