Summary:
3 month seasons, 3 tournaments per game. Each game has one tournament per month.

You?re only paying what you normally would to get into the arcade, so please stay and play after the ranbats are finished! Arcade Legends also regularly hosts other tournaments where additional entry fees make up much larger cash prizes.

The list of games is subject to change per season depending on popularity.

Hype!

That is all.

Awesome, I’ll be there for the first one for sure.

w00t our ranbats are starting finally yeaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Nathan talk to them about letting me desing a shirt for the three month winner. I do draw and design really well.

wat about KOF 12 , Tekken and SC4? Alot of us will be playing KOF and alot of us play SC4.

You should REALLY add SC4.

I’ll probably be there for the first and 3rd ones. Second one falls on Evo weekend.

Im down for some of these games. Ima try to not be victimized.

Cool – I’ll see about going down July 11, but that’s my b-day weekend so I’m not sure yet. A couple of my friends from Cle wanted to go with me last time, so if I can get more people down we’ll go that weekend.

Out of curiousity, is a 3s board still coming? If so, would the 3s tourney run on that? Doesn’t really make a difference to me (unless the sticks have problems on the day) but it’d be cool to run on arcade

Chris, that’s my b-day weekend as well (7/10 for me). Not sure if I have plans yet, but I might be up for going.

Will do. Awesome idea.

We’ll see how popular these ranbats are first, and then I might consider adding games. I got recommendations to bring the list down from 8 to 6 in the first place. If a lot of people come then maybe we can have three games per weekend.

I had to distill the list to the very most popular games to start off with, and the only one I’m iffy on is HDR. It might get replaced after season one with Marvel or SC4. I’m going to be asking for player feedback when I’m there for the ranbats and we’ll see what the majority of people would like to play.

They couldn’t get the board at the latest auction they went to. A private offer was put in and it got pulled from the bidding lineup. They’re still working on getting one.

We would love a 3s board so if anyone sees one around, please let us know right away. I’m glad to see everyone looking forward to the ranbats. Hopefully they will take off and we can keep them as a permanant thing.

Actually July 11 is my friends’ combined birthday party (and mine is the day after, so it’s really triple), so I’ll be sticking around Cleveland looks like. Sorry :stuck_out_tongue: I’m gonna try to get a meet-up at Legends going for some people in late July possibly.

If we organize a ranbat for 98 or CvS2 or Vampire or one of the games you have a cabinet for, can we get a prize donation, even if it’s not comparable to the prizes for the main event? Like just a drink for first place or anything would be fine.

I vote Luke and Darius to take charge and run some of these games.

Ha I never ran or kept up with any type of deal like this before. I wouldn’t know where to even begin. I’ll do whatever I can to help out though.

When you’re as hype as Darius, you don’t need to know anything.

Damn I didn’t realize I was THAT hype! And now I know, and knowing is half the battle! :lovin:

I have been pondering matts round robin idea and think it would be cool if realistic.

I’ve never run a tourny but, for instance, if there are 32 entrants:

Break them into four groups of 8 and have players battle everyone in their pool once (a long proccess even with a tv for each group). Odd numbers can be thrown in random pools without disruption I think.

Have the top two from each group advance to a similar 8 man round robin (ties can fight it out) and you will have the top 8 cleanly before you.

This would be super accurate but I don’t know if multiple games per day would be possible.

That round robin sounds nice. I just like the idea of being able to play more people than the normal tournament set up. You get more experience that way (Level Up!!!).

I’d definitely be down for playing cvs2 matches whenever I make it down, hopefully for the HDr ranbat.

Round robin would be nice and probably possible given the early afternoon start time. For now, though, we’ll stick with double elimination. We’ll see how long it takes, how much fun people have with it, and then consider round robin for next week’s event.

Since turnout will probably be low anyway, round robin would be a good idea to get more games in. We shall see what happens; it’s a definite possibility with a lot of benefits.

Whether this would mean pools and then another finals pool (like you suggested), or pools into bracket, or simply just one pool due to low turnout, I can’t be sure yet.
