Well, my comments still stand. I think it would have looked awesome if you had removed Chun’s blue energy from her hands, and added in your own effects. The sprite itself might have looked nicer if it was touched up with some airbrushing or shading.
Aside from that, I think the av was perfect.
Well it’s hard to say since I don’t really work with static avs all that much. Had you gone with Chun’s Pink/Red pallette it might have looked better, but then you’d probably have to move the centre red stripe to balance all the red. Also like ytwojay said, had you done something with the blue energy burst, you’d have some real hot shit going on, I didn’t even think of that.

If he had used Chun’s pink costume, he could have avoided moving the red stripe by making it and the arrow blue or green, IMO.

Here, I’ll give it a shot, but just realize I will never give them a numbered rating.
:BIG BEEF — Angel of SRK:
It’s got decent composition to it, so the space is filled out nicely, but that’s about it. The background doesn’t compliment the avatar, nor vice versa, leaving it as a pretty bland avatar. Spicing up the background somehow (throwing in ALOT more color and not having it all shift in one direction) would benefit it plenty. Try harder.
:tru3tn01: — Awww, Baby!:
I’ve actually come to really enjoy what your style has developed into, but truthfully that’s not in this avatar at all. One too many trends and tag gags upset the flow, leaving it to be a blocky piece without much to go on except the makeshift contrast you have going with black and white and blue and red.
:The Mullah — Gone with the Wind:
Not bad. Executed nicely, but it’s a bit too short for its own good. The loops works well, but with Elena being static its novelty flys by pretty quickly. Could maybe use a bit more substance to it.
:-KDX- — iFist:
Again, nicely executed, nice touch with the guitar being colored in white. It loops well, but the animation is pretty damn choppy, and unless that’s exactly how many frames are available for said animation, it would work well to be much more fluid.
:SunocO — iSuck…Ass!:
It’s funny, but it’s ugly. Could have done better than to have Hugo hop on over (though it does work) and the font choice leaves plenty to be desired.
:aLEE — F, D, DF + Boobies.:
She’s hot, Ryu’s awesome, and the background is ok, but the three of them just don’t go together at all. I know the three are hard theme to work with, but you took it for literal face value, and this was the result. What’s with that line down the middle? It makes the avatar look like a magazine ad. Try again.
:givequicheachance — Mission: Unusual:
Ok, first off, you put in waaaaaaaaay too much work into this. I mean you get plenty of props, recognition, what have you, but here on SRK, that’s here one minute and gone the next, so do what you will. That being said, the animation is excellent, but the background distracts more than it should (it stands out too much in comparison to the colorful sprites, especially with it being black and neon green and all) and as someone already mentioned, the font makes it hard to read as well. Good shit none the less.

I swear OC, I thought PsychoSquall and Eek were the fucking end all of all animation on here, but you keep out doing yourself time and time again. Seriously, the way you craft these things it’s as if you made the sprites yourself. That being said, this is another top notch piece of yours. I do have a complaint or two. The font used for the ‘computer’ and Ash / Kensou talking are a bit too close to one another, causing a slight bit of confusing. The other (nitpick) thing is Ash simply flipping to the left at the begining (again, nitpick). I’m just going to call you Juggernaught (or Juggy) from now on, cuz you’re unstoppable in my eyes man.
:Nastradamus — Rejected!:
As is the case with most of the animated avatars here, good idea, good execution. There’s no BG to speak of, but that’s fine. Oddly enough my only gripe is that you put the sprites INFRONT of the border, which in a way defeats the purpose of having that border at all. The text box can stay above the border and the sprites, but the sprites should be confined with the border, not laying ontop of it. Weird yes, but I think it would just work out better. Good work, didn’t know you could pull off animation as well.
:Bay 6 — Spooky Upskirt Maki:
Man I’ve always loved your shit, this one is just hot period. Everything just works. I love the background, the contrast between pink and black, and somehow you managed to make Maki work with it all. Easily the best amongst the pack here.

You’re on the heels of OC with your animated style, though I have to be honest and say that you manage to give it your own touch. That being said, this avatar looks fine, but the animation is a bit choppy, and because of that it feels rushed. Not much else to say on the matter.
There you go.
I do have a suggestion or two quiche, put some more work into the theme, and don’t put animated avatars with the static kind, it should be one or the other.
And I’m spent.

thx for the peeps who overlooked the “zomg i h8 teh ipod theme” attitude and actually gave my entry a real criticism…if I choose to do an animated one again, I’ll make it more fluid since that was the biggest complaint.

I wanna ask the judges to submit suggestions for the theme to me via pm. (particularly you, Chibi, who said the theme sucked this time.)
Also, Chibi’s suggestion of Animated OR still is good, but I’m gonna change it slightly. Because some people ONLY do stills, and some people ONLY do animations, (and I want as many entrants as I can get) I’m just gonna split it up. Stills and Animations will be judged separately, with a 1st prize going to the best still, and a 1st prize going to the best animation.
Artists will be able to enter 1 animation AND 1 still if they want.

EDIT: I just sent money to MrWizard, so BIG BEEF!, tru3tn01, and Bay 6, you should all notice a premium flag over your avs soon. As for you, Nastradamus, you’ll just notice your expiration date extend by 1 month.
Suggestion. You could from the top three of each category have like a “best in show” showdown. so it’ll be a final 6.
