Avatar: The Legend of Korra - Book 4

Even with the arguments presented lightning band metal bending were only done by the elite in Aang’s era, now that shit is common lol.

Ya still confused on why none of the fire benders except that one sacrifice crime boss even use lightning. Shit is fast and lethal. If your going for the win makes sense to use it over normal fire.

It’s probably hard to use effectively in combat. The only ones we’ve seen do that are Azula and Ozai.

We could probably assume Lightning Bolt Zolt was experienced in using lightning in fighting since he tried against Amon. Also you don’t get to be a leader of a triad, and have the name Lightning Bolt Zolt and not have fried some people.

Also, I’ve been looking at character ages in the Avatar wiki and if Tenzin had stayed with Lin it would have been disastrous for Airbenders. Lin and Tenzin are both 51 while Pema is only 35. Considering their oldest child is 10 all the business among them must have gone down around 11-12 years ago when Lin and Tenzin were 39-40 and Pema was 23-24. Home nay children could Lin has actually popped out at that age? Pema’s had 3 with a 4th on the way, all likely Airbenders. If Tenzin had stayed with Lin there’s likely be way fewer Airbenders in the world.

The way I saw it, the workers were only redirecting lightning, not producing it. Being able to create it is what separated Zuko from Azula.

Also since lightning bending was a high end ability and required teaching, and awareness of the ability hints that Zuko, or maybe Azula, could be responsible for lightning bending not going extinct.

That or dragons are no longer extinct and firebenders became more powerful over the years due to gaining fire breath, greater manipulation, and lightning/blue/colored fire.

You know if Korra just splashes water on her opponents she could freeze them on the spot…

Anyways the 1 thing I don’t understand is amon not killing Korra when he had her captured. From a story perspective his life and plans would run smoother if she were gone, and given his intentions to kill her in recent episodes it doesn’t really make sense.

According to the little bubbles that pop up on screen when watching TLA on nicktoons, the only the firebender who can manipulate blue fire is the one that makes the hottest fire.

Amon is not THAT dude yet. He’s only made moves in Republic City; he hasn’t even touched the outside world.

If he kills Korra she becomes a matyr, the entire bending world rises up and its GGPO for the nigga Amon.

He ain’t ready for that.

Not to mention, she can’t reach the Avatar state yet, so she will just reincarnate and 15 to 20 years down the line, if he/she gets picked up by the White Lotus early in life again, the new avatar will just turn up again, this time raised to wreck his shit.

You make it sound like all the non-benders outside of republic city are standing by idly. Since the knowledge of bending away people’s bending is spreading along with Tai Lee’s martial art of stopping people’s bending along with using electricity to stun benders it’s not as lopsided as it was 75 years back.

Actually he wants to eliminate the Avatar in a more permanent way, and with the peoples support. Seeing how Korra can’t get her glow on, and pro bending has non bending fans, he has neither requirement to keep Korra from matyrdom or a rising Avatar Renaissance when Amon is too old to stop it.

Now taking her bending away just seals the avatar for another day, but killing her in her avatar state… seems more of Amon’s final solution. If it’s a battle of wills, he’s already sowed the seeds of fear in her. He might be trying to take the avatar’s bending away while korra is in the avatar state.

Too easy

I could understand those perspectives but couldn’t het just look out for the avatar when he gets born and maybe even raise the avatar to fight along his side?

If his solution is world equality then killing her now would give him 10+ years to indoctrinate the world to his belief system. By the time the avatar is found he could be killed on spot or put Into amons services. Letting her go is against his entire plot and basically just seals his own doom.

Maybe he’s going to pull an Azula and take her bending while she’s in the avatar state

1st i’ll say this… Amon is batman. he hates guns and figured out if he can take the avatar’s gun then no one else will have guns. without guns all are equal.
now replace guns with bending…

  1. Amon hates the abilities benders have as it is unequal to non benders.
  2. Amon is removing the bending abilities of criminal benders and now celebrity benders; making a spectacle of it while leaving them alive.
  3. Amon claims to have a link to the spirit world; a trait usually granted the avatar.
  4. Amon wants to replace/eliminate the avatar’s role (of peacekeeper between nations) with himself.

:wtf:

why would Amon want the murder of a non-awakened avatar on his hands along with the social/political fallout?
why would Amon want any bender working for him given his professed ideals?
why would Amon want to kill another non-awakened avatar +10 later when he can permanently remove the avatar line with an awakened Korra?
why not kill 3yr old Korra if he could find the avatar faster than the white lotus could?

If Amon wants to destroy what the avatar represents, he needs a fully realized avatar to do it. He’s just prepping Korra for her fall in her avatar state.

There’s alot of assumptions to be made. Are we making the assumption that he’s shipping out stun gauntlets? There would have to be somebody that knows about them that he’s communicating with. We don’t know if Amon has any sort of generals outside of Republic City. There’s also the fact that not ALL non-benders hate benders. That splinters his potential pool even more.

Even if he has help outside of Republic City, you not gon tell me he has a following the size of the Fire Nation to go against the world if he were to kill Korra.

You’re talking as if he were to kill her now there wouldn’t be any sort of repercussions. There would be a manhunt for him, worldwide if he managed to slip out of Republic City.

EVERYONE looks out for the Avatar when they’re born. Whoever they’re protector isn’t gonna hand the Avatar over to anyone else but the White Lotus. You make it sound WAY too easy.

It is too easy though…he had her captured and sneaked his cult into a public event guarded by the cities best police. He could slip out of town and revolt in secret and stir up a counter-culture revolution that would split the world in the half. Killing Korra would just make his believers even more faithful.

So he kills her without anyone knowing and somehow slips out of the city also without anyone knowing.

No, it really is NOT that easy. How is killing Korra supposed to convert those non-benders who don’t have any problems with benders?

Its alot of stuff you’re just jumping over and not even considering. You’re missing the complete purpose of what he’s trying to do, STOP the Avatar reincarnation.

She has no real connection to the Avatar state; killing her now would do absolutely nothing for him.

His believers at the time when he captured her were only a handful of people. That’s nothing compared to an entire world worth of benders who would curbstomp him and his followers if he chose killed Korra then.

Leaving the Avatar unaccounted for is what lost the Fire Nation the war in the first series.
