Avatar: The Legend of Korra - Book 4

Oh right. It just lengthens time inside the damn thing. Always remembering it being the other way around. Guess that is what that stupid blue thing from Dr. Who is for.

It’s called a TARDIS.

why is it in bold but
i dont watch tv at all i watch Korra through twitch TV.

Nick aired the preview to last week’s episode several times and even put it online before the actual episode.
Why did you even reply.

thinking about this no new episode… If i remember correctly they take LONG ASS BREAKS mid season for some reason.
Probably no new episode for a while since we were on episode 6 or 7.

I wouldn’t take the Avatar wikia too seriously. Or any wikia. Or TVTropes for that matter.

Don’t be fucking stupid. Thanks.

its true. what channel is the show on? what do you think the target demographic is? the biggest limitations that and bender has is that it needs to be entertaining to preteens. as an adult viewer, you are lucky that you get a semi relevant story and even subpar explanations of made up magic.

i’m going to watch the raid tomorrow, and i’m not expecting an acting breakthrough or realistic fights, i understand what the movie is going to try to accomplish and there’s no reason to look anymore into it if there’s plot inconsistencies or a few unrealistic scenarios.

in the end, we’re all just watching a kids cartoon. its fun to talk what ifs or possibilities, but when you start holding it against the people who make the children’s cartoon as plotholes and poor writing, you really do sound like someone who doesn’t understand what he’s REALLY watching.

In order:

Irrelevant, teens to adults, wrong, wrong, idiocy, who the fuck cares, irrelevant, analysis is never harmful, see ā€œteens to adultsā€ earlier, that’s the whole fucking point jackass, idiocy, idiocy, and idiocy.

Water benders are op cuz they can just make specs ā€œchillā€

hurr burrgurrtkgok

That is absolutely not what happened. The mech, whose cockpit Lin was hacking away at, was out of the fight when she was done with it. After the metal benders get electrocuted we see her standing on the mech with it’s cockpit windows all smashed. She is grabbed and thrown by another mech entirely.

So there is a fight in the sky and spider woman and korra go up and try to duke it out but Tenzin just decides to sit around and watch them?

IN THE AIR.

WHEN HE IS AN AIR BENDER.

**(╯°▔°)╯︵ ┻━┻ **

Bruv, it’s okay, the next episode the police forget they can bend the earth. Why didn’t they just topple the mechs? WHO KNOWS.

Oh but VS THEY COULDN’T BEND THE EARTH BECAUSE IT WAS PLATINUM.

NO, NO IT WASN’T. TOPH JR EARTHBENT TO DO HER EDWARD ELRIC COMBOS.

**(╯°▔°)╯︵ ┻━┻ **

Still don’t know why Korra can’t take water from the air, especially when Katara was her waterbending master.

Most of the benders in the korra series are civilians. The metalbender cops probably only had to deal with tacky tack misdemeanor bullshit before, and now they have to deal with fucking terrorists. In the og series a world war had been going on for a century, ofc niggas was hard. And aang got his shut push in ALOT in the beginning of his series, and having the mc go ham on every mook every episode kind of kills the suspense.

Felt this was relevant to share. Saw it on the main page.

Your excuses for things the writers could easily fix with a one sentence statement are pretty funny. Even then, the benders who are doing stupid stuff are all students of masters.

The three benders in question who are getting beat up are…

  1. The Avatar who was trained by basically the best water bender ever and two other heads of their respective fields. Her whole character is all about how hard headed and wall chargingly strong she is.

  2. The daughter of the most hardcore earth bender who was a prodigy as a pre teen. (Who also is the head of training the dumb ass we forget we can bend earth earth benders)

  3. The son of the last avatar/airbending prodigy who is currently the leader of the air temple.

Their resumes proceed them, they are just stupid.

Completely unrelated to bending dumbness, the animation when she froze the water before she did a hydro man up to Amon was really great.

(Stupid nap.)

So VS, deciding to be a Devil’s advocate for this thread as well?

…What took you so long?

Speaking of which…

Congratulations! You corrected my egregious error–well, I’m not really sure if it’s fair to call it egregious if no one else caught it in all that time. Shows you’re actually paying attention. Too bad it still doesn’t answer your question.

Shrug.

I honestly doubt they’re going to answer this directly any time soon, if ever, especially since the person, despite being Robin-Lite, was just a mook ultimately. She either disabled the mech or disabled him/her or killed the pilot outright. Hard to tell. Decide for yourself given the show’s not going to answer you and it’s not like people haven’t died in this series before between flashbacks, Jet and Sparky Sparky Boom Man.

Hunh. Interesting. Two things that stand out:

  1. ā€œLike a bossā€ is still a (stupid) popular saying?

  2. Actual Asians cosplaying Avatar characters instead of that field being exclusively dominated by white people, as shown by the most egregious example of cosplay a.k.a. The Last Airbender movie? What madness is this?!

Oh I was making everyone pissed at me for saying the main villain is too strong and makes the series boring since like the third episode.

I’m just starting to get tired of arguing about kids shows that aren’t good simply because they are for kids. I’ve just quit the One Piece thread cold turkey because it amazes me that people get surprised by the shonen storylines that happen.

I was basically taking a break from the Avatar too but I was like ā€œFuck it, might as well watch the two new episodesā€

It’s kind of depressing the Mad Men thread doesn’t have like 30000 posts seeing how they are dominating television fiction, but whatever, this is a site for people who play video games with magic monsters and robots and shit so it kind of comes with the territory?

So yeah, TLDR, VS complaining about the childrens show not being amazing. Wakka flakka flame.

  1. I hear it, but only really on xbox live.

  2. That movie was so bad. I think that is the first time I was mad leaving a movie theater.

(Ah, XBox Live is unfortunately probably an accurate barometer of what’s still popular with at least a sizable portion of ā€œthe youthā€.)

Oh, yeah, I’ve heard how horrible that movie is. That’s why I brought it up when I usually deny that it even exists. I don’t fault the ā€œwhite kidsā€ that were in the movie for white-washing it, though. That’s totally that hack M. Night’s fault.

That’s seriously the first time you walked out mad after a movie, though? I’ve walked out of movies mad way too often, which is why I just eventually stopped going to movie theaters. Of course, it was more because people were talkative assholes who can’t shut the fuck up for an hour and a half or two than it was because of bad movies; I unfortunately have seen quite a few of those that were bad enough to annoy me after it ended, though, like 28 Days Weeks (for free), the second Matrix, X-3 and a couple of other things.

I’m totally derailing the thread, though.

Maybe. I don’t think that many (black) people watch Mad Men to begin with.

I don’t/haven’t because a)I don’t really watch that much TV as it is, at least/especially when it comes to series, and b) I don’t really have any interest it given the setting from what I’ve heard about it. Then again, I don’t think I’ve really watched AMC in a while–and it’s not like everyone gets that channel to begin with–between having not followed Walking Dead’s second season or Breaking Bad at all, so it’s been easy for me to ā€œavoidā€.

You can’t really compare cartoons versus live action anyway, though, especially when the former gets a lot of flack even when it’s good, as with what you’re doing now. Korra’s hardly flawless–nothing is–and I’m not sure that anyone’s said, even if people are making excuses, whether they’re valid or not.

Please, continue though. Not like you need my permission anyway.

Watch Mad Men and Breaking Bad, both are really really good. Mad Men’s current season is setting new standards for modern dramatic television. It’s not really fair to compare it to an add on to a show meant for young adults/kids, whats like the highest cartoon art form? Akira was really good, but I really don’t think you could even compare that to the quality of Mad Men right now. It’s basically an Apple/Orange thing because you’d have to go with a multiple episode season thing. I guess you could go with the first season of Batman TAS where they just went nuts with the animation quality and storytelling/voice acting.

Maybe Cowboy Bebop too, I really really enjoyed Cowboy Bebop, but even then it’s not like the ā€œJesus Christ, all of these episodes are greatā€ thing Mad Men has going on this season.

I’ve only really walked out of one movie and that was Wanted. That movie was really dumb.

It’s just depressing because it would be really neat to see a really well done animated series without dumb stuff like the characters forgetting they can do what the whole series is about.

Fuck Mad Men, it doesn’t compare to Children of Men. Fucktits dynamite got that fuckin’ future gritty action with so much symbolism fools gotta be watchin’ that shit TWICE son to get it all, Theo badass but believably vulnerable all up in this shit.

Makin’ babies like a full time thing in Bad Future B, all about that Children of Men all up in here. Like future pre-Ragnarok Britain with all them fuckin’ suicide commercials an’ shit, British military stops fuckin’ fightin’ because there’s a fuckin’ baby! Then they all go back to war 'cuz mankind, man, that’s the biggest damn downer
WHY ARE YOU COMPARING LEGEND OF KORRA TO MAD MEN

I just mean quality wise. And I’m not really comparing them as much as I’m sad that tons of people will debate whether Spikey Haired captain has a bankai but no one wants to talk about the big boy show that is amazing.

Children of Men was a really good movie that was kind of completely forgotten though. Oh Clive Owen trying to save the world with a baby.
