Tasky is a pretty good assist and I’m currently running him on my team. His H. Arrows assist take some adjusustment and can’t be used like a beam assist. If you get the hit confirm when your opponent is in the air, you have to wait a second before you go for the standing jab. He’s also a character that can hold his own better than Doom or Iron man.
Edit: I just realised there’s gonna be so many Wesker/x/Phoenix teams around. sigh
It’s probably the easiest team to get good with since the plan is really basic and there’s little to no execution requirement.
Incidentally since the topic has come up here and in the Phoenix forum, I find that it’s very easy to put anyone you want in the 2 spot and your results will look about the same. I’ve experimented with Tron there (Renegade’s team) to help my Wolverine problem and I’ve even put Haggar there to help my Zero problem and results look about the same. Generally speaking your #2 character will play weaker than normal anyways since they won’t get the benefit of assists or the benefit of using meter, so you can’t expect them to get too much done on their own. If you were just looking for the best point character who has an assist that’s passable then the “right” answer for Wesker/x/Phoenix would be Magneto or Taskmaster.
I think that this team is a lot more like an MvC2 team (which is why so many people play it). You pick your #2 man not as much for how well you can play them, but more for what they can do to help Wesker (and to a lesser extent Phoenix if you get her in as soon as you get 5 meters; if you follow Clockw0rk strategy and don’t do that, that’s less relevant). Kind of like how in MvC2 most picked Commando over Cyclops on the Storm/Sentinel team because he made Storm and Sentinel better, even if you didn’t know how to play Commando and your Cyclops was good. The extra benefit to Storm and Sentinel outweighed the benefit you gained from playing Cyclops on point. That’s the logic anyways.
So yeah, you have a lot of freedom in putting a Wesker/x/Phoenix team together. It all really depends on what you think your Wesker needs or wants and then you go from there. There really is no right answer for who the best one is because a lot of people play Wesker differently and have different pet setups. So what works best for me (Iron Man) may not be the best answer for you.
I agree with both Viscant and Clockwork’s strategies, but I still feel just in case you do make a mistake with Wesker and he dies your #2 should still be extremely solid. Theres no reason to have one member on your team be the obvious weak link just to serve Phoenix. We’re all humans. We WILL make mistakes. It just so helps to make sure you make less mistakes if your good with all of your characters. So while picking a second character in the Wesker/x/Phoenix team, looking for an assist is a good idea but also keep in mind: Do you even want to learn this character?.
I currently run Wesker/Taskmaster/Phoenix and its working extremely well. I can do sorta the same stuff as IM assist since the arrows are a bit delayed. So mixups work the same and such. Plus Tasky out on the field can setup easy unblockables and crossups with Wesker, as well as being a scary character to face against himself in case Phoenix bites the dust early
I first used iron man wit my wesker team and I think it might be the best assist for wesker. But he just doesn’t seem to work right with me. So I switch to dooms beam (imo the best in the game) even though it knocks down u could stil react to it and continue ur combo but it scales a lot and its harder to use gun with it like viscant does with iron man. Another possibility is modok which I just started to mess with yesterday. His beam knocks them up and away but there’s is still enough time to dash and continue the combo and it doesn’t scale as hard as doom. Imo he is also a better char than IM and doom but the only prob I see now is that his beam can be crouch under and u would just have to completly switch him out if ur playin amy. Also shuma beam works okay it has horrible start up but its still good and easy to combo off and hes a good char
Rock on anyway, if everyone is using the same assist for every character, then we’ll never learn everything about the game.
I’m the ONLY person that I’ve ever seen using Weskers palm assist instead of his OTG assist. I know what I lose by not using it, but I also know what I gain as well.
It’s all up to you, what kinda style you’re going to play your team with. Not everyone has to play the same, that would be boring anyway. There is WAY more than enough flexibility in this game for everyone to fight the same people, and still look pretty unique. (it kinda reminds me of a 3D fighter in that respect)
Any Wesker/Skrull mixups/resets? I’m currently trying out Wesker B/Skrull Y/Ironman A, don’t really like Ironman but his assist helps me out so much. I don’t know who to replace him with, i don’t like Doom and i’m not sure who else has an assist just like Ironman for resets, any suggestions?
Oh crap I didn’t even notice Viscant’s response the other day. Anyhow, for the time being at least, I opted for Tron in the 2-spot and have been very very happy with it.
As for the Viscant vs Clock strategies (bring in Phx when you hit 5 vs dont worry about her till she stands alone), without trying to be biased at all, I think Viscant’s method is far and away the better way. I’m still new to Phoenix, but Dark is SO MUCH SCARIER with meter that simply waiting to change till it’s just her not only seems like the “less good option,” but dare I say downright foolish. The ONLY justification I can even think of would be “raw tagging is too risky.” But that can be worked around I think.
In fact, I mentally think about my Phoenix team in terms of not trying to build 5 meters, but trying to build 10 (or as close as I can). meaning get 5, put dark in my pocket, get as many more as I can.
I use Wesker, Akuma, Sentinel; a proper evil team!
Because of a couple of mixups you can play with drones and teleports.
Its generally a fun team to play
Your team will work, you can pretty much arrange this team in any order you want and it will work fine.
Mag - A/Dante - Y/Wesker - B would work, you’ll have a projectile assist for your point character no matter how you switch up your order.
Wesker - B/Mags - A/Dante - A would also work. Wesker with a beam assist and Dante’s Jam Session is a good match, especially since Wesker has more trouble controlling vertical space than others.
I don’t know, with these three characters it’s hard to go wrong. Those are just some recommendations, experiment and see what fits your play style best.
I mained Doctor Weskmaster (Wesker, Doom, Taskmaster) since the game came out but I felt my Doom wasn’t as good as the other 2. So I switched Doom for Dante a few weeks ago and it’s worked amazingly. Jam Sessions creates space, extends combos, creates mix up. It’s a much better DHC for killing off characters, and they go hand in hand and can DHC glitch into each other for 100% combos. Plus Dante fits my playstyle so much more. I love fast rushdown and not letting your opponent mount a defense plan.
I’ve been debating who I’d like as an anchor for Wesker/Ammy/anchor for a bit now and I’ve tried Akuma, Sentinel, Zero, and Dormammu… and I’m not quite sure who I’d go with. I was thinking about picking up Trish as an anchor as well, and I’m rather familiar with the whole cast so if anyone has any suggestions please inform me :D.
Im sure that this was discovered and discussed on day 1, but the THC with Wesk and Ammy sets up a Samurai Edge reset.
IDK, if there are any other chars Wesk can do this with. Its got to be one of the more damaging combos that leads to a Sam Edge reset, plus the chaos of Oki just adds to potential for a successful reset.
I was using Wesk(sam. edge)/Ammy(cold star)/Storm(whirlwind)
Seems like this team has alot of potential maybe even more so than my original Wesk team of; Wesk/Storm/Sent.
I could sit here and type out countless setups with Wesk and Storm, if anyone wants to open an ear to it.
But as I am new to Ammy. I would like to know what you guys like about Wesk and Ammy as a Team.
I’ve tried your team with storm being on point but I’ll try using her as an anchor. As for Wesker and Ammy, they can DHC trick into each other although the damage isn’t as effective as I’d like…and cold star/teleport crossups are great. Also a decent unblockables with Wesker’s OTG assist.
I switch my team order If I dont OCV with Wesker.
Either I will Hard tag and make Wesk the Anchor or I will DHC to bring Ammy in safely.
Honestly I prefer to have Storm in 2nd position on all of my team, for the DHCs, but Ive been using Ammy in 2nd because of the THC Reset combo.
So in the long run I may switch it to Ammy/Storm/Wesk. But for now I like to at least attempt to end things with Wesk alone
