ARcades in Taiwan?

Any news on the bill?

Also, will anyone be here this summer? How is the Super Turbo scene? (non-existant? )

Not to sound like a cocky SOB, but I feel pretty confident with my MVC2 skills, and I’m in Taipei for another 2 weeks, hit me up.

Anyone anyone? MVc2 in TW? I’ll be here til May 25th!

Went by both McDonald’s, GM’s gone. Nowhere to be found.

Tom’s world’s all KOF.

AC moved, but no one’s posting where the new place is.

I need my Marvel fix… someone point me in the right direction. I’ll settle for 3s, anything!

I feel for ya, man…

I know of one arcade that has MvC2. It’s on the blue line, Banciao exit. You have to walk kinda far and I forgot exactly how to get there, but it’s around one of those Shane schools (they suck btw). It’s in one of those gambling arcades on a high floor (7th or something)…the way I found it was by going to a nearby PC cafe and asking the patron girls to help me find an arcade. They were trying so hard to be helpful! I think her name was xiao something, and the other was Tracy. Haha…

Yeah those directions suck, sorry I couldn’t help more…oh yeah no one was playing MvC2 or the KOF machines there anyway when I went. Hmmm I’ll try to see if I can get the new AC location for ya…

The new AC is located in the MRT station ?? (Ti-Mien) I think? Find exit 2 and get out there, once you’re out, look around for a 7-11 convenience store and a subway, AC is located in the first floor of that building, you can enter through the alley besides 7-11, then just look around once you’re inside the building, it’s not so hard to find it.

The 3S crowd is a nice group of people, even though they got the TV first, they were kind enough to let me and Treatment X play some 20 matches while they sat behind us and just commented and asking what were we doing.

Good gameds Treatment, I knew you were having some problems with the sticks, hopefully with enough playing time you’ll get used to them. Oh and I asked the owner of AC for you about the Hori PS3 stick that has all red buttons, he said they have the worst recommendations from the players here, something to do with how the stick was build using cheaper parts than Hori’s Arcade Pro series. Personally I like the Hori Real Arcade Pro series, their cabinet is kind of tall but the cabinet is solid, buttons and joystick are also high quality, but they’re not 360s though, just some suggestions for you.

Oh and your Mag was sick, I forgot how fast he was, you could’ve killed me alot of times when you touched me, but the sticks fucked up your execution.

lol so I finally found the AC place, it is as stated by Normalguy. It’s a ps2 set up to a TV, some Hori PS2 sticks, heavy 3s matches.

My best recommendation is to get your own stick if you’re an American player. I didn’t wanna be rude, but fuck, the stick was driving me nuts on MVC2. And i’m naturally just not that good at 3s, so i couldn’t feel a difference on 3s. But I’m used to the American stick, American straight button layout, and the PS2 version of MVC2 has some quirks on it, I can’t quite put my finger on it. Anyway, BYOS if you’re going to AC, or it’ll drive you NUTS.

lol, Normalguy, my bad, yeah, I ended up just said screw it. I was going to buy a stick since they’re quite a deal here, without the shipping etc. That’s why I asked. And if you look around, the HRAP3, or the red buttons, has a higher recommendation than the Virtual Stick HG… wishy washy actually =|… but nayway, afte this experience, I said screw it, so I just went with the Mas sticks, though it costed more… shrug. =|

i don’t think you’ve seen anywhere what i could do, that’s what was so frustrating at the place! I tihnk maybe… 20-30% of what I can do, and I’m excited to show you some of my own tricks, my own style, but fuck… can’t excute on those J-styles. =( shrug, maybe next time =|

It was nice playing against you, after watching us play, one of the guys watching says next time he’s willing to try this game out again. Eric’s going to have it in his HD and hopefully the next time you come back here, we’ll have more variety of players here.

The sticks ownes you!!!

Well, looks like I’m in Taiwan. I’m primarily a Super Turbo player and although I do play the other Street Fighters, I’m generally not as good.

I’ll be free round 5-6PM today and I’ll be heading over to AC… Are most people there on Fridays/Weekends? Any ST or AE players?

Hope to see you guys soon!

Edit: Okay, I went and saw 2 guys playing 3s at about 6-7PM, then they left really soon after… When do most people go, and are there more stations (with TVs and joysticks)? How much does it cost to play? And how the hell do I even say 3rd strike or ST/AE in Chinese, I only know ???, which just means SF

so is there any place in taipei for some cvs2 competition…
or actually just a cvs2 machine is good.

sup taiwanese dudes.

i dont play fighting games though, mainly in taipei to shop and mack on chicks and dance competitively here.

If you know how to type mandarin you can try to get people to play CVS2 with you at AC. I remember there was one machine in Taipei Station Underground Mall but nobody plays it there, it’s one of those ghetto machine for random people to mash buttons at.

AC is probably the only place, I know there are at least 3 people that still plays CVS2, if you’re in Taiwan already, I can give you one of the guys cell number. PM me for it.

Just a heads up…Loveboat 2007 started and chances are high that most of them will go to Luxy tonight (ladies night, Independence day, etc etc). That means a clubbing experience…with lots of people who can speak English (and they aren’t burnt out English teachers hehe)

I miss Taiwan. Wouldn’t work there for sure, but would definitely visit and vacation…maybe next year…oh yeah there’s no boba in Korea. It’s all gone…except for 2 places that I know, and they both are overpriced and not good quality…=/

???

im From ???

we don’t have anything like that down here…

but we do have ST

i think i might have seen a MVC2 cabinet also but i think they moved it…

anybody wanna play in ???(Kaohsiung)

P.S if there is anyone that know where to play 3S or ST with other players please tell me! me and my brother are bored playing with each other…

?? I don’t think you can find an arcade there anymore that has 33. I do know in ??? there are lots of good people there that plays, it’s got decent sticks, ok atmosphere and the distance from ?? to ?? should be less than a hour if you take the train, might want to think about it during weekends.

well sounds pretty cool but im just a high school student i don’t have that time and money

we do have some ST in ?? i want to get more players to come and play
i might go to ??? and try to find people to come and play

so NormalGuy what do you play mostly!? :wgrin:

NormalGuy check your PMS

i should’ve just read from the last page backward cause i just wrote down the directions for a billion diff arcades and 2 posts later realized they were now gone. Anyway, i play 3s & mvc2. I ran into an arcade in Guting station (get off exit 8 and walk past the electronic store and look to your right, you’ll see it for sure). It has a 3s machine, you pay like 10NT and play for 13 minutes on ps2 controller… nice way to relax.

I think I’m gonna be back in Taiwan for a week in December, but still not totally sure yet. In any case, does Adventure Club still exist in some form? Last I heard, it moved locations but I haven’t heard anything since.
