Went 0-2 again in my first official tournament. I took it to the last match last round against a bison player in winners. Then I got annihilated by a guy player; he was playing it like it was ssf4ae hyper fighting. I have serious problems transitioning from my tv to the asus monitors. I CAN NEVER LAND MY COMBOS RELIABLY and i practice them at least 30 mins a day.

I thought people on PC would be free. Turns out everyone you face is a stone cold killer who was mastering every single vanilla character while we were durdling around with Super.

I have a really hard time getting in. This doesn’t really just apply to Sakura, but to any opponent I face.
I’ve always played a style where I react, rather than act. I seem incapable of starting offense unless it’s a freebie. Now, when there’s an obvious opening I can do really good damage. For instance, when punishing a poorly thrown fireball or a whiffed SRK, I can do big damage that leads to a mixup that leads to a stun.
But for whatever reason, my brain seems incapable of actually starting offense. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.
A couple of problems I’m noticing:
People keep jumping over me; I cr.hp for the anti air, but they just land on the other side of me and go into a combo. I have a hard time recognizing this before it’s too late.
Also, fuck playing against Guile. Seems like he’s my toughest matchup by far.
I suck with Sakura. I only like her because of this:

Guile is imo her worst matchup.
If you’re in that range where cr.hp will whiff, cl.hp will work.
Learning how to use cl.fp to AA and beat crossups is essential. It’s really an incredible move. My favorite in her arsenal of normals. :3
I wish I would have gotten my matches on stream, just because without video it’s impossible to describe just how badly Ricky Ortiz beat my ass :sad:
I played really well over the weekend actually, about the best I’ve ever played during most of my casuals and pretty solid during my tourney matches, but good lord did I get bodied in that one match…
Well Ricky Ortiz is one of the better players in USA so I wouldn’t worry so much.
Yeah, on top of that noone really plays Rufus in Chicago so I had almost no matchup experience whatsoever going into it. I’m going for a training montage so I can get it back at EVO!
I finally did it, I got to 5000 BP and 2000 PP once again after dropping down to 2500 and being ranked down. Really hope that I am getting better.
Edit: Of course right after writing this I drop down to 4500 Bp.
1 step toward. 4 steps back. It’s pretty demoralizing. I have a hard time fighting a large portion of the cast too. Guile, Balrog, Chun, Bison, Seth, Viper, Dan, Ibuki, Adon, this list goes on. I think I try to block too much and should just let EX dps but idk. I have no solid foundation and I’ve pretty much just tried to pick up on how to play the game well. I’m not garbage, I just play poorly… frequently, and my consistency is definitely lacking. I won’t give up on Sakura, but sometimes… sigh…
Charge characters are almost universally bad matchups for Sak, don’t feel bad there. She’s a pressure-based character, they’re designed to counter rushdown tactics. Most of the rest of what you listed are 1) high-tier characters and 2) matches where whoever gets the first knockdown wins.
lol, I lurk the tier list thread and they’re always praising sakura and saying that she can win majors and it makes me think to myself, “damn I must be really bad then because I lose, consistently, to the most retarded shit”
I’d never win a tournament because I just curl up and die to shit like honda butt slam spam, akuma jump back fireball, and el fuerte rock paper tortilla.
Runaway Akuma, Sonic Boom spam, and any form of vortex are awful for her. The tradeoff is that most can be dizzied easily in two touches if you can actually get ahold of them.

Not only do I feel like the worst Sakura player ever…but Sakura is most certainly [right now] my least effective character. I felt like this when I first started playing SF4…I enjoyed running Sak but I only got dubs with Bison and Guile. Since I took a long break from playing Sak consistently, I can only get dubs with Juri, Rose and DeeJay.
I even played somebody in endless earlier who mained Dudley [who I was crushing with Juri and Rose] but played Sakura as a secondary. We had plenty of mirror matches [I started Team Sakura so after all of the mirror matches we played, I shouldn’t have a problem] and he was killing me with his Sakura.
I need to get back in the lab…its so frustrating not being able to win with your favorite character
Bah, played Sakura for the first time in a while, and first time playing AE in a while too (
SFxT), and goddamn I’m so rusty, barely doing the cr.lk cr.lp cr.mk combos and losing to people that I shouldn’t really be losing to and I freeze up too much online and let people get away with things.
