Arcade SSF4 Bison: What tweaks or changes would you want to see?

More pushback on c.lk and lk.knee press… ok… thanks CAPCOM for making the Guile and Chun-Li matchups even worse… BTW don’t make Jab SPDs have more range than they already had cause the shit is dumb as is. TOTALLY UNNECESSARY.

Damage nerf to the Roundhouse button… HEY, I agree with the guy from earlier, that button alone is a threat for 400-500+ damage per match, Bison has almost no comeback potential as it is, and giving a +20% nerf just makes that crap worse.

U2 charge motion… well I’ll probibly be using Ultra 1 a WHOLE lot more now. U2 is only religated to about 4 matchups as its usefullness got thrown out the damn window.

Super. Hmmm That EX meter is too good to waste waiting on a Super, no matter how good the super may be now (full projectile invuln is nice though)

That was a really smart post by SniperwolfOwl.Everyone is entitled to their opinions but you made a lot of good points. Especially the comparison about the Smash Bros. games.A lot of people in that community here have told me the same thing.

Also it feels like Capcom is repeating the same mistakes from 92. A lot of people hated supers and quit because you could have the lead a you lose half your life bar for throwing a short as a footsie feint or what not. Personally it felt like risk reward was thrown out of sync in comparison to hyper fighting. People who stayed adapted but the amount of people playing the game almost vanished.Also I fell just releasing two new characters that are alike 3D model-wise like Yun and Yang is cheap(Honestly, the should focus on the balance between existing characters instead of adding chars) .So is the whole Evil ryu, shin akuma, if those rumors are true.That was okay for alpha back in the day now it’s just tacky.

As far as the Bison changes it’s just 2008.I will land one st.hk and end of story.I gave up on rushing down as a primary stragety with Bison since three months after vanilla came out. It’s not worth it. I will play akuma, elf,rufus,ken ,vega for fun.Tournament time is Bison.

Bison has selective rushdown type of gameplay. He is a mental game type of character.

I agree with AndyOCR 100%. Things could have been worse, his cr.short could have been had less blockstun or could have been shorter. His scissors could have been slowed down by a frame or more(that gives a gap between short and scissors and nullifies the scissors trap twice as worse than the pushback). Could have removed Ex Psycho’s fireball property (Anyone who played Vanilla knows exactly why this is a bad thing). There are a crap load of tools Bison has that if removed or changed would make him crap. It’s not that serious, people. Blanka Ball moves back even less after hitting in AE, why isn’t anyone crying for Blanka?

This is exactly how I feel atm. And I feel the same about BlazBlue, when I have been playing Guilty Gear for years. I am looking forward to MvC3, just so I can leave SF4 and BlazBlue behind me. Here is to hoping that Capcom won’t screw that game up as well.

If only GG came to 360/PS3, then I wouldn’t have to play this shit.

damn i was just about to post this. i guess the U1 command change could have been worse, could have been like guile’s U1.

meanwhile i’ve been trying to gear myself for the AE changes: not abusing the SK loops, more tick throws, U1 for alot of matchups, a lot more st. mk, etc. and it doesn’t seem as bad as i thought it would be.

Hates the changes they made to Bison, but I’ve been maining him since Vanilla and even before that so I’m not stopping now. I will pick up rushdown oriented alt for sure though.

Heh, as a former smasher, I can sort of vouch for what SNO brought up, but then again, regarding SF, it’s not like I’ve been playing the series since ST. The game really hasn’t changed THAT drastically from SF4 to AE, if anything, it got better (imo). Hence why I don’t feel the comparison is warranted. Though if you were to compare the previous iterations of SF to this one, then I’d agree completely.

Purists are also trashing MvC3 for resembling TvC. It’s the same case all over the board.

Now, I don’t feel people raging is an overreaction when we are clearly being forced to play differently (unless you were already a turtler at heart). Playing Bison got less and less interesting of an experience the better I got and AE Bison is sure to make me smash the snooze button. He’s already so bland of a character and now we’re forced to play Runaway?

It’s like I was saying a few weeks ago, it feels like Bison is just meant to be a Dhalsim with shorter limbs and greater mobility.

I actually made the same observation about Bison being Sim with shorter limbs lol.

Justin originally said Bison was a good character, he just dropped him because he got bored of playing him. I think that resonates pretty well. It’s not that Bison won’t be good in AE, but his playstyle will become even more one dimensional than before.

I’m tired of hearing “Bison has strong mindgames & mix ups”. NO HE DOESN’T!!! All he has is cr lk, lk sk, and a stinking st hk. ALL HIS OTHER MOVES ARE USELESS!!!

Here’s what Bison should have based on what they’ve decided to change only. I don’t care about the U2 or his super.

(Standing HK)
If they’re gonna nerf his ST HK then it should be 80 and 120 (not 110); take 20 pts and give 20 pts. Give us a reason to actually wanna use it up close ESPECIALLY since it trades with EVERYTHING. Plus give it a better hitbox from the knee up to compensate for the 80 dmg nerf. It doesn’t have to have super priority but a little more than what it has now.

(Light Scissors Kick)
If they’re gonna further the pushback of the lk sk on block then give it at least 100 pts of damage and I’m being generous, it SHOULD be 110 for lk, 120 for mk, 130 for hk (damage scaling included) but thats not gonna happen ANYTHING’S better than 90 for lk (all his special moves should at least do equal to or more than his hard normals).

(Low Short)
As far as cr short goes if they’re gonna nerf it then let it have a little more range or something.

My personal changelist would be:
St. Rh change 120 anti-air (top hit box) and 80 grounded (or as they’re jumping). If St. Rh is gonna trade, might as well have it trade in his favor.

Low short- give it boxer jab range.
