i agree with you, the hawk matchup is bad, he has really good range on in his throws (especially his U1 seems to have really huge range)
i am still trying to figure out how to fight him safely.
for me this matchup is going to be harder than against Gief, when people master him.
He has a decent wakeup option which beats crossups, can close in pretty good, a far kick that seem to outrange ours.
he can throw you pretty easy after blockstring.
I see my self when playing against him to reset with light attacks and bait something and trying to nail cr.mk->shou.
everything else feels unsafe against him.
Only good thing is that his condor dive is really unsafe and can be punished easily into u2.
I could possibly be the worlds worst Sak. Not only that, i’m a f’in scrub to boot.
I’ve been playing SF casually since SF2:WW first came out in the arcades (i’m old). I never really played anybody competent, and i never learned the secrets of cancels, links etc. When Vanilla SF4 hit the XBawx i was all over it like white on rice, ready to take my scrub style out on the rest of the online world. Up until SF4 i was a Chun Li Main and my magical combo was j.HK, cr.HK, Legs.
Like i said, i’m a scrub.
I didn’t like the changes they made to Chun, so i started to look around for another main. I’ve always been scrub competent with Ryu and Ken but i hated how popular they were. If i hated playing ryu/ken 8 times outta 10 online, why was i going to be one? Akuma wasn’t the answer either. I like faster chars so i chose Sak over Dan.
I love Sak.
But all of my years of SF scrubbin it up have left me with a lot of stupid bad habits. I’ll jump in on almost everybody, even when i know imma eat a DP. If i land that j. HK i’m going to throw out a cr.HK instead of doing something smart like cr.MK xx Hado or insert b&b here. I will fall for the wake-up DP EVERY TIME, even though i know its coming. I will try to fight toe to toe with a Zangief. I will jump in on a crouching Guile.
I’m learning though. Before i get on everynight i spend at least 30 mins on my execution of B&B’s. I’ll run through some of her trials just to get some links to come out right. And when i get pissed cause a flowchart ken just whooped my *** i’ll take a break instead of blindly charging into the next match.
My PSN is OrionsVantage. When you kick my butt later on, remember, i’m trying to break habits that are over 10+ yrs old.
lol random jump back + HK ken throws a random ultra1 half a screen away from me and goes spinning off into the stratosphere… I chuckle to myself and think “okay, easy peasy… AA ultra should take care of that” but, noooooo it completely misses… In hindsight, I could have just waited for him to land and combo’d into it like normal…
Some other, seemingly easy, airborne targets I’ve completely missed:
Akuma throwing ex air fireball
El Fuerte tostada splash
Big ass t-hawk (seriously… how am I missing, the guy is HUGE!!)
pretty much everyone on a crossup jump arc…
Maybe a timing issue? I hit and cancelled an air hadou and hit akuma for what seemed like almost full damage. Did I just get lucky? Off to training mode lol :xeye:
Man, it SUCKS that I gotta work until midnight tomorrow… I really wanna play Sak mirrors with you guys! cries Oh well, I guess I’ll have to wait until next time. Fun games to you all and thanks for showing up. I know we’re going to have a set day for matches on Thursday, but I’d like to keep doing spontaneous sessions like the one we did tonight whenever I can.
DeNice, Shogun… You guys do not belong in this thread. Whatchoo complaining about DeNice, you’ve got an over 80% win rate? I don’t have that with any character XD My win rate with Sakura is like 30%! Go make a new thread:
It’s that damn cr.MK xx HP Shouoken for the life of me I still can’t get that out reliably in matches. And I’m 99% positive it’s not the lag, cuz it’s such an easy cancel
