If you get some time to record jamming bombs off plasma beam, I’d like to see them. I am just aware of one setup in the corner with it. Combo into j.S + beam, then jam.
After a knockdown in the corner, you can do: (back dash + beam, cr.M, L cube, f.H, jamming bomb). It works even after a full relaunch BnB, as long as the starter is kept to a minimum. I’ll probably record stuff for my new team in the next month or so.
what’s good brodoks. So I’ve been using Zak’s team of Firebrand/doom/ammy but realize that firebrand guarantees me corner TAC options, so have tried zak/modok/doom. plasma beam is best assist for firebrand, but don’t know what to use with modok? beam or bomb?
Additionally, anyone have any interesting tech with the duo? firebrand is sick.
I ran firebrand/modok for a little bit. Any hit guarantees a corner tac which is nice. In the end I never wanted to put the time in with firebrand so I dropped it. I would think firebrand/psionic blaster/missles would be the best but it wouldnt be as scary as firebrand with a true lockdown assist. Maybe firebrand/modok/ammy or dante instead but you don’t get the raw tag damage.
Hey guys I have a little question that’s bugging me a little.
Initially my first plan was a deadpool/beam assist/strider team, and I want a beam character that’s not doom (don’t ask why) to use vajra effectively.
So I chose modok and now I have a problem on whether I should put modok on point w/ DP’s low assist or put him second and do a zoning game w/ point DP.
I can’t speak for deadpool but I know that modok start of round neutral is virtually unmatched. I prefer him on point and u hey access to unblockable with desdpool low
This is an incredibly basic question, but I’m out of town for a few weeks brainstorming stuff to lab when I’m home and the answer doesn’t seem to be in the (brady) guide the written tutorial or in this thread. My apologies if I missed it.
How exactly does Barrier assist interact with the character than calls it? Can he/she pass through it (without rolling) or not? I’m basically wondering whether having both characters on the same side of the barrier in the corner would reduce pushblock’s effect on a grounded offensive character, because there are a couple of incoming setups that this would be absolutely incredible for.
Guys just wondering if you could recommend any Nova Dok Shells.
I like Nova Doc Ammy but I’d like to be more original and I don’t like how much Modok’s damage is weakened without Centurion Rush.
I like Vajra as it gives both modok and nova some damage but the lock down isn’t the greatest.
When putting Modok second, his priorities change a bit. Missiles is Modok’s best assist by far, but against a number of match ups, it can be difficult for modok to be aggressive with missiles alone. Normally with Dok on point, his optimal assist combo is Missiles and some sort of assist that covers directly in front of him, preferably a beam or lockdown assist in most cases.
So it largely comes down to one question. Are you comfortable with playing Dok with just missiles? if you are, then Nova/Dok/Missiles is the obvious choice. If you are not, then I suggest these:
I’d also suggest Cold star, but you don’t seem to have the interest. Of those I listed, I’d say Plasma beam and Task arrows are the best for Dok, but Bolts is crazy good for him as well, and it is also one of Nova’s best assists.

His it’s hard to incorporate missiles in midscreen combos for me but I’ll manage.

Vajra is also good, but its lack of hit stun and combo options make it difficult for x/Dok/Vajra teams. I’ve seen one guy use it effectively online playing chris/dok/Vajra. but largely, other assists give modok the combo options that he needs. So normally, I only like Dok/Vajra when Vajra is not is only assist.
Also, Missiles are excellent for combos anywhere on screen. I have a corner carry with missiles that ends in a jamming bomb and a forced air tech into a big shield which is a nearly guaranteed reset.
j.L, cr.L, M, cr.H xx jump, ADF, j. M, cr. L, cr, M xx L cube, S, jMMHS (delay hits), tri jump, cr. M xx fly, j. H xx ADDF, S + Missiles, j. H xx L blaster, AD(D)F, j. S, L cube, Jamming bomb (missiles hit after L cube), F+H xx jump, ADDB, F+H xx jump, ADF, j.S, (delay) F+H xx Big shield.
They will tech into the shield and you can just do M, cr. H etc from there and reset for free. will pretty much beat every option outside of someone doing a hard drive with reversed inputs.
Calling all MODOK players! I’ve been thinking about the team Joe/MODOK (beam probably)/Dante. A few questions though:
Does Jam Session allow an extension after HPB in the corner? For example, Joe Six Cannon > HPB > pick up afterwards using Jam.
What kind of damage can MODOK get off Jam? Can he confirm off the assist, and use Dante THC for an extension?
Does Jam promote an overall ‘lame’ style from MODOK? I generally have a runaway style and would like to preserve it with this team.
“Optimal Joe” is something along the lines of Beam Assist + Jam, and MODOK tickles my fancy better than Strange, Doom or Mag, so I’m trying to see if this would be a legit option.
So, I’ve been through this thread, and unless I missed it, I couldn’t find any Vajra tech.
I want to try Dok/Doom/Strider after a few different Dok teams as I learn him, and I would appreciate if someone could point me to stuff with Vajra. Best I came up with for combo extension is (wallbounce used) f.H + Vajra > qcf.M > c.M > qcf.L, to end combos.
If anyone has any good setups, combos (I could’ve sworn I saw that Vajra allows Jamming Bomb combos, but idk how that’s possible; the only thing I can think of is Vajra > s.S > jump-cancel Jamming Bomb, but I don’t think there’s enough time, certainly not after a full combo), etc. involving this assist, please share!
Edit: Improved my extension, for a free cube at the end: f.H > dp.L > f.H > ADF > j.S > immediate f.H > Vajra > qcf.L > j.S > jump-cancel qcb.L > c.M > qcf.L
I have been considering this for sometime but I was wondering if anyone has messed around with spidey/modok? More specifically enough to know if there are any extensions that can be provided with spider-man’s assists for modok to get more optimal combos. I am still pretty new with Modok so I don’t understand his combos well enough to guess so if anyone knows anything I would really love to know about it.
It looks like Spider Sting is the only one you can do anything with, and even then, it’s not great since it requires a ground bounce.
@JoeBusta I found a quick jamming bomb combo with Vajra in the lab. I remember MoTempest/Link had some videos up for jamming bomb combos with Vajra, but I couldn’t find them. Anyway, here’s the combo.
IAD j.L, cr.L, st.M, cr.H, IAD j.M, dash, cr.LM, L cube, cr.MH, IAD j.S, dash + Vajra, cr.MS, jamming bomb, cr.M, L cube, etc
At the end there, you can go into f.H or do (S, j.H, L blaster, add, j.S, etc). If you are still midscreen, you can do (f.H, jump uf, addf, wave dash twice, f.H, jump uf, addf, dash, snapback). That will corner carry.
