Any word on ps3 stick support yet?

To say Capcom and Madcatz dont love the FGC cause they run a for profit company doesnt make any sense. Operating a company cost money. They have overhead such as paying their employees for example. Do they you want them to force people to work for free cause you are too cheap to buy another stick? Its just ridiculous how some of you guys think! Do any of you guys even have jobs? Like serious, dont you pay rent and bills? I hope to god none of you start your own business.

@mrroboto you live in fantasy land. Grow up.

There already many solutions to ps3 support on ps4, some more elegant than others.

Yeah, it sucks you need new peripherals or the added cost of geting your legacy item to work on new hardware, but its nothing new. Calling this situation a morality issue is just plain childish.

Yea go to a major and get that bad boy padhacked. There are going to be people at every major providing that service. A Hori fight pro is like 30 bucks

MKX has PS3 stick support and they are not in bed with some company, yet it has one of the worst PC launches and ports ever, non-existant support and communication and it’s abandoned via not receiving netcode / DLC support. It also had Goro locked as pre-order bonus, MKX XL Edition has exclusive pre-order costume, MK9 had on-disc DLC, as well as pretty bad PC version with extremely bad netcode.

SFV doesn’t have PS3 stick support at the moment but the game works even on older rigs pretty smooth, supports cross-platform with PS4, is rumored to have integrated Steamworks mod support and has at least decent netcode right from the start.

Just think which one sounds better.

Fuck off.

SFV can be played on SteamOS giving the game native Linux support.

MadCatz is a fucking piece of shit though.
Don’t get me wrong, the stick I bought from them is fucking top of the line, prolly gonna last me a lifetime.

Whenever I fucking try to order one of their goddamn products though, shit is either sold out or not available in the German store.
Seriously, fuck them and fuck Capcom if they don’t have PS3 stick support. It’s one thing trying to sell controllers, it’s another trying to sell controllers and not actually having enough.

I’ll go with a pad anyways for SFV, as I see no advantage in using a stick with this game. Pretty much zero, might even be slightly worse.
Would’ve been nice though to get one of their fucking new line of fighting gamepads, but fuck this shit I’m done trying to get one.

By this point it’s annoying to hear people say that they HAVE to buy another stick. You don’t have to buy a new stick. You don’t wanna pay $200+ for a new stick? Mod your old shit or buy a converter for almost a fourth of the cost. No consumer is bent over a barrel here (not counting some international people). You literally have several good options to choose from. No they’re not free but why should you expect it to be?

You guys act like Madcatz is starving for business and on the verge of bankruptcy. How is Hori in business? Why does my 10 year old “dated” stick work on my PC? When consoles now are closer to PC’s in architecture than ever before. This defense force is truly hilarious. And the notion that they are “waiting” to tell us to “sell” more sticks. You think those numbers will make a big difference? If i’d knew there was no stick support, i would of pre-ordered a new one by now. A bunch of armchair businessmen here.

That’s some hardcore guesswork on your part and guess what… your wrong .I don’t want to take any ground. What they are doing is wrong you can deny it all you want and look for excuses and someone to blame but in the end you can’t make the earth square.

At the moment I don’t have the hardware needed but I have no problem buying it when it comes out. But guess what i’m not going to give madcatz any money because you know… morals… just morals nothing to do with money or a physical object.

Next time before blaming someone and writing something so stupid based on pure guesswork think twice, your supposed to be a fg player right ;)?

I live in the same world you live in. This is planet earth right?

So your agreeing with me that there is an issue but your saying move on because its nothing new?
Sounds like a really lazy and irresponsible way of dealing with the problem.

Look at the sentence I quoted that you wrote before this one.

I think one of the problems with these fightsticks is that people who don’t know anything about drivers just see a USB plug and think “HEY THIS SHOULD MAGICALLY WORK IN ANY USB PORT HERP DERP!” but I hate to break the bad news to you but that is just not how hardware/software works.

If the PS4 didn’t use a USB port and used a “PS4” port I guarantee people wouldn’t be nearly as up in arms on this subject.

The problem with your statement is, they CAN get it to work. And it works on PC. You act like it’s IMPOSSIBLE to get them to work, when they have done it with MKX and USF4 PS4 edition. But, thanks for breaking the news to me, i guess those other games and pc have been telling me lies. And you’re the one who knows absolute best apparently.

A Brook PS3-PS4 converter is like $40 or a bit more. It’s really not a big deal. I feel like going into the launch of SFV *expecting *to use your previous gen peripherals and getting mad at the possibility of it **not **being implemented is already naive to begin with.

Would it be nice if Capcom allowed you to use your PS3 peripherals? Of course it would. It’s also understandable if Capcom scrapped the idea altogether because it’s a new beginning. I think it’d be silly *not *to explore other options if you’re in it for the long haul, anyway.

How did I act like it’s impossible to get them to work? Nothing in software is “impossible”.

Stating that it’s not as simple as plugging a male connector into a female connector and things should just magically work now means that it’s impossible?

You learn something new every day here at SRK.

Try plugging your fight stick into a PC running linux or OSX. I bet you it won’t just “work” without having to install some drivers/software. We already know that the issue here is at the software level and not at the hardware level, which is why it has to be done on a game-to-game basis.

You can mod your stick or get it on PC. There are other options.

I think everyone is kinda right here.

Consoles don’t usually have backwards compatible accessories. True.

Consoles didn’t used to use standardized USB connectors. Also true.

PS4s don’t natively have PS3 controller drivers. Right.

A freeware driver has been written and distributed, it would be nice if Capcom would include it. Yup.

Capcom might be contractually obligated either not to include it or hold off on announcing backwards compatibility until right before/after launch, or including it at a latter date. Definitely a possibility.

This might be kinda lame, but it’s also business. It’s also definitely not murder. Sure.

If you say “fuck all this noise”, you’re probably better off playing on PC. And not Mac OS or Linux (lol). Yup yup, /masterrace, etc.

But then tournaments. Right. Fuck.

So pad hack a Hori FC pad for $30, or get a $40 converter. It doesn’t really cost that much for enjoying a hobby.

Did I miss anything?

Agreed that things where simpler when controllers had proprietary connections (the original X-Box for example is USB but uses a unique shape for the connector).

This problem actually stems mostly from Sony. They’re the ones who said that they wouldn’t be supporting PS3 controllers but that developers on individual games could if they wanted to. Essentially kicking the can of responsibility down the road. Now any developer who doesn’t support PS3 peripherals is, as we’re seeing in this thread, seen as being anti-user which seems kind of dumb to me when it’s Sony who’s forced this piecemeal approach to the issue. IMO Sony really should update the PS4 to either fully support or fully lockout PS3 peripherals because this half-assing it isn’t working out that well.

Exactly, not a big deal. Which is why they should outright tell us now, so i can shop around for converters or new sticks…the fact they COULD make the PS3 sticks work on SFV is not really the issue; WOULD BE GREAT. But them keeping quiet about it is being shady because they are being dishonest because i’m pretty sure they know we’re asking but are being quiet about it on purpose… and when asked if they would have it during the FAQ on the BETA, they said it wont be there by for the beta… with a kind of wording, it sounded like it would be there on release. Either way, let me know so i can shop around a bit.

And it’s not like the sticks wont sell if people know before hand… What’s annoying is a new Madcats when sold in conjunction with a new game, sell out pretty fast. So that in on itself is annoying as well.

So not divulging information is now being dishonest and shady?

I guess Capcom is also being dishonest and shady because we don’t know who the 7th+ DLC characters are either since they haven’t told us that information yet. They are also being shady and dishonest because they haven’t given us access to FANG or his move set.

I cannot understand some of the logic and thought process that some of you on here have.

Seriously dude, a guy who claims to not be a Capcom fanboy, is sure hellbent in defending them. I bet you defended the whole on-disc dlc with SFxT didnt you? This is not the same as not knowing a characters moveset or spoiling a story, this is about driver support, something that would cost people 150-200 dollars for a new stick…not some damn moveset… It’s shady and dishonest because it’s likely they are in bed with Madcats which is why they wouldnt bother with the PS3 drivers, which is VERY possible for them to do… A company, known for dishonest, shady and bad business with other products, who had great devs leave because of bad leadership, a company that has been nearly bankrupt due to incompetence. If only they give out better and more quality products with non on disk dlc and pay to win micro transactions…and provided a standard to the industry instead of barely scraping by. And it’s not even about that at this point, i made my point already that they should tell us so we can look into ways to play the game with a stick via converter or buying a new stick. But i’m sure your gonna respond how telling us now would LOSE them millions, which will undoubtedly make them go into bankruptcy and it’s classic business 101 and Capcom is much smarter than that!
