go into training mode and pick out characters that you may find interesting playstyle-wise. not many people on here will tell you outright “you should use (character here)” since everyone plays the game differently. but looking at your team though, a character with a projectile assist would likely help wesker and akuma get in to score some damage.
I’m thinking of using spencer with Wesker and Akuma… the reset off of spencers up grapple is fucking RETARDED
I use Wesker (sam edge) / Akuma (tatsu) / Sent (drones). I use tatsu mainly to extend combos (air magic series, dash + tatsu, OTG gunshot xx L tp, then relaunch, level 3 hyper, or snapback (only issue is you end up switching sides after the L tp midscreen), and as a “get off me” assist. Sent drones is still IMO the best assist for setting up ambiguous crossups. If you can ground your opponent with gunshots and get some sent drones out, because they travel so slowly your opponent has to be aware of them in order to block which gives you time to set up front / back or high / low mixups. The most obvious thing to do is to teleport on top or behind them as the sent drones hit but you can also try to get in a command throw before the sent drones hit since your opponent will most likely be blocking.
Akuma is there to use up meter and kill assists, and another nice thing is that all 3 characters can take out entire teams fairly quickly with level 3 x factor.
I’m not gonna lie, sent is there only for his assist, I actually don’t really like playing sent but his assist is too godlike.
In general if Wesker is the focal point of your team I think you need one assist to extend his combos (and there’s a LOT of them with varying degrees of difficulty in terms of their use in Wesker’s combos) and another assist to set up crossups (sent, doom, iron man, task, storm). As far as combo extension goes, I think Spencer (upward grapple) is a great choice since you also get access to DHC glitch
Given my last post and reading this thread, I’m excited to try out Wesker / Storm / Akuma to see if Storm’s projectile assist is a suitable replacement for sent drones. Having access to the DHC glitch would be awesome.
Edit: Storm’s assists don’t really work that well for Wesker IMO. Whirlwind doesn’t do the same job as drones / plasma beam. I guess I’m stuck with sent at the moment.
Hi, I have used Wesker Ammy Tron since the game came out but I took a huge break and I am trying to get back into the game. I ve seen a lot of references to dhc glitch between Ammy and Wesker I am aware that it would be slow to counter. Does the reverse work and also when do you use this? I am sorry for my extreme nubness.
Actually I tried out my old team except used Chris G’s strategy with Zero on point. It’s been working great for me personally if anyone else wants to try it out. Probably gonna stick with this team.
I’ve been using Wesker/Wolvie/Akuma or Wolvie/Wesker/Akuma. It’s a great rushdown team, if not the best rushdown team. However, I keep getting zoned out or beaten down by Zero and the like. It’s incredibly frustrating. Anybody have some tips for my team? Anyone to replace? Anyone who could take Wolvie’s place? This team is a lot of fun but it leaves me with very little options.
EDIT: Looking at the above posts it seems a lot of people are asking the same thing. So if you could just give me your opinions on my team that’d be great. I’m going to try out lots of projectile assists… but I hate Iron Man/Doom, as good as their assists are. T_T
I have a lot of trouble against Zero as well, so I’m looking for suggestions as well. He out-prioritizes everything and I can never find an opening to attack.
I’m wondering which team is probably stronger between Wesker/Taskmaster/Akuma and Wesker/Taskmaster/Phoenix. With Akuma I’m a little more free to use THCs off the gunshot to finish people off, but even with the Phoenix team I generally don’t feel too bad about using meter with Task to finish people because this team is great for building meter and dishing out damage. Phoenix’s TK Shot assist can continue Wesker’s combos similar to Akuma, although the timing is stricter and it’s a tiny bit more finicky.
I feel like Phoenix is a liability, but I feel much more secure with her the last one standing with 5 bars than Akuma last with 5 bars. I am just so bad at Akuma on point, but his assist is great and his beam hyper is decent chip to lame people out if need be. Are there any better choices for the combination of Wesker/Taskmaster than these two? Just can’t decide. I’m going to EVO this year and I feel like playing good competition who will snap in Phoenix will make it worse than the Akuma team, but since Wesker is so sneaky and mobile it might be hard to get me snapped out.
with Zero my usual plan is to zone for a while with gun/assist, then when he inevitably gets in catch him with a Rhino Charge into a combo and make sure it kills him.
My usual team involves Wesker/Zero, and either Spider-Man (counter pick to Pheonix), or Ryu (my standard, thanks to watching ChrisG).
Wesker: Samurai Edge
Zero: Ryuenjin (although I might switch to Shippuga)
Spider-Man: Web Ball
Ryu: Tatsumaki Senpukayku
It’s nice because I can use Ryu’s assist to pick-up people after the OTG gun shot. Spider-Man is nice because of his impossible to escape Dark Phoenix trap, and Zero is a good damage machine with crazy mix-ups.
And with that I leave humbly request people’s comments/questions/critiques on my team. I’m still pretty new to this game, so this is one of my first teams. I’ve seen the power of Wolverine and have thought of making him an alt for Zero or Ryu. So let me know what you all think!
Lately I’ve been running Wesker/Dante(guns)/Akuma… I have to say that this team is about as derp as it gets without having Wolverine on it. if you play a Trish/Phoenix player just switch Dante to Jam session and you’re golden!
The Pairing of Wesker and Dante with just about anyone backing them up is just too much fun
Any thoughts on Wesker (otg) / Doom (beam) / Dorm (pillar/black hole)?
This would only be my secondary team, but I ran Wesker/Doom/Iron Man in casuals last week and was wrecking shop with it…I don’t really like Iron Man on the team but I just wanted a character I knew how to play that I didn’t play on my main team. I’ve been wanting to learn Dorm though…or Trish.
yeah i just started using Wesker / Haggar / Phoenix for online play. its ridiculously good. wesker + double lariat is pretty damn cheap.
I changed my opionion on the matter. Instead of actually have point/assist/phoneix. I think people should stop letting phoneix carry them, and actually have a plan if she dies. Which I know probably 99 percent of people who main her don’t.
I picked up dante as a second because I wanted a solid character on my team and not an assist for me to go nuts with.
Even though my dante isn’t up to par because of the fact I haven’t had a stick. or a copy of marvel at the same time at my house since I picked him up.
I’m actually taking the initiative to learn my team and the game instead of letting a character do it for me. And I hope others will do the same.
Mags/Wesker/Doom now. Mags-Wesker is too damn good, since they can DHC glitch back and forth between each other. they build meter really easy as well. midscreen, wesker is somewhat restricted by having to use assists to get in- in the corner, he can go for those high-lows and doom’s molecular shield keeps the opponent in place. mags’ fast EM disruptor can help him get in too.
I wanna try mags/dante/wesker but I don’t really wanna be a complete tier whore lol. dante has a pretty huge execution barrier for me, but that jam session assist is pretty damn good…
Dante really doesn’t have THAT bad of an execution barrier. His barrier solely relies on his combos, which IMO is way better to have than have a barrier on getting your first hit. He has so many stupid hit boxes and absurd range on his normals (plus a teleport that places you directly behind someone… so add an assist and you have all day left-right mixups) so getting that first hit is pretty cake. So his true execution just comes down to a matter of maximizing damage… and lets be real, this game you can get away with the simple mode combos because the fancy harder ones only really do 150-200K more which is utter bullshit.
So yea Dante isn’t that bad, granted he isn’t the total king of herp derpness like Wesker, but he certainly isn’t too difficult.
Pretty much the reason I stopped using Phoenix after day 2 of using her. Because when I won it wasn’t because I was winning, it was because Phoenix was… so I got no satisfaction in that. Another reason why im taking a Wesker break because the dude is just way to easy to use and get results with. He is the king of low-risk high reward.
I don’t why people still Wesker is this amazing character who does anything he wants.
imo he loses to Phoneix, Dante, Wolverine, and magneto. He doesn’t have the greatest ways to get in. Or keep wolverine out. So you have to be pretty creative and and your match ups well.
Also Wesker is way more than a one dimensional character. Anyone who thinks that won’t get any farther with him. Him and Phoneix are kind of in the same boat. You get results with them quickly so nobody ever puts the time to really learn the character. I’d probably consider myself top 2 phoneix on the east probably because i’m one of the only people who took my time to learn her, instead of crossing my fingers hoping someone will hurry up and kill me.
Yeah dante isn’t execution heavy. I just really haven’t time to learn him. And when I do i’ll see if I can put out a team tutorial.
And forgive how sloppy everyting is I just woke up lol.
I do agree with you Ace about Wesker being more than a one-dimensional character, but I think he’s pretty good when it comes to Wolverine, especially when they are dive-kick heavy players. Then you just gotta change to a bit of a more reactionary player and use his counter moves more. On a bit of a side-note it is funny to stand there with Wesker against a new wolverine player and just shot him in the face from full-screen like 5 times
As for Pheonix, Dante, and Magneto…well I usually lose to Phoenix for free. Magneto just blows me up. And Dante, well I try to switch to Wolverine and dive-kick lol
In the wolverive you have to rush him down if he has an assist. That’s the only way to win with wesker is not give him a chance to start his offense. If he doesn’t have an assist you can sit there and counter anything he does on reaction. That shit is FREE.
But unfortunately wolverine’s always bring there boyfriends along =/
