Are you the worst Sakura Player? Vent here

I guess… well… I guess you could always just stop playing Sakura…

Basically, when you’re C+ rank you gain more BP than you lose.
However, when you’re B rank you lose around the same and a lot if you lose to a lower ranked…
So once you get to B rank unless you win like 60% of the time or so, you’ll probably go down in ranks

Sometimes I have similar thoughts to some of you, like should I continue Sakura or not?
Because when there’s someone who’s really good at zoning that’s it… there’s legit nothing I can do… then I’ll just use my secondary Seth/Ryu/E Ryu who I only know basics with and win and its like…
3/4 months of Sakura knowledge and combos can’t win but spamming low forward, hadouken wins everything… WHAT.
The thing that keeps me going is that I actually have fun with her! To see my opponent’s health drain down after hitting them with the large combos and to see them get stunned after 1 or 2 mixups and their reactions when I do the whole st mk, tatsu, st hp, tatsu, st lk, EX shuoken FADC st mk, st hp, st lp, ex tatsu, l shuoken, ultra is hilarious and also funnier to see the ultra do like 30 damage…
Also my win rate is 22.65% but I’m pretty sure that was when I was still learning her.
I wish you could reset the win rates…

This is something I just got through explaining to a couple of people recently.

What happens is … once you hit B-rank (5,000 points), it suddenly becomes very easy to lose BP in diametric opposition to how hard it was to lose BP. The expectations increase, and so you now have to play like a pro from then on. Whereas up until you got to 5000 BP, you lost 1-35 BP, and gained 1-50 (something like that, not precisely). On average, you would gain more than you would lose D-C, and once you got to C+, it was a lot more balanced so that you’d hardly gain much, and hardly lose much. Everything goes downhill once you hit B-rank, and you then have to beat players C+ and up to gain anything substantial, and if you lose to anyone on your level, or below (MOST PLAYERS), then you’ve just lost 30-50 BP.

So, if you can’t beat anyone your level, and up, then you’re screwed. I know… I just reached B-rank with Adon a month ago, after a year of playing off and on, and then I instantly lost 1000 BP, and I don’t see myself getting them back any time soon if at all. I’m not good enough to maintain that quota, and the only reason I got to 5000 BP was from attrition, and continued playing - and because it was so hard to lose BP up until then. I’m going to have to seriously up my game, and practice like hell before I go back to the horrible world of Ranked Match, or just be insanely selective of who I fight (just fight people I think I can beat :P). It’s pretty frustrating.

I lost 100, then tried to make it back, then lost another 100, and it kept going like that until I now got down to 3900 BP T_T with my boi. Humiliating.

But hey - only British cigarettes overly concern themselves/obsess on BP or PP - which I call FP, KEKEKEKE! I try not to obsess on it, and I give people a hard time for going to such debasing lengths in order to win points, but it just is not personally pleasing to me as an avid Super Scrub Fighter IV player when I don’t have the amount of points I’m happy with. Just looks like doody to me when I see anything lower than 1100 PP, or 5000 BP with Adon.

You F’ing continue, dude. DON’T give up on a character that YOU LIKE, and YOU THINK is FUN TO PLAY just because you’re not winning every fight. Practice, come back, and start winning. Be a man. There are no shortcuts to the arts of Saikyo! Go to the trouble! Take the challenge! Having fun is what’s important, and becoming better with follow after your experience and training. Don’t be like these unimaginative tourney*** cretins that select the characters which are considered the most popular/top-tier just so they can ‘always win’ (<_<). Playing a character that suits you, and putting in the effort to be good with your favorite character is way cooler, and better than these Ken and Cammy subhumans I see on Ranked constantly, deliberately playing to their broken character strengths, and taking the easy way out.

I encountered Adon flipping through a Nintendo Power magazine covering Street Fighter Alpha 2 on the SNES back inthe golden years, and it was love at first sight. Loved everything about the character, and he fit me like a glove. I’ve been maining him ever since, and I plan to continue maining him for as long as the Adon-hating bastards at Capcom allow him to be around. Don’t intend on going back any time EVER.

When it comes to playing competitively you need to play a character that suits you though. That character is not always the character who you’re most drawn to. Of course having fun should be your first priority, but going 0-2 in tournies isn’t as fun as actually being on a competitive level with the top players in your area. Sakura is definitely a viable character, but if you feel that her playstyle isn’t something you personally can work with, then by all means pick up a different character.

You know what it is about ranked matches?
I wouldn’t mind losing if everyone was playing well etc…
But when you get scrubs who spam shoryuken/cannon strike/tiger uppercut/jaguar kick/THE STUPID JURI WHEELKICK EVEN WHEN THEY DON’T HAVE EX AND IT STILL MANAGES TO HIT ME/THE EVEN STUPIDER BLANKA ELECTRICITY -_____- etc etc it really aggravates me… I don’t know why cos I’m usually one of the calmest people…
But its just annoying… like they won’t even do it in a pattern they’ll be crafty little shits and change when they do it and as Sakura there’s usually fuck all you can do about it. Worst is Blankas but even stuff like Ken/Oni who do light shoryuken and then you think hmmmm I’ll just punish with low forward, srk… press crouching medium kick and BAM get high shoryuken’d COS THERE’S NO RECOVERY ON THOSE SHORYUKENS -_-
There’s a guy called LIFE MC BEAST who uses Sagat… worst guy to face ever as Sakura.
He will stay back the whole match and when you get near he’s spam shoryuken, grab or tiger knee… unsafely…
So I’ve simply not even bothered to do ranked yet until I feel I’m playing really well.
But yeah… I definitely know if I played another character like a shoto or something my win rate would be way higher but I have so much fun with Sakura once I’m in and messing with peoples head.
When I use Ryu it gets dead boring…
But yeah, thank you very much for your advice/motivational speech sir!

Of course I know that, that’s definitely true… I mean look at most big tourney winners… all top tier characters. Never seen anyone win with Sakura yet :frowning:
I mean, if Uryo changed from Sakura to another character I bet he’d have won tons of tourneys, simple a great street fighter but he sticks with Sakura…
Idk, I have too much fun with Sakura to give her up, what I will most likely do is master Sakura to a certain degree then alt someone else like E Ryu or maybe even someone completely brand new for those pesky zoners/bad matchups.
I mean of course I will try and learn ways to deal with the bad matchups with Sakura but honestly sometimes I’m literally standing there hopeless because there is NOTHING I can do to do anything to this Guile player, like literally nothing…
I’m presuming I need to learn option selects and footsies or something…
But I cannot do option selects, no clue why… not even in training and the only time I’ve used footsies appropriately is against Roses and sticking out my Cr Mk just a few pixels in front of her… otherwise I rarely use them…
Thanks again for the advice!

Yeah, I totally understand, believe me. I have the exact same issues with people there. Ironically, it seems like the worst players in the game are the ones that always go to Ranked Match trying to find easy-outs for gaining points by doing asinine scrub shit like the kind you’re talking about. But let them have their points until they come across a legitimate pro in Endless Battle who they go to show their points off to in a pathetic attempt to disguise their skill level, and pass themselves off as one of, and then promptly get owned by them. All their points will count for nothing once the real pros see what their skill level is, 3000 BP be damned.

And don’t even get me started on those annoying fucking Blanka scrubs.

Not neccessarily. Obviously you’d get the advantages of their bullshit Shoryukens, or something, but just find people like that to be predictable, and easy to beat. I’ll now when the Shoryuken reversal is coming up, and just block them, and punish. Playing one of those characters isn’t a guaranteed way to win, despite what the scrubbies think.

And yeah, playing Ryu does get boring. I use to play him more. I played him constantly in SF2 and SFA, but in recent years I’ve grown really sick and tired of him, and all the billions of other run-of-the-mill Ryu scrubs hasn’t helped my view of him. I now look at him like kiddie character, along with Ken; and he’s been put on the backburner below my other secondary characters. I just want more from the game than just Ryu. And now Ryu is just appearing in every other fighting game by Capcom - ugh. You know… if they want to go ahead and leave him and Ken out of the inevitable Street Fighter V like they were once going to do when they were making SF3, I’d be perfectly happy with that. Make King Cobra the only shoto like Sean was going to be the only shoto - that’d be perfect. Unfortunately, though, it won’t happen.

You’re welcome. Glad I could do something positive for a change.

What - you mean pick up a different character… like Ryu, Deeb?

Wrong. This is bullshit tourneyfag thinking. ANY character can be played competitvely if you actually put in the time and effort to master them. Fucking Hakan can be taken to a tournament. If both players of the highest possible skill level, and they’re using both of their characters to max potential, and past it - and one of them is Hakan, and the other is fucking Ryu … then yeah, Hakan has fewer options; but most of the time those advantages of so-called high-tier characters won’t come into play considering the psychology of the players. In a fight between a top-tier character, and a lower-tier character, all it means is that the low-tier character will have to play more defensively, and try to work around their disadvantges. It does NOT mean that the lower-tier character will lose! It has to do with the player. The best Hakan player could beat the best Ryu player in theory. All it hinges on is the player, and most people are immature, unimaginative, and lazy pussies, so they don’t want to go to the trouble of mastering a lower-tier character, and would rather just spam shit from Ryu, Ken, Seth, Blanka, Sagat, Guile, Balrog, Cammy, etc. etc. Quite often when a character gets a rep for being a shitty character, it’s just because the players sucks, and slammed the controller down when they lost, labeling the character “low-tier.”

I cannot stress enough how full of shit the “tier” list is.

Well in a high level tournament situation, there are some characters that just flatout won’t win, the likes of Dan, Hakan, Guy, Hawk, etc.

With all due respect for all the character specialists, sometimes you just gotta realise you need an alt character, or a completely new character altogether, yes you might get the very occasional tourney where a low tier character gets far, but let’s be realistic, going up against the likes of Justin Wong, Wolfkrone, Valle, Ricky, Dieminion and others, you’re just putting unecessary straints on yourself, believe me, I play Asuka in SFxT and know how frustrating it is when other people shit on your character, and you really want to prove them wrong, but sometimes you just gotta face reality and realise the likes of Hakan, Dan, Guy, etc. just won’t cut it vs the likes of Seth, Viper, Fei, Cammy etc.

That being said, the game is quite balanced so who knows. Just my opinion.

So, you’re just gonna go ahead and regurgitate the same shit over, Fergus, while completely ignoring the cases brought against your narrow tourneyfag thinking? Yeah, that seems to be the most popular method of winning an argument on this place, I’ve found. stick to your stupid shit - ignore everything everyone else says

Every one of those characters you just mentioned I’ve seen played to great effect by very good players who have all beaten all characters higher on the stupid fucking tier list that I can see you are lifting right from. I’ve personally had a lot of success with Dan and Hakan, and I have a friend who plays T. Hawk and Guy who regularly kicks my ass with, and can kick your ass as well. This is just more of the same retarded fanboy thinking.

WildCat (Hakan) beats Daigo (Ryu):

“Gotta face reality” DON’T GIVE ME THAT NOISE! THIS IS TOTAL AND COMPLETE BULLSHIT - YOU JUST SUCK! EVERY ONE OF THOSE CHARACTERS CAN BE PLAYED EFFECTIVELY! Stick to your Cammy, scrubboy. You’re weak.

But I don’t even play Cammy, dude what the fuck?

You’re linking me matches where Bullcat beats Daigo, yes but with all due respect to Bullcat, Daigo would beat him in a FT10 or so easily. And linking a video to a Dan beating random people doesn’t really do your post justice.

No need to get heated, I’m not saying it’s impossible to win with those characters, I’m just saying it’s going to be extremely difficult to do so.

Have we even made contact before this?

I’m definitely one of the bad Sakuras here as I just began playing her recently (yesterday). But she’s quite fun so I’ll stick to her with Dudley, right now I’m currently uploading footage of my sakuderp on my channel to see if I can get people to tell me the bigger flaws I have with her.

I already knew you were going to say this. Just like I can read the movements of a scrub Ryu, I predicted you’d resort to this in a last-ditch flailing effort.

You said when up against Daigo you’re going to want to pick a Sagat, or some stupid shit like that. There. I just showed you Daigo can be beaten with Hakan. OBVIOUSLY I don’t have all the videos to show how many times he won with Hakan out of 10 matches, and obviously you’re going to point that out in your desperation, but you can play WITH ANY CHARACTER AND WIN IF YOU’RE GOOD, and you’d better fucking believe that does my post justice, Fergus in denial.

Oh, and Dan beating “random people” means nothing because they’re not EVO names? This is typical, idiotic fucking SRK people shit. Yeah, I think I might have to leave this stupid fucking board. I guess everyone who plays Capcom games is an idiot. There’s such scum in this community.

Those people that Dan were beating were good players, fuckhead. And they were using characters you say will usually beat them.

I AM NOT GOING TO PICK CHARACTERS FROM THE TOP OF THE TIER LIST JUST BECAUSE TOURNEYFAG IDIOTS SAY THEY’RE GOOD, AND THEY’RE POPULAR WITH PEOPLE! I’M GOING TO PLAY THE CHARACTERS THAT I LIKE TO PLAY!

And you’re saying this is a reason in itself not to play them competitively. Which is complete bullshit.

With all due respect to you,” Fergus, you’re an idiot. lol

Er ok.

You’re an idiot. You clearly don’t understand sf at a high level and your reading comprehension leaves much to be desired.

Sorry for being a dick.

<3

Small clarification for you, Fergus does that too.
Street Fighter: He’s played Sakura and Rose since Super, and Guy since I don’t know when.
Tekken: Asuka main since the days of Tekken 5.
SFxT: Poison and Asuka since launch.
Where’s the tourneyfagging there?

You’re not being a dick, you’re being a fucking retard. That sounded for all the world like trolling. That was so spot-on infuriating. Two of the most assbackwards things that you could possibly say in one sentence. Just kill yourself, and do us all a favor.

That is exactly what an obtuse, hive-mind, tourneyfag-wannabe, moronic dork like you would say. Now go to eventhubs and learn standard procedure for top-tier character Guile like tEH pros do so you can always win, you stupid, stupid faggot.

You are clearly out of your fucking mind since YOU… YOU would say that TO ME.

You are nowhere near my level of intelligence, boy, and my reading comprehension far exceeds yours, you anime-watching, fruit-looping eating little piece of shit.

I would have thought that a person who claims to be of a higher intelligence would be less inclined to use vulgarities. It appears I have made an error with that assumption.

Save us D3V!

Lol.
