dont you hate it when you get a stun off c.hp and waste a super bar on EX tatsu anyway? I need to be more careful.
Nothing you can really do about that unless you’ve been counting the stun
At least not as bad as trying to do a Super or Ultra combo but realise they’ve been stunned just as you do it
I share your frustration. Practice is the best advice I can suggest.
(I hit these 99.9% of the time in training mode, but the true reward is pulling these off under pressure).
Just recently decided to pick her up as well and expand my horizons a bit further so Chun/Guile can have a break. I miss playing with her.
(Hopefully with time and dedication, I’ll become good enough to join the ranks of Team Sakura as well.)
Ok so I played against my dude Mr. Slaughter who mains Chun. We did a first to 10 set and he beat e 10-1…! Most of the fights were close, but it doesn’t make me feel any better about this matchup. I’ve always hated fighting Chun, and now I don’t know if it’s a mental thing or a matchup thing.
Probably both
To beat Chun you’ve got to get a strong sense of playing footsies.
Learn to use hadoken, st.hk, c.hk, c.mk and st.lk to their fullest.
You also need to be good at getting in from the air with j.hp and air tatsu, and your okizeme needs to be on point as that’s where you’ll get most of your damage out against her.
Make sure you’re solid at safejumping her ex sbk and also that you’re aware of what options selects to use to stop her backdash.
Yeah. When i play against DeNice – one of the biggest reasons why he’s able to effectively take me and Raven out is due to his solid performance in the footsies/mixup dept. I am focusing specifically on developing these skills as well when using her. It’s starting to get easier, but she’s got some challenging matchups… still really fun overall. Every now and then I drop combos, which NEED to be on point when executing EX Tatsu/Shouken attacks. All in due time… then I’ll feel as if I have earned a place to join Team Sak
Blargh. My execution is horrible right now and I’m finding myself losing easy matches because I’m dropping combos. xP. Can’t wait to get my stick back. Been playing on a Madcatz Fight Pad since I’m loaning my friend my stick, but I find myself doing horrible from the switch to Stick down to a Fight Pad.
I cant play online so, All I do is when the enemy is down is that I FADC the Grab.
Shite… Went from 2100 PP and 6000 BP with Sakura, down to 1650 PP and 5700 BP due to losing connection during matches and losing to a lot of flow-charting players. I really need to learn to punish them and not to do too much fancy stuff with her links. XP.
Man, are these matches secretly being played or something? There any set day of the week/time matches are being held online or is it just people just challenging each other in this thread?
OMG!! The object of the game at the moment, at least on the PSN in Aus, seems to be to learn two moves for each character and them spam them obsessively. Once in a while a creative player mixes them up with a throw… I’m having a bad couple of days, lol.
2 moves? Sounds like Adon’s Jaguar Tooth > Rising Jaguar spam
man, I was so excited when I broke 5000 and into B rank… but now, several losses later, I’m down around 4300 and I can’t seem to claw my way back up to the 5k mark.
well it forces to up your game.
learn footsies and patience.
I often realise playing rushdown results in a loss.
Just take a step back and focus in mind reading.
It is often so easy to exploit bad patterns it makes no sense to take the offensiv risk
I lose to Tiger Shots and Dee Jay.
Also trying to punish Rog’s Ultra I made me eat a headbutt for the loss. I am the worst.
I lose to everything when I play sak except flowchart kens. I am the worst…
Well today i got 3 times crushed by a low pp Dudley. (he seemed to be a good player though)
didn’t won a single round in the 5 Round games.
Looks like i am to predicable, again going for mixups doesn’t suit sakura well against Players with reliable reversals.
That is her barrier in becoming i good player i guess.
Haha, have you been watching replays of me or something? Can’t get past that one. Seriously, any hints for that anyone?
After maining sakura exclusively throughout SFIV, I’m on the verge of dropping her completely for Super.
I don’t want to throw away all the hard work I’ve put in, but I’ve been playing alot of chun lately, and it seems I’m doing much much better with her after 3/4 weeks than I am with sak after over a year.
I started maining sak before I knew anything about this game. I was playing for months and months without knowing/understanding even the most basic of things and whilst my knowledge and skill has definitely improved I still, regularly, do stupid stupid shit with sak because I’ve got a long history of bad habits I need to break. These bad habits return in force if I put sak down and try another character for a few days.
Learning Chun from scratch means I’m not fighting old habits, I’m going into it with a clean slate as it were and despite me being regularly raped at first, I’m now getting alot more wins.
I ranked Sak up to C+ in the first few days after release, I have a 41% win rate with her(compared to about 28 in vanilla, lol). My Chun has only just got up to C+ and I’m alting between sak and chun in pretty much equal amounts lately, but my win rate and points with chun is constantly increasing, whilst Sakura is dropping pretty badly. After just a few weeks I’m definitely on an upward curve with Chun and I feel more confident going into fights with her than I do someone I’ve mained and practiced for ages. That to me is a sure sign that I’ve been using the wrong character, lol.
It does blow though, I love playing sak and winning with her is very rewarding and fun… but it’s such a struggle and I only really get to play online and I’d rather face the shoto army with Chun than Sak.
