ARcades in Taiwan?

U mean that ghetto ass place that used to be around that temple? So called AC?
If it that one ur talking about yes it still exist but they moved to XiMenDing around there. Even more ghetto place has no AC during the summer.

AC still exists, it’s now located in Xi-Meng MRT station, exit number 2, when you get out you’ll see a 7-11 store, the entrance is right next to that store. AC has
regular 3rd Strike days on Thursdays and Guilty Gear on Fridays. You don’t want to come that early for those games, people usually don’t show up until 2pm and play until the store closes at 10pm.

I didn’t know that arcade near Gu-Ting station has 3S, that arcade is so ghetto that not even the local people knew of its existence. I’ll check it out next time I go into one of those electronic stores near by, I live somewhat near that area.

Hello!

Any of you SRK’s still aroudn Taipei?

I’m here for about another week and a bit in the city and am itching to get a SF fix.

I play anything SF (cvs2, mvc2, st, 3s) and just want to get some games and play something that isn’t king of fobs.

Anyone here want to meet up at AC this coming week? Does that place still exist? :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, anyone know where I can score a ps2/3 or even xbox stick??? I’ve only been to taipei city mall to look and while there were hella videogame stores there, I didn’t see anything.

I did stumble across an abundance of wii and gc hori sticks tho. lol.

If u want to look for sticks u can go around Taipei main station(the train station) and go to thouse underground street malls. There is a new one right beside the MRT station but that’s not the one that ur looking for. Go walk around ask around and go to the old underground street mall. There is alot of video game shops there and I think u’ll have a good chance on finding a stick.

I’m going to Taiwan on the 29th of June and was wondering if there’s still any people who play CvS2? Only thing I hear is 3s and while I play it a little, it’s not my thing. Is that AC arcade still open next to that 7-11? I remember hearing that everybody in Taiwan just plays WII which is uh, not my thing again.

Somebody PM me any info please if you know about the Taiwan fighting game scene. Thanks :).

Hey Pieguy,

The fighting game scene in Taipei is primarily 3rd Strike, GGXX Accent Core, a big KOF scene, some Tekken, Hokuto, Super Turbo.

We just had our monthly ranking battle so I’m not sure where you could come meet up. Taking the MRT (railway system) AC is at Ximen station (Exit 2, next to 7-11 and Subway, walk in the alley on the left of 7-11)

It’s kinda ghetto, with some arcade sticks and 1 TV to play games on, but there’s usually some good comp for 3S (on Thursdays, Fridays or Wednesdays it’s the GGXX crew, something like that)

I’m personally a Super Turbo player and from what I gather, most people just play emulators online. If you want to play some CvS2, we got some people who play, but I’m not sure how serious they are at it.

Send me a PM and I’ll give you some contact info, how long will you be in Taiwan?

I know this is a long shot, but did Taiwan get SF4? I know there are locations in Taipei and Taoyuan that at least have a possibility of this…or is everybody still playing kof…=/

Anyway I will most likely be there in about a month…hopefully I will get to meet up with the AC crew…any new news?

As of now SF4 is only in Kaohsiung, just let me or Normalguy know when you’re in Taiwan

Cool man. I’ve finally set the dates…I will be in Taiwan from 11/13-11/23. I’ll send you guys a PM once that gets sooner, I really appreciate it :woot:

I just moved to Taiwan can anyone tell me if theres any decent arcades in Taipei? I live close to the Taipei 101

This thread is only 4 pages long; you should give it a read so that you’re up to speed with what’s here and what’s gone.

That said, it is 2008 and there haven’t been many recent posts, so I suggest looking around. You have free time, right? Check out Ximen Ding, there’s plenty of sights and shops to keep you entertained and who knows, you might even find some decent arcades (they had around 4 in the area from last time I was there)

There’s Marvel in Banciao…but that’s pretty far away and there is no scene. What do you play? There’s plenty of Bemani musics games and KOF if you’re into that. Capcom…not so much, unfortunately…

What games do you play? I assume you are familiar with the Subway System (Know as the MRT).

Go to Ximen Station (the one on the blue line), and get out on Exit 4. There will be a Subway and a 7-11, and there is a small alley, you can go in there and on the first floor you will find a bunch of anime stuff and a TV setup as an arcade. That’s pretty much the closest thing there is for Capcom games.

If you’re down with KOF games Ximen has some machines, but you’ll have to have someone take you. There’s also machines at Guting Station (Green and Yellow Line).

Feel free to PM me for phone numbers or whatever, I’m always down to meet with SRK peeps.

Thanks for the quick replies, I usually play kof and sf. I played alot of sf4 b4 I moved here but i found out that the only sf4 machine was on the other side of the country. I also play some bemani games, but my skill in most of the games I play would be slightly above average

Alright, so I’m definitely coming, and I am also bringing along a friend. He’s pretty good (cheap) at CvS2 and prefers Japanese sticks, which is perfect for Taiwan. I hope that Combie and the guy that uses A-are (the one who went to SBO back in the day) can come out for a few days.

He doesn’t know jack about Taiwan but he can speak Mandarin and I’ll be his tour guide of sorts. Trust me, this guy is cool and a ton of fun and might even provide some decent 3s competition. So yeah, once I get my phone number established upon my arrival it’s on! :woot:

Alright cool so I’ve found the new AC. It’s actually right around where I stayed for a month in 2005 (Loveboat stuff). When I went, I saw the boss and some GG players. I’ll be back in Taipei on Monday; gonna send out those PMs now…

GGs. i had fun yesterday at AC. i forgot the name of the guy we were playing with. even though he told me like 5 times. my chinese is just that bad.

and yes, i have never experienced such scary driving in my life until i came to taiwan.

Resurrecting this thread as I’m moving to Taiwan (Taipei) in a couple of months. I had a quick look in one Arcade in Ximending the last time I visited in February and noticed that there were no Street Fighter 4 cabs :(, only KOF and Tekken. Hoping that another arcade will have SF4.

Anyway I’ll be bringing my PS3 and sticks so I’ll be up for meeting up with any local SRKers for some SSF4!

Feel free to PM me.

Double post.

I was googling and found this thread. I’m a big fan of The King of Fighters, so I don’t have a problem with Tom’s World in Ximen (I’ve been going there on Tuesdays - my day off). I never thought to check SRK for arcade locations in Taiwan, but I’m glad I know that there are other people interested in arcades here. I know of a small arcade with The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match and Tekken 6 near Sogo (no capcom stuff sorry). I also know of a ghetto arcade in the night market in Banciao which was mostly KOF. I didn’t see any capcom stuff there either. The best arcade is Tom’s World in Ximen. They *do *have Street Fighter IV, but that’s it as far as cacpom fighters are concerned. Please PM me if you know of any other arcades in Banciao or the Taipei City area (I live in Banciao).

Like I said, I’m usually at Tom’s World during the day on Tuesdays playing The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match or The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match, but I’m also up for playing Street Fighter IV.

They recently got a boot leg version late February from china. Dunno how they did it, but they cracked the PC version somehow with console characters/costumes and allowed it to take tokens. But I think they also put Seimitsus in there with gates that feel kinda round, but not really.

They currently have KOF(2K2UM,98UM,2K2,98,XI, and maybe some other ones), 4 cabs of tekken 6, Blazblue CS, Arcana Heart 3, Gundam vs Gundam, and some shootemups and beat em ups i think

Oh yeah. Rhythm games, if that’s your thing. Jubeat, DJ Max Technika, Taiko no Tatsujin, Guitar Freaks/Drum something (same company), RF5? and some other dancing dressemup game that i’ve seen around. I think they also got DDR and stuff
