Cabbage Corp is an industrial company. The guy probably got his start on capital inherited from the Cabbage Merchant and named the company in his honor.
Earthbenders can’t actually bend metal; they can bend the impurities in the metal, the little bits of earth within it. As such anything with absolutely no earth within it cannot be bent.
In other news I am beginning to be convinced that all these murders were committed by the same firebender. Because quite frankly it seems silly that the writers would have everyone and their dog have an atrocity committed against them by a firebender if the events are not somehow connected.
I think a good water bender should be able to handle the mechs. Those windows are a huge weakness. One could just break the glass with ice, flood the inside, and just for good measure, freeze the pilot inside.
I’d like to see more of unique abilities like sand bending and more element combining from Korra. Earth+Fire+Water=Lava Bending. Air+Sand+Water=Erosion. Heck even some simple stuff like Air+Fire for more explosive flames would be nice.
(I’m still kinda wondering what Airbending’s “secondary” is. Kinda want it to be confirmed that to be confirmed one way or the other before Legend of Korra is over.)
Thanks for fielding/answering the question about why the pure platinum (obviously) couldn’t bent, po pimpus and Arachnofiend. I don’t think I would have been able to answer him without being scathingly sarcastic about given his other posts.
I’m pretty sure it does, though I’m going off of “it’s metal” rather than “it’s platinum”, so I’m hardly sure. It doesn’t help that the Wikipedia page for platinum doesn’t say anything, at least in terms that I understand, about that subject.
Regardless, given that those mechs seemed to be outfitted with tazers, they’re maybe insulated from electrical charges, especially since Lightningbenders are some of Amon’s targets as seen with Lightning Bolt Zolt. It doesn’t really help that Mako (or Bolin) wisely didn’t attack them directly and that Korra probably can’t Lightningbend at all presently.
I’d imagine it wouldn’t take too much fire to melt Platinum considering it sits next to gold, silver, and copper some of the softest, easiest metals to melt. An earth bender should be able to punch through those mechs pretty easily. Patinum has a lot of ductile strength but it’s still not steel or iron. Making them out of something that can’t be bent is a good idea but it’s hardly a durable metal. I’d also bet Platinum is just as good a conductor as copper and gold, all noble metals tend to be.
[details=Spoiler]I’m beginning to think the same thing. Although if this is all by the same fire bender then it brings up one interesting question, why did he murder the people he did. So far the victims show no connection to each other except for the fact that they were murder by a fire bender.
Now if there were to be a connection I would assume Bolin and Mako’s parents have a direct relationship with the killer. Either family, close friend, or something along those lines, I feel like they have to have been close or why else would the parents have been murdered and the kids spared. This also make’s me believe that the robbery that Mako mentioned was true, but what was taken was something that he did not know the value of. Its easy to see how Asami’s father could have been manipulated if he had a reason to hate benders but so far if we are to assume that petty robbery was a simple as that then the deaths have nothing in common.
Now if Sato is actually being manipulated, does this mean that Amon could actually be a fire bender? If I remember correctly Amon has yellow eyes which is usually a trademark belonging to fire benders. My theory is that i cant believe his story about a fire bender killing his parents if both Mako and Sato’s killers are the same. instead I want to believe that he has some ties to the man in Korra’s flashback or they are the same person (assuming no new details are given about this) . Now if he is the same man in the flash back i would have as sumed Aang dealt with him the same way he dealt with fire lord Ozai. But if they are the same person then that means he has been hiding his fire bending abilities.
Please let me know if I’m overlooking anything.[/details]
If you’ve read The Promise comics which bridge Aang’s series with Korra’s, you see Zuko starting to go crazy and seeking counsel from his father. As Ozai was the only person to lose his bending, he’d have the greatest understanding of how it happened (besides Aang of course). There’s something in the lineage of that latter dynamic between the Fire Lords which is connected to this, I think. Wouldn’t surprise me if Amon is 3rd generation from Ozai somehow.
Speaking of ancestors and lineages, I’m still very curious about Zuko’s mother. That is going to be a big deal. Also curious about Asami’s mother. These are very important issues. Lastly, from the beginning of this series I felt Mako was related to Zuko. Maybe that’s a bit of a stretch. But him and Bolin being brothers and benders of a a different element implies cross-breeding and recessiveness of genes among benders. That is some crazy shit.
As for Amon’s identity, I think the biggest clue is his fighting style. The creators are very consistent with their martial arts, so his style should reveal a lot. Same with Asami’s fighting style.
And I’m going to also call Korra being able to restore bending.
Fuck I love this show, the last show, and everything about them.
Ugh… I miss Aang. And Sokka. And Suki. And Toph. And many more. More than I miss pretty much any real people in my life. I’m a sick bastard.[/details]
Azula if she was “magically there” would be running circles on everyone that’s shown up thus far in The Legend of Korra. If she hadn’t gone mentally insane and would’ve lasted into her prime age, she would’ve outclassed her father. My goodness do I miss Azula, she by far my favorite female character in the the original series and the most beautiful imo.
Btw, it seems before Team Korra flew off to safety they forgot to pick up the tied down Metal Bender police officer called Sung whom was watching over Mako, Bolin, and Asami. What a way to go, lmao!!!
I really cannot wait for episode 7, because waiting an entire week for one episode is just way too agonizing. It’s like watching the X-Men cartoon in the early 90’s, when you finally get to that Saturday, watch it and then it ends with “To be Continued…” and your like….
I’m really hoping that Asami becomes a permanent character of Team Korra, because it would be nice to have a non-bender whose a female, yet elegant, extremely beautiful and can kick ass all at the same time, maybe possibly give her the chain whips the officers use or one of them lightning rod swords, or both. The original series lacked a central protagonist non-bender female character who did that (Suki was there, but she wasn’t part of the central main group though).
All I can say again is that the Avatar series is imo the best cartoon of this generation, I mean, being someone whom was a kid in the 80’s, the Macross Series was the cartoon of that era imo, while in the 90’s it was the Batman series for me, and now we have Avatar. It’s great to see that out of all the cartoon garbage out there, there is a diamond in the rough every generation.
I personally think she maxed out at that point. In all her fights with ang and his crew it was always in situations that were stacked in her favor, either because of big numbers or some circumstance that gave her a a slight edge. In the only"1 on 1"she had with her brother she got worked over pretty bad…so personally I dont think she would have ever got to her dad’s level.
I don’t see how the battle at Tu Zen was ever in her advantage (yeah Aang and co. were tired, but Azula was still outnumbered, and was trailing them the entire time w/o any proper sleep as well), considering Aang and Zuko mainly targeted her, not to mention everyone else joined in to take her down afterwards, and she still escaped. Even when she couldn’t use her firebending due to the solar eclipse she was able to avoid Sokka, Toph and Aang. Not to mention her capability to use that spinning fire shield to defend against 4 elemental attacks all at once. The girl just firebends with two fingers instead of the typical fist attacks.
When you considered she was only 14 yrs old (had already learned to utilize Lightning at that age during that time in which Iroh and Ozai were the only two to be capable of doing so and they were twice her age), so the idea that 10+ or more years added to her to improve and hone her capabilities to surpass her father would’ve been very real.
Nah son, Azula was that chick. She was not to be played with. She was cold, cunning, and skilled out the ass. Since her first appearance, she regularly schooled everyone in her path. This kid was making grown ass men look free. Too beast.
Azula was a prodigy, and was giving Zuko a hard time even while going crazy. Don’t shortchange her.
I still haven’t even picked up book one of The Promise but I’m hoping we get more on Azula in that series. I think if she has any chance at redemption it’s going to be through Ty Lee; Ty Lee was the only person that seemed to really consider Azula her friend (Mai respected and tolerated her until she had to choose between her and Zuko) and would want to see Azula not be a miserable wretch for the rest of her life.
As is the case with semi-unstoppable evil, you will never beat that ass…you have to stress them until they go critical and meltdown. Woulda been some shit if Azula leveled up during the fight and started bending WHITE fire or plasma (too unfocused mentally to pull off combustion man shenanigans).
I think Tarlock would be more interesting if he wasn’t associated with Amon and was simply using the events Amon creates as a power grab opportunity within the Republic.
