Assistance! M.O.D.O.K Assist and Assist Support Thread

I think it’s a team that can work, but you really need to get creative with it. I know there’s been some discussion about this team before and that there are some level up combos floating around here somewhere, but here’s one level up combo I labbed up quick.

Dok/Frank/Dante order, builds 2 meters, uses 3
IAD j.L, cr.L, st.M, (cr.H, IAD j.M)x2, S, j.MMHS, dash in, cr.M, fly, j.H, addf, S, j.MM, L blaster, add(f), j.S, back dash, cr.M, call cart, L blaster, f.H, L bomb, f.H, IAD j.S, f.H, L blaster, S + jam session, j.L, M blaster, HPB, DHC to Frank, snapshot into hyper

And here’s one more (unfinished) combo idea.
Dok/Dante/Frank order, builds 1.6 meters before meter usage, uses 3
IAD j.L, cr.L, st.M, (cr.H, IAD j.M)x2, dash, cr.LM, L cube, S, j.MMHS, dash in, cr.M, fly, j.S, back dash (when in corner), f.H, L bomb, f.H, jump, addf, S + jam session, j.L, M blaster, addf, j.S, back dash (twice), cr.M, L blaster, HPB, DHC to million dollars, DHC to Frank, into a level up extension with Frank + jam session (I don’t know it)

One last combo! Jamming bomb setup with Cart only.
IAD j.L, cr.L, st.H, cr.H, IAD j.M, S, j.MMHS, (in corner), back dash, cr.M + cart, M cube, f.H, jamming bomb, etc ((st.M, snapback) or (S + jam session, etc), or (S, j.L, L blaster reset))

here is my Modok/Dante/Frank bnb concept in addition to what LTP posted:

IAD j.L, cr.L, st.M, (cr.H, IAD j.M)x2, dash in, S, j.MMHS, dash in, cr.M, fly, j.H, adf, slight delay j.M, cr.M, cr.H, f+H(wall bounce), hard tag frank, S, j.S, knee drop to fall

After that you can either photo, jam session, photo, super, dhc

Or

THC, photo, knee drop, tools H(ground bounce), roundhouse M or knee drop, photo

The main drawback to this team order is that Modok can endup anchor which is not ideal. With the first option, you can dhc glitch with tools dhc devil trigger and hard tag modok back to point and continue to combo though. Tips to remember when using this bnb is that after the cr.m, fly, j.H pickup you have to delay the j.M slighty after airdash cancelling so MODOK has time to fall and hit the next cr.M in time. If that is an issue you can still omit various parts of the combo to ensure a fool proof extension by reducing the hitstun. Only other two potential issues i’m having with this is slight variation in hard tag timing due to character sizes and correctly timing photo, jam sess, photo after the kneedrop. For the latter, you can buffer/cancel the knee drop landing recovery with specials, THCs, and assists calls so it just takes getting used to.

Tried searching around, but does anyone have any midscreen jamming combos with Doom Rocks or Beam? I know they’re pretty easy to do in the corner, but haven’t seen anything like the midscreen missiles jam for Doom’s other 2 assists.

For rocks: (IAD j.L, cr.L, st.H, cr.H, f.H, H cube, grounded aduf, adf, j.S+call rocks, jamming bomb)

I couldn’t find one for beam midscreen.

Honestly though, you can reach the corner with 2 air combos off of most confirms easily.

So I’ve been thinking to Modok for an while now, and have decided to def do it after Final round. I even got a hotbox because I believe it allows Modok to reach his full potential. That being said, Im not necessarily married to a Modok centered team. As in, I don’t care if he point or middle character. Question is which is his strongest position for TEAM VALUE? I have heard different opinions. I think Modok being second gives character with weak damage options the ability to kill with cube tac/reset and that’s something not to take lightly. But would the team be stronger with Modok on point with two terrific support characters?

Anyhow the team combinations I am looking at are

Team Moonz (Nova/Modok/Ammy)
Trish/Modok Doom Raccoon or Ammy (I’m assuming round harvest unblockable should work, even if I need to call cold star to give me more time to setup the timing
Strider/Modok/ Racoon or Ammy (Maybe Doom missiles?)
Joe/Modok/Racoon Ammy
Racoon / Modok / Ammy

As far as Modok point it’s either doom/Strider or Doom Ammy

What’s your guys take on the strongest combination?

Personally, I think MODOK is best on point compared to being in the second slot, but I’m very, very biased lol. So, I’ll list some pros/cons for point MODOK vs MODOK second.

Point MODOK

  • MODOK generally wants the opponent to come to you and run into cubes, blasters, etc. With point MODOK, you don’t have to worry about the opponent getting a life lead as much as MODOK second would.
  • You can easily get away at the start of the round.
  • With good assists, you can get a lot of momentum with good meter build, damage output, and jamming bombs when you get a hit. You’ll also have some really good neutral to shut down a lot of characters’ tools.

MODOK Second

  • You have TAC infinites in the corner that work on characters from Hulk to VJoe and even easier normal TAC combos that still build 9 cubes.
  • DHCs into HPB can potentially let you extend combos further for more damage/meter build
  • MODOK has a XF2/3 infinite in the corner that you can go into off of pretty much any hit. That also builds a ton of meter to spend on HBR loops or whatever later.

I think the best point MODOK teams are Dok/Dorm/Doom, Dok/Doom/Strange, and Dok/Strange/Doom. For MODOK second, I like Magneto/MODOK/Doom and Morrigan/MODOK/Doom. Missiles is MODOK’s best assist imo, since it just does so much for him in combos and in neutral.

As for the teams you listed, I think most of them can work out. Log trap is a really good assist, since that assist is just so hard to shut down in neutral. MODOK/Doom/Strider and MODOK/Doom/Ammy are both great teams. What characters are you strongest with? In the end, it’s easiest to play to your strengths.
