I kind of like where this suggestion is going if tourneys after ranbats are going to be just for the AL arcade games. Keep the big all day tourney on a non-ranbat day, push the ranbats a little later into the day, and just run the arcade machine tourneys alongside them.
When I originally said 1pm the idea was to have bigger tourneys in the evening, but as things have transitioned to a single monthly big-ass tourney I think moving the ranbats to early evening would be a good idea. What do you think, Jesse?
i would definetly have ranbats for vampire, kof98 and cvs2. I love all dem gamez. Anyone interested in those? haha. Blazblue is pretty titties right now even tho i dont have it. July 11th, four days after my b day im as old as tung fue rue now
All of the ideas are great and it’s really hard to decide but I think I have come up with an awesome idea that almost everyone (even the ladies) can enter and have a chance to win.
After the ranbats on July 11th and 25th I want to do an old school NES, SNES, SEGA GENESIS tournament. It would be all kinds of games including some 16-bit fighters (Clayfighters anyone?) and even some arcade games from the era. I was thinking we would have 4 or 5 stations and maybe 30 games. Each matchup selects a card from a hat with 3 games to compete on and it’s best of 3 from those games. I think it sounds fun and if I weren’t running it I would totally pay to enter. Get some CAVEMAN GAMES action going:) How great would that be? A bit of a change from the normal tournaments but still pretty damn fun and almost anyone has a chance. There will be no Antwon O-like domination unless there is some crazy good 8 & 16-bit hero floating around town. $5 for entry. Normal 70-20-10 split.
I’m in process of compiling the list of games and rules. PLEASE submit suggestions. That will help me speed up the process. I have over 700 NES, 50 GENESIS and 60 SNES games. I may need to borrow some games if you guys want to play something I don’t have.
Oh and there is no tourney after the ranbat on the 18th as I have leave soon after it’s completed. You guys can certainly use the tvs for casuals as long as you stay.
We have our own copy of BlazBlue and we have come up with a solution for our podium to play PS3 games. We will be using the crappy panel for now until we redo it completely. It’s going to be pretty amazing when we are finished. It will have adjustable layouts for most popular fighting games so hopefully we will make it as complaint free as possible.
I should have details posted about the bigger August 1st tournament Monday or Tuesday. Right now we are definite on SFIV, BB and SC4. I’m leaning towards KOF98 or CvS2 for the arcade side tourney. We will have the sticks and buttons changed on the CvS2 cabinet with Happ Competitions and convex buttons. There is a chance of me acquiring a Super Street Fighter II Turbo arcade board this week so that could be a possible option. Maybe Hyper Fighting if I can get the cabinet wired. Or even JOJO’s but I don’t think there’s enough interest for that.
You’ve gotta get Mutant League Football in there man! 2 quarters, level 5 violence, all-stars banned. I like the random old games thing, I always wanted to do something like that at Season’s Beatings but no way we ever have time.
I might be there randomly w/ some non-fighter friends to play games all day, so if we go we would all enter that.
Mutant League Football is fantastic. Does anyone actually have it that would bring it to either ranbat though? It’s not easy to find and I do not have a copy myself. Mutant League Hockey works also
Yeah so, I’m really digging blazblue and want to enter the ranbat. Is there any way it can be delayed until 6? I would also settle for GG at 6 either way, but I won’t be able to make it before then.
Also, I used to be pro at caveman games in my younger days, but now when I play it once in a while, I find I’m a little rusty. I don’t know what other game I would suggest.
Also, somebody mentioned something about doing something for pinball high score earlier. You should just give out something for the high score of the day every saturday on a chosen machine.
Unfortunately the 18th is the only one that I absolutely couldn’t delay til evening because I have to go out of town shortly after the ranbat that day.
I do like that idea with the high score for the day getting a prize on one specific machine. I will have to come up with some prizes and make that happen. Thanks for the suggestion.
Ghaleon: Let me know as soon as you know if you are coming or not. I will have a couple backup games ready in case you can’t. Do you have any others you think would be great for a tournament? I’ll pm you a list of games later today that I thought would be good.
There are plenty of players on Dustloop and some here locally that are going to EVO. They want to play in the BB/GG ranbats, so I’ve switched the dates for the SSBB/HDR and BB/GG ranbats. The only sad part is now I can’t come I have a martial arts seminar, which is also awesome, but ranbats . . .
That’s how it goes. As long as people are showing up it doesn’t matter if I can make every single ranbat!
So far I’m definitely doing a old school NES, SNES and SEGA GENESIS tournament on the 25th. As for the 11th, I think a BB tournament would be a good idea. Should we go the full $10 tournament entry or less since it’s still a new game?
I would do full cause its the most hype game aside from sf4, peope already have some knowledge. and the ranbat is already a bargain, that would make the entire day $20 yes?
I like it. Does everyone else who’s interested in a BB tourney on the 11th? I will wait until later tonight and then post it after some responses come in.
