I have been giving more thought to M.O.D.O.K. fitting into teams in Ultimate with the new characters, but I just recently began wondering whom of the new cast could work well with him. Here are a few ideas I had…
Phoenix Wright: A few people in the PW thread seem to be thinking that MODOKs barrier will help with his evidence gathering, but what about the other way around? Get 'Em Missile seems pretty nice, but I’m wondering how well Press the Witness will work with MODOK as lockdown.
Dr. Strange: My first instinct is to use his Daggers of Denak as a sort of poor man’s Dr. Doom replacement (I have no desire to play Doom in ultimate), or Bolts of Balthakk to replace Sentinel’s assist.
Nemesis: I really want to find a role for this big lug, and at NYCC I have been using his RL Slam assist as a general GTFO move, but I didn’t get a chance to see how this works with MODOK. I’m guessing this will hit high enough that it may be able to work.
For my Phoenix Wright team, I’m thinking of using Balloon Bomb in conjunction with PW’s barrier. It makes them wary of coming in from in front, and you get a full combo off of it.
Also going to do Iron Fist/MODOK. We don’t know how RR or Frank will work, so I shan’t pass judgement until we see them.
Im thinkin about learning modok in ultimate, does M.O.D.O.K, RR, Ironman sound like a solid team, i think the combination of log trap assist an unibeam assist would help modok greatly.
I really want to use Modok and Iron Man together in Ultimate, well at least for one of my teams. But I didn’t know what would be a good third member, so yeah maybe RR racoon is a good choice though maybe some more experienced players could give their opinions on teaming RR and Modok.
I really like the idea of exploring Modok as a possible teammate for my X-23 in Ultimate, but I’m not too sure who I’d round the team out with. I don’t really want to use Ammy, Doom, or Sentinel but it’s hard to find other assists that’ll work out. What do you guys think about Strange’s Daggers, Nova’s divekick, or maybe Rocket’s Log trap?
I think Strange and Modok could be a cool combination. Using Stranges lockdown assist would be great for Modok, and I think Modoks assists could be good for Strange too. The Logtrap assist looks cool but still not sure of it’s properties…I doubt it has any invincibility but you never know, could be a good get off me move.
If you have X-23/MODOK, you would want some kind of assist to cover the sky. Jam Session is the obvious choice, for Dirt Nap stuff, but Hidden Missiles could work for that too, with slightly different timing, and is one of my favorite assists for MODOK.
Looking forward to getting in the lab with module tonight… gonna try and run him at point… Nemesis in the second slot with the ground slam assist and firebrand on anchor with the swoop… xf3 luminous body yes!
I am currently trying Frank/MODOK/IronFist atm, and it seems like they have good synergy. When MODOK’s out, Shopping Cart does an awesome job at pushing enemies back, and Iron Fist’s Rising Fang covers the air really well. I think Frank has very good zoning with his whirlwind zombie throws and zombie pushes; put that with Psionic Blast and I think you cover the whole screen very nicely; as well as have a meatshield seeing as the zombies take hits themselves. Maybe it is a little disadvantageous for Iron Fist, though?
This is my first team that I have thought up of and am seriously trying. I’m pretty new to fighting games in general and would appreciate if anyone could help out with this team or enlighten me on a way of thinking for a team. I like all three characters equally but I’d be willing to part with one or two if it makes for a much better team.
right now im testing modok with doom on missles and strider on vajra, u can easily keep someone locked down between the two assists and psionic blast with a few cubes to build up psionic power when u decide to go in for big damage
PW can help modok combo into jamming bomb pretty well, especially in turnabout mode. They just work really well together. Doom is obviouslye good,though harder to combo into jamming bomb than with PW in the corner after knockdown.
Chunli kicks is hands down the BEST assist for comboing into jamming bomb that exists, almost makes the startup time seem good, pressure is obviously there.Rocket raccoon can help him combo into jamming bomb after a wallbounce in the corner like most assists in this game, but can also help him get in lik sentinel
My bnb is pretty much takes them to the corner and does 450k meterless, then otg slime into Spencer slant shot. From here I can go high or low for the kill. However I don’t really have a use for wesker besides some unblockables that are very situational. Any suggestions for the second spot?
…Did you change Wesker’s assist into Jagular dash? Jagular Dash is secretly one of the better combo extenders in the game, .it works well with MODOK’s combo. You might as well use it for that.
If you want somebody besides Wesker, Try out Nova’s use his Centurion rush assist. Spencer/Nova go together like PB&J, and MODOK benefits from both. Nova’s overhead has huge distance, can create unblockables with MODOK. The biggest reason why it’s useful for MODOK, is that Overhead assist ignores the ground bounce limit MODOK/Spencer’s combo.

Serious predicament here. i want to use modok with some combination of captain America, doom, dr strange. problem is i don’t know what combination or what colors!
captain on point because he pushes opponents to the corner easily. forces me to use modok beam as an assist. can use shied slash as an assist but i guess it is only useful in combos
doom in any slot but don’t know if ill use beam ire missiles. beam helps with maintaining pressure and cap corner launches but redundant. missiles help extend cap combos tho.
Dr strange as anchor or second. as second so i have assists to mixup or as anchor for straight meter abuse. also, i find bolts of.ballsack to.be a very good lockdown assist.

im open to suggestions tho.costume color coordination plays a big role to me
only thing i dont like are that the “blues” don’t really match. like modok has blue purple, cap has blue white, doom has white with this navy blue etc. LOL

I think that with Doctor Doom, you may want to use Hidden Missiles, as it is a better assist for MODOK (Who is more dependant on assists than Strange) and you already have the beam assist covered with Bolts.
If you really want a beam assist for Strange you could use Psionic Blaster and run Strange first, which may work better.
can u expand on why missiles are better? for me, the horizontal beam allows me freedom to air dash in. with missiles, i feel like some characters can just call out super full screen and i have no way to retailiate with modok to keep the missile assist safe. is it just a combo extension thing or does it really help lockdown opponents? i guess one thing i could do more is fly up and call doom while he’s offscreen – i hardly make use of modoks flight.
Set both P1 and P2 lifebars to NOT refill, pick Haggar, get full screen away, playabck recording (repeat), let the dummy get through one rep (block it), and then try to kill MODOK without using assists…
It sounds dumb, but a lot of people will get killed by the dummy first. It’s actually pretty funny… Try it on your friends! :lol:
