Pretty much every character that is in KOFXI but not in MI2 (meaning Duck King, Eiji Kisaragi, Oswald, etc.). No one else really matters.
This might have been already answered by someone else earlier, but who is the preferred “Iga Ninja”? Hanzo or Nagase? Personally I’m leaning towards Hanzo, even though I want to main Alba/Luise/maybe Duke/maybe Hanzo.
EDIT: Sorry, off topic a bit. Ignore or delete if you wish.
I have yet to beat it AT ALL. I play it on hard, and…well, it’s really hard.
Plus, I have this personal thing where I don’t like to continue in fighting games. When I lose, I reset it and start over. I dunno, it’s a mental thing…I just like to win straight through or not at all.
So, I don’t think I’ll be winning AOF2 any time soon.
How is AOF3? I know 1 and 2 are pretty terrible but did the controls/combo system get any better in 3? 3 looked pretty in the GamePRO magazine when I looked at the strategy section for it like 10 years ago. Man…those were the days. Even then you’d be lucky to see AOF3 in the arcade I think. I’m sure most arcades just remembered that it was the sequel to those 2 crappy fighting games that no one played. People loved FF/SS but AOF…never saw anyone really on the machine at the arcades and if there was there definitely wasn’t a line.
AOF3 is decent at best…it flows smoothly but the biggest drawback to AOF3 is the lack of inspired characters…but I will still hold a tourney for it soon and you know me…I will!!
I have a friend of mine that has the same policy at the arcades.
He believes that if you continue where you died then you don’t really get your tokens worth. While by starting over you could probably get through 3 stages (cause the game should start out easy) or more.
So did SCEA realize that SNK games can sell? First AOFA in May, FFBA in August, KOF XI in Sept., NGBC in Oct., and I heard they’re going to put Neo Geo games on Playstation Network. Well it is a good summer/fall for 2D fighting gamers with a PS2 or PS3.
Also AOF3 is the shit imo. What’s the haps on a side tourney at EVO North?
First thing’s first: AOF3 doesn’t feel like SF. You have to get that out of your system. It’s slower paced and not cancel based.
I have a feeling that AOF3 would be a better game play experience against a human rather than the CPU. Mix-ups are a large part of the strategy, and the CPU just doesn’t fall for mix-ups.
Bingo…I think that’s partially were it came from for me.
It’s also an ego thing, though. When I continue I feel like the computer is patronizing me, saying “here, I’ll give you another chance, and I’ll take it easy on you this time.” And, the last thing I need is Lenny Creston talking to me like that.
In the case of the PS2, I’d say it’s more than likely a case of them just not caring anymore. 'Cause, you know, when you’ve already whored out 147 different poker videogames for that system, what’s to lose with a couple of SNK fighters?
In my opinion I think PS3 was always believed to be the next generation of gaming. (better graphics, sound, power, ect…)
They probably realized that low quality resolution (graphics, technolgy, ect…) like these old games have no chance in selling on a PS3 platform. However, they still see a nostalgia martket to make money on these outdated games.
So really it’s about releasing these games on PS2 while they can cause they have no chance in being for PS3.
I actually prefer 2 over 3. 3 isn’t much fun when matches literally end in seconds because of the absurd juggle damage (Wang Koh-San: jump in anything, f+a, a, f+b, b, df+a or b for a little over 50%). The game is like a 2-D Tekken with SNK characters.
I’m guessing the Ryo 100% combos are juggle infinites. Do they work only on Wyler or are they universal?
AOF2 tip for fighting the absurd CPU: Micky’s throw cannot be teched, and it is possible to string throws together without the CPU being able to do anything. Don’t know if it’s a true infinite or CPU manipulation, but it does help when fighting these demonic AI opponents.
…Yeah, AOF3 is pretty dumb. I get the feeling most of those Ryo ones only work on Wyler, though
AOF2 single player tip: when using Jack, when you do manage to get in, score a good knockdown, and use this to absolutely rape the cpu. Jump straight up, do a light b tick, land, walk forward a bit, f, b, f+b command grab, rinse wash repeat.
