new sticks for cvs2, dats exciting cant weight to try them out. Jesse do you have battle circuit? thats prolly my favorite beat em up.
I LOVE Battle Circuit. I tried to get it on the rare occasion it shows up on ebay but it goes for a pretty penny. Maybe someday.
You should get Night Slashers or AvP if you can
gg’s to everybody I played today! Don’t forget to post up a link to the results!
gg’s everyone. Thanks for coming all. It was a very nice turnout. The results will be up tomorrow
Oh shit, Battle Circuit! I am surprised someone in US know about the game let alone likes it. BC is definately a fun ass game… like Captain Commado spiritual successor.
Def would play the Hell out of that if you guys get it.
pP
lol thanks guys. didn’t even know the tourney was happening. I was just coming in to play X-Men and I ended up winning a BB tourney!
good day!
GG’z to everyone!
Finals Format
First. The ranbats were a great time. I’m glad they were so successful right out of the gate.
Second. I didn’t specify in the original post, and consequently there was confusion about how the number of matches to be played in the ranbat finals.
I believe Jordyn told me the EVO standard is 3/5 for Winners and Losers’ Finals, and 4/7 for Grand Finals. Correct me if I’m wrong on m recollection, Jordyn.
I searched for an EVO Grand Finals (to see an accepted format) and found 2008 3S Nuki vs Justin Wong. They seem to have only played best 2/3, with Nuki coming back from the losers’ bracket to win the whole thing.
So I pose a question to ranbat participants. After the first event, what should the standard finals match format be? Best 3/5 for Winners and Losers, and then 4/7 for Grand Finals, or a blanket 3/5? Or would most people just prefer 2/3 the entire time?
Third. For those who participated in the BB after tourney, any ideas about the rules now? I’d like to change them from TBD. I believe mentioning that Ultimate Versions of characters are banned would be a good idea. NOTE: This is not about banning any regular characters, v-13 didn’t even make it to any finals.
They were very nice. I’m really digging the new convex buttons. I’m not a big fan of U.S. sticks, but the P360s responded well as far as I could tell. Nice work!
Good game everyone! I had a lot of fun.
Thanks for hosting AL!
And thankyou Nathan for your great brains and genius!
I’ve seen both, now that I think about it actually. What the hell? Anyways, I vote whatever. I think the correct way is 2/3 all the way through, then 3/5 grand finals. But I have seen ST using 3/5 winners/losers, 4/7 grand finals, which is the game we were discussing when I told you that, I believe.
Great games to all I look forward to our future battles. Thanks AL for a great event.
Time for my Seth to hit the dojo.
Who had the NES system modded into a stick? That was too good.
Lots of good games here. I had a lot of fun. Good first tournament experience.
I hope to see some of you guys on Live.
I personally like 3/5 for losers and winners finals. Then in grand finals the person who comes from losers has to win 6 before his opponent wins 3, thus effectively knocking his opponent into the losers bracket.
For BB rules 2 things.

Ultimate Versions of characters banned. They are intentionally god like since they are boss versions of the characters. The easiest way to tell if someone is using a ultimate version is as follows (imho)
Rachel - her frog doesn’t disappear after it shocks you.
Hakumen - his meter goes really fast… I mean really fast!
Ragna - er… no idea :shy: Is his health gain better or something?
v-13 - she spawns two swords instead of one for each D move -
Mapping multiple buttons to a single button is banned. The exception to this being A+B+C on a single button. This is, I believe, the way GG tournies handle button mapping. This allows for rapid cancels, but not for one button grabs, grab techs, and barrier guards.
In the future it should also be noted that most tournies ban mapping multiple buttons to a single button of any kind for all non-arc system works titles (in my experience).
That was me :shy: picture on my blog. Its not perfect. Version 2.0 should have a much better button layout.
Edit:
All the videos I took are up on youtube! http://www.youtube.com/user/radicaledward101
I had a great time, shout outs on the results thread whenever it’s posted.
Also about the finals, I thought it was always 3/5 losers/winners then 4/7 grand finals, at least on the east coast. Whatever format you want to adopt is fine though.
I want a results thread…
I usually like 2/3 til grand finals then 3/5…
Results are up for the 7-11 ranbat and the BB tourney.
How does everyone feel about doing the same thing with KOFXII after the ranbat on the 25th? Just a $5 entry. If not KOFXII, what game? obviously not SFIV, BB, KOF98 or CvS2 since that tournament is that following week. Maybe Marvel since it’s coming to XBL that week. Is it coming to PSN?

As for KoF, I’m not to excited for the new game. If its there I would probably play in it though…
I think 4 out of 7 is overkill. I would even say winner/loser’s finals should be 2 out of three.
And button mapping has no standard yet. There a lot of new players and most tournies just let them do any map that’s already in the game. I’m really not threatened by anyone who can’t hit two buttons at once.
Marvel is coming to PSN later – no date yet.
Most tournies do 2/3, then 3/5 winner’s-loser’s finals, 4/7 grand. At worst you should do 3/5 for winnner’s/loser’s/grand. 2/3 is too random for the end of the tournament.
