ARcades in Taiwan?

I was wondering how that version had the console exclusive characters (Street Fighter IV). I just thought they must have put the pc version in the cab and set it up to take tokens. Your explanation makes sense.

Interesting - thanks for the info. I was there early/mid-Feb for Chinese New Year and didn’t see it, so it must have arrived just after I left. I’ll be back in May so look forward to checking it out then.

Fingers crossed they get some official SSF4 cabs at some point too! Wishful thinking maybe…

Anybody happen to play Melty in Taipei? I’m here for a few weeks. I’ve been trying to find a MBAA machine but no luck so far.

I did go check out Tom’s World in Ximen, some Gen player had like 30 wins or so on the SF4 machine. Played some BB:CS even though it sucks (since Rachel sucks in that game).

I don’t think there’s a big MBAA scene around here, it’s just the US and japan at this point. But I’m not 100% sure.

Also fuck rachel

I wonder, what monitors are they using at Tom’s World? If there is considerable input lag, then there’s no way anyone is gonna anti-air Gen’s jumps…
Considering that this cab is bootleg, I’m guessing some random HDTVs are being used, with lots of lag…I hope I am wrong but I’m pretty sure this is the case…

I’ve been itching to play marvel again recently. Anyone still playing in Taipei?
It would be cool to play online via PS3 also, I’m assuming the lag won’t be bad if the connection is regional.

There’s lag, and tons of it. I got shit on by a Gen until i got used to his patterns. There’s no input lag, but there is lag on the monitors. I think I mentioned it, but they’re using Bravo 32 cabs and they are laggy laggy laggy.

Hey guys, I recently moved to Taiwan and will be staying here till the end of August. Is that AC place still goin? I’d like to play some GGAC or MB if there’s anyone here that plays.
I’m currently living beside the Taipei Fullerton Hotel.

I’ve yet to see a GG cab anywhere, but i think there is a scene for it. somewhere. I know that people south of taipei play it.

Same thing with melty blood, if you can read chinese, you should check out the taiwan forums (i can’t read :frowning: ) http://www.gamer.com.tw/

but yeah, i dont think anybody plays melty blood here. maybe a few, but i have no idea how to find them

I have been in Taipei for already 3 years and all I have found have been basketball and crane arcades. Sucks to have a decent job (sometimes).

Anyway, is true the competitive arcade scene is pretty narrow in this country but people seems to round up playing real games or studying. Also most of the kids own a console or cool guys play Warcraft 3 custom campaigns on Cybercafes (/palmface), that’s why most people disregard arcade fun. Kinda better like that, the economy of this country is like a tightrope walker so people focus on working hard.

Even though, I would like to play some SSFIV before leaving Taiwan but I’m kinda noob handling addresses, so if anyone knows some places, have the time to and know where to play call me up before this 20-6-2010 which is when i’m leaving to my country (lol) and I’ll be glad to buy you some credits  and with luck ice cream if you can beat my Guile.

This is my phone, zero nine three two-941-217 ask for Pepino.

If I gather enough information maybe can get myself to the task of making a little index with googlemaps and pics. But got to be quick. Hit me up!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention. There are session for SSF4 every Saturday at Aztec (???17?9F)(Taipei, Renai road section 1 number 17, 9th floor) in the Y17???9F. I think there’s a 2v2 tourney this weekend http://twfighter.com/viewthread.php?tid=2306&extra=page%3D1

good shit taiwan

TWF 7?? ??? - ??? - ??? - Powered by Discuz!

7/25 1-5 PM for a ranking battle (not really a ranbat, i guess a fun little ladder match where you can go up and down ranks)
4-6 PM a 2v2 tournament, Don’t lose cause you have to eat some sort of nasty fish that smells really bad. I hear it’s even worse than Stinky Tofu

And i think they’re having a stream
??? on Justin.tv

So, I’ve been hangin around the arcades in Taipei and the Tom’s World in Shimen now has KOF 13 and Melty Blood Actress Again: Current Code.

Well I left, but they got the new jubeat (they’re everywhere so who cares) and some “REFLECBEAT” game that is also made by Bemani. The MBAACC machine had Happ buttons but they changed them out before I left Taiwan. It seems like there is some sort of scene for MB in taiwan, but that game isn’t going to make money :I

tom’s world has SSF4AE. only ONE machine though, while when i was visiting kaosiung they had FOUR machines in one arcade, with no one playing. soooooooooo lame

though ive been having fun learning KOFXIII and arcana heart 3. gettin my ass handed to me erry day

Were the Kaosiung machines legit, unlike the SF4 “cabs” they got a couple of years ago? (I’m talking actual vewlix cabs)

It’s weird that Kaosiung once again beats the rest of the island in acquiring the newest SF. What is it about that place? Does Kaosiung have a big arcade scene…? Is it just the result of the place being a major trading area, meaning that they get random stuff all the time? It would be interesting if someone could shed some light on some of this…

Just left Taiwan yesterday. Taipei only has 1 laggy head to head cabs with ssf4 AE and it’s 30nt with max of 5 wins (ridiculous price)

Kaohsiung from what i heard has 2 head to head cabs? And it’s 20 NT. But same laggy ass shit “Bravo 32”

Both are 3/5 i think.

i dunno anything about the kaosiung scene. they had 4 cabs, and any of the cabs could link to any other one. i dont actually know anything about arcade machines, but i think they were the same as the one at tom’s world (taipei). definitely felt laggy, id end up double tapping a lot just to make sure moves came out

20 nt in kaosiung, 30 nt in taipei. the 5 win max is retarded too, but i guess they implement that because they only have one machine? pretty annoying to run train on people and have to sit out and wait in line to play again.

really don’t know why kaosiung had 4 machines while taipei only has 1. i played about 7-8 matches in kaosiung on a thursday night, then no one else sat down for like 20 minutes so i just left. taipei one gets crowded starting at like ~6 pm on weekdays, gets crowded earlier on the weekends.

also it seems no one in taiwan knows how to block crossups rofl but everyone’s execution was pretty sick. saw a boxer tear it up with new s.mp combos and a guy doing all sorts of crazy stuff. then i would see them lose to stupid stuff like random blankas and t.hawk condor dive spam and cry inside

also im gonna be hanging around tom’s world for the rest of the week before i head back home. if you see an asian with an afro playing dictator, boxer or claw, that’s me say hi !
