Assistance! M.O.D.O.K Assist and Assist Support Thread

I’m contemplating putting together a MODOK/Skrull/Doom villain team - any suggestoins?

notice a lot of people talking about rocks in this thread - I was thinking about going for hidden missiles on doom but I honestly don’t know what assists for MODOK or skrull - I’d just assume NOT the wallbounce skrull one because MODOK won’t need that in his combos for anything, and I suppose the barrier could set up for some shenanigans from Skrull’s command grab but I’m honestly not sure what way to go.

Thoughts?

I’ve been in the lab with a Skrull/MODOK/Sent team, and I was testing out some things with Skrull’s wallbounce assist because it sets up easy jamming bomb. Easy jamming bomb = free followup combo. With tenderizer, the hit stun deterioration screwed up everything in nearly every combo.

I think it’s always hard to pick which assist to use for MODOK. They’re all so… specialized. Really good for certain purposes, but totally ass in other ways.

Re: Skrull on point
Since you’re probably going to be whoring Doom missiles all the time as your screen controlling assist, perhaps you should reserve MODOK for a combo or setup assist? I just don’t know how you would squeeze him into Skrull’s combos (I know very very little about Skrull)

I like the idea of the barrier/throw shenanigans though. Also to hide inside the barrier while you attempt your throw, so if you miss, you’ve at least got that super armour of the barrier to protect you.

Skrull with the Stone Smite assist seems awkward, as it means you can’t do your f+H wallbounces in combos if you want to extend the combo with Stone Smite.

It seems like there are better ways to set up jamming bomb combos. Maybe Amaterasu’s Cold Star?

It could go like this

Skrull(Tenderizer/orbital grudge) is on point.

He gets backed up by the Doom’s assist and Modok’s assist. Doom is an useful assist character for Skrull in general, and MODOK’s assist can just cover what Doom didn’t. You could use Barrier for experiment with Skrull’s kara command grab, or use ballon bomb for extended combo damage. Barrier is very useful against keepaway teams especially against Sent’s drones or beam assist.

Tenderizer could be used for MODOK/Doom corner/mixup game with their unique mobility especially if they get the benefit of locking their next oppotent in block with Skrull’s assist. It’s very similar to what people do with Cold Star. Skrull’s orbital grudge is basically similar to Ryu/Akuma’s tatsu.

then MODOK’s (barrier/bomb)

If MODOK happens to be next in field, and he gets the benefit of those potienal aerial exchanges. He builds a lot of meter, and a lot of damage from them.MODOK is also a character that can work with hidden missiles. He can either zone , or just extend his combos with them. Which is benefit for Doom …

Then Doom Anchor(Hidden Missiles)

Doom’s gains massive benefits from X-factor than the others. He got one of the most powerful XFcancel reversals in the game thanks to his level 3. Doom can give a nasty punish from a throw, by just teching it with X-Factor(X-Factor can do that). His sphere flame does retarded damage when XFC correctly. He becomes massively faster that his typical tridash, and he does a good ton of chip.

He ain’t the best out there in this scenario, but he can handle himself and support his team.

That’s my theory fighting team of those characters.

You guys should really Try Spencer’s Beta assist it really lets you extend combos

I had a better video but this is the only one I could find you get the general idea. I wouldn’t use drones they are very situational

I’m planning to use Deadpool/ MODOK/ Hulk

With Deadpool i’d just keep them away, and if they got in close and I got them into a combo, I’d be able to DHC trick into MODOK. With MODOK, I’d use Deadpool’s Quick Work assist to create unblockables. Hulk would be mainly for hit AA assist, maybe some X-factor comebacks.

Any thoughts?

DeadlPool/Modok/Task is my current creature, I actually play a very aggressive deadpool, Modok on psionic blaster and Task on Horizontal/Vertical. DHC trick is pretty golden and the psionic blaster assist has a funky delay that actually helps MODOKS spam game if I need to play keepaway I think.

Yeah. I have yet to actually coughgetthegamecough but I really think it’d be fun to use MODOK.

Deadpool would make an amazing team member with low assist for unblockables and the DHC trick.

I’m rethinking the MODOK team idea.

If you replace Hulk with Haggar, not only is it a great assist to get the off of you, he can easily follow up with goo into a combo. Then you have Deadpool for unblockables, and if you put Deadpool in the back, you lose the DHC trick, but gain a good anchor.

Another post.

After a week or so of playing, I’m inclined to say that Balloon Bomb is his best assist. It helps Deadpool’s zoning, and if you call it right before throwing, he shoots them into the bomb for an easy combo, saving groundbounce and wallbounce.

This may sound silly but I’m trying to think of a future-proof team or at least something not dependant on dhc glitch. Maybe x23/modok/ryu? or storm… I don’t know what I’m doing

i’m thinking modok/doom/haggar

probably gonna go barrier/missiles/lariat most of the time. Anyone have some combos with MODOK and a similar setup that i can look at and grab ideas from? nos99 video on front page of combo thread with haggar doesn’t exist anymore and I have almost zero real game experience with MODOK

Check the video section, there should be some good combo videos there that don’t revolve around analyze cubes. Cavemaniac has a youtube channel on it.

thanks bro…put in like an hour of work just on my own and damn this guy is hard to use. gonna stick with it tho

He will take effort holmes, I was going to give him up but I gotta rep the Elvis Dok in Ultimate

I enjoy playing Deadpool/MODOK/Sentinel.
Just such fun characters.

I honestly think that Haggar/MODOK can work…it’s just wouldn’t be as cheap as say Dante/Haggar.

I dunno. You could play keepaway all you want, and then go into a massive combo.
