Avatar: The Legend of Korra - Book 4

(Haha. Amon as Batman totally fits.)

Damn it, I have to catch on this thread due to being away for a while and then not having checked it out the few times I’ve been back since the show’s actually started, but seeing Lin and Korra get to actually land a few solid blows to Amon’s forces last episode was well worth it. Accidentally seeing spoilers, which is why I was avoiding this thread, is not though…

Oh, before I forget again, I have to ask: Despite the fact that police are visually obviously supposed to be based on samurai, am I the only who keeps thinking they all look like Luigi due to the coloration of their outfits? (It would help explain why they’ve been so ineffectual, getting shocked through metal aside.)

Speaking of Cabbage Guy, I didn’t catch it until I watched the last episode a second time, but at the beginning, the radio message before Amon’s broadcast was sponsored by a “Cabbage Corp”. So presumably he was able to make something of himself after all the times Aang and co. accidentally wrecked his shit.

Oh fuck. Someone is totally in my head.

Quick! To the Tinhatmobile!

Perhaps because they’re connected to it and thus “touching it” through their armor. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was designed specifically so they didn’t have to do stances, especially since they’re supposed to swinging around. Bendering as a whole seemed a lot more forgiving as long as you were physically touching whatever it was you were trying to bend.

It could also be because these peace-time benders seem more specialized than those in the war did. Have we seen any of the cops, including Lin herself, even use “regular” Earth-bending? The only bender I can think of that’s used a primary and a secondary at this point is Mako and he’s only used the secondary for his job.

Yeah, that’s what I’m expecting too, even if I don’t want to make guesses about Amon for…various reasons. I’m kinda hoping we see more “sympathetic” people on Amon’s side. It will be rather interesting if the first Airbender we see that isn’t related to Aang is part of Amon’s merry gang of Rockin’ Robins.

I know that they should probably still be “burned” a bit, but Lin’s line looked pretty smooth and Korra stopped herself pretty quickly, so would that still apply as much? Regardless, I think she can take it after being electrocuted in freaking water just minutes beforehand. Waterbenders do have healing hands after all.

Which doesn’t make any sense and hence is the issue I have with this current plot hole. He wants to make the world equal yet he had the chance to kill the 1 person who could have stopped him and he does nothing…fight another day but with the possibility of losing?

My main point is that killing her would prove to his believers that the benders are not entitled to their status in society and perhaps people at large would begin to see them in the same light amon does. Killing korra makes sense in the larger scheme of his plans…but at any rate I guess Ill just see how the show plays out. Hopefully this plothole gets explained at some point in the future but in spite of it, the show is pretty good.

It’s not a plothole. He himself explains why it would be a bad time to finish her off right then and there. Are you paying attention?

Dude its not a plothole; you’re just seriously not paying attention to what’s going on in the show. Like REALLY not paying attention.

Watch the rest of the series and if you still don’t understand then you need to hit up the Avatar wiki or something.

I’m going to just assume you haven’t watched The Last Airbender. Which is understandable.

Killing Korra now is pointless. She will reincarnate as another Avatar and he’ll have to deal with that later down the line. The people aren’t going to be put off that much, since they know the Avatar will return.

You kill Korra in Avatar State, she can’t reincarnate. Final Solution. Kill ALL The Avatars, now and forever.

From the height she fell it the friction would still rub her hands raw. If you’ve ever rope climbed and even tried to regrab the the rope during a 2 foot fall you already can feel some serious friction burns, imagine several stories? The metal would have to be so smooth she wouldn’t have been able to grab it period.

But like I said before, it’s a tween cartoon, so…

Transformer did a worse job at real world physics than Avatar did.

It is nothing to do with being a tween cartoon, the characters are physically stronger and more durable than people in reality.

(If Execlancer isn’t trolling, then I suddenly understand how people can miss so much and thus hate them even more.)

Oh gods, let’s not starting getting into a discussion about cartoon physics, especially when there hasn’t been any egregious violations.

Ah, I figured as much. I wasn’t sure if it would end up having to be frictionless to not cause “burn”, but good to know. Thanks.

I’m morbidly curious about this. Please elaborate.

Probably explains why they never bleed… ever.

There were quite a few parts where Witwicky fell from great heights and was caught by a metal robot with hard metal parts. Also when he wore this retractable arm thingie and hooked onto a Decepticon who swung him around, the torque alone would’ve ripped his arm off.

That feel when you wont be able to watch Korra tomorrow…
[S]Oh well I’ll post link when available if someone else doesn’t just be sure to click these " - - "[/S]

You know, I find it incredibly interesting how so much of this show focuses on the current Avatar making up for the mistakes of the previous ones.

Why was there a Fire Nation Empire? Because Roku wasn’t willing to deal harshly with / was too trusting of his childhood friend. Who created the Dai Lee? Avatar Kyoshi, as part of a peace treaty. Why is there Amon? Because Aang introduced a technique to strip a bender of their power into the world.

Ten to one Korra has to figure out how to restore / awaken someone else’s bending.

Just caught up on the show and the thread. NEED MORE. Also bei fong is beast.

Cue the dated music and nasally announcer voice …

Can’t break bolders for the quarry?
Can’t filter water for the sewage plant?
Can’t channel electricity for the power plant?

Well then… Avatar Korra wants you (uncle sam look)
to do what only you can do
join the air bender tribe!!

Cabbage Corp

Spoiler

mech suits smdh. I wonder how they would react to lightning bending (I’m assuming absorbtion) and lava bending.

Awesome espiode, thought it was going to be another “troll the shippers” filler but damn I was pleasantly surprised.

Kinda suspected that Assami’s father was in cahoots with Amon. And boy was he…

FREAKING MECHS made out of pure F’KIN Platinum!!!

And they shoot out tazzer boloas!!

Korra needs to get master the Avatar State, asap!!

Just watched the last episode, pretty crazy stuff if you ask me, and I’m really liking the series now more then ever. The only thing that makes me frustrated is the fact that it takes 7 days before you get to see the next episode, so, so, so, so, so sad.

Something I read and found interesting, though hard to believe but still interesting nonetheless, and I don’t know if others put it here yet…

[details=Spoiler]Some theories are saying that Amon may be another Avatar due to the fact that Aang was “killed” during The Last Airbender which may have started the new Avatar phase, but Amon was then relinquished of bending due to the fact that Aang was revived by Katara, thus stopping the renewal cycle.

This meant that Amon could still tap into the spiritual side but no longer the physical aspect of bending. I’m just curious what others may think, because as crazy as it sounds, it seems to have some plausibility considering if I remember correctly Aang did die during that Lightning attack by Azula. If that’s the case then the cycle would in fact start a new at that moment.

My big gripe with this theory would be Amon’s age, because he’d have to be pretty old then, considering Aang was what? In his teens at the time, so that would make Amon around late 60+ yrs old currently considering Amon would then be like 52 or something when Aang dies but w/ the additional 17 yrs for Korra to the current events he’s gotta be at least late 60’s which feels way too old in my opinion.

Amon at least thus far looks like a man in his mid-40’s or around Tenzin’s age.[/details]

^ Not a fan of that theory. Reminds me too much of Buffy and the two slayers.

NOT MY CABBAGE CORP!!!

God damn I love this show and it’s references, great episode.
