So for any wesker/spencer players out there, some new stuff worth mentioning has been coming up lately in case you dont browse the Spencer forums. You can up exchange from wesker into spencer, wire zip down which will whiff, then wire zip down forward right before you hit the ground, heavy grapple with light follow up, dash, call wesker, dash again, then get another unscaled heavy grapple into whatever form of continuation. theres a lot of different things you do, especially if you make sure not to use your wall bounce with wesker before you tac, this allows you to get up to 3 unscaled vertical grapples off the exchange just using wesker assist. you can also get 3 vertical grapples off down exchange if you let spencer come in and hit with the automatic medium from tac, into the down forward wire zip, h, up grapple setup. both combos do around 900-950k off a clean hit with wesker, and 600-800k off a command grab ( depending on whether its a heavy you would use midscreen which will take away your wall bounce, or a light / medium grab used in the corner which preserves the wall bounce ).
the best part about these combos is that if you dhc back to wesker not only do they break 1 million damage and kill majority of the cast, wesker also comes back in with his glasses off.
Oh man, that sounds dirty and awesome, and it doesn’t require any super jump cancel cancel vertical grapples, which are hard for me to do on the pad consistently. It sounds like this combo setup would likely take your opponent to the corner as well, so if you wanted to keep things simple after the second vertical grapple, you could just jump forward bionic bomber into maneuvers, then otg h grapple, jumping s, land, vertical grapple reel in punch, jump forward bionic bomber in to maneuvers again, then DHC into wesker if you have the meter or if the character is somehow still alive.
It requires more toying with in terms of how the hitstun works out, but also keep in mind that you wouldn’t be able to use DFA after a down exchange because it uses your ground bounce. Will update if i find anything more optimized / other interesting stuff
Well I was thinking in terms of your up exchange one. Although, is there something weird with ground bounces and DFA? Why am I able to do two of them in the same combo and still have it work each time? Does it ignore the groundbounce limit?
My team is Ryu/Magneto/Wesker. I have Ryu’s Tatsu assist, and Magneto’s Hyper Grav assist, but that’s set for Ryu, not Wesker. Wesker’s is of course, the gun otg.
I love my team, I really do. It has everything. Great supers, great DHC’s, and great combo ability. With Ryu I can combo off of his air grabs thank’s to Wesker, and in the corner, after a Magnetic Tempest into Shikuu Hadouken, if you can get an air grab off afterwards, you can start up another combo thanks to Wesker. You can play this team any way you want, Wesker on point, or as an anchor, any which way you choose is good.
Im trying to find a good team for magneto and wesker as I want to drop sentinel ( i feel he is my weakpoint) and im thinking maybe wesker/magneto/akuma or magneto/wesker/akuma but im not sure if i can get wesker’s level 3 at the end of his bnb with these assist which is what i need, im also considering using trish instead of akuma as well, any advice?
You know, I’ve actually been working on my Doom with Frank/Doom/Wesker. I really like playing Doom and I may consider switching out Magneto for Doom, once I can use him fairly well.
I’m thinking of something a little different aside from using the Trench coat mafia (Vergil/Dante/Wesker). I’m thinking Wesker (B)/Doom (A) /Hawkeye (Y). Hawkeye’s Rag-Time Fizz can take place for Doom’s Hidden Missiles in some ways and Doom’s Plasma Beam is just a good assist. I’ll have to hit the hyperbolic time chamber and see.
doom’s plasma beam assist is super underrated. i know a lot of people use hidden missiles but PBeam works great with Wesker. you can mix with the teleport/assist and it’s a great assist to pair with gunshot to play decent keepaway, especially on larger characters like sent, hulk, strange, etc.
I don’t think it’s underrated. A lot of people do acknowledge the importance of Plasma Beam to Wesker. There’s a reason why Wesker/Doom is considered a top BFF duo.
I need honest feedback (no trolling, no spam and no flamming please) on a good partner to go with Wesker (B)/ ??? / Nova (B)
I had doom (plasma) in the middle and phoenix (tk shot) at the end for the following reset, which worked quite well: L M H S sjc M M H S (A1) {OTG Gun} (A1 Hit) S sjc M M H S (A2) jump (A2 hits = no air throw or A2 misses = air throw) and then move on from there. However, I cannot play Doom or Phoenix efficiently at all. It was a wesker based team where I wasn’t able to fully take advantage of my options among wesker and doom due to me having to save meter.
Now, moving on to the current team. I am comfortable with Wesker and Nova. Nova is a great anchor with pretty reliable set ups and no ABSOLUTE need for assists. Wesker is good anywhere but I feel being a point character is best allowing for better resets/mix ups/meter gain/etc. So, I am looking for everyone’s input on a middle character that allows for good team synergy, a reliable reset option similar to the one above, a good assist, and good all around character.
I am open to any suggestions, and would move my team order/assists if necessary. All feedback is greatly appreciated, and again just constructive feedback if possible.
What’s Nova’s assist? I was thinking Strider and the Vajra assist, but he is pretty execution-heavy. That Vajra assist deals with Wesker’s biggest problem and that’s opponents who can fight from the air. You’re going to have to use a new combo if you’re not going to have a beam/projectile assist: the Cobra Strike/Ghost Butterfly combo instead of the one you’re using. Akuma and his Tatsu assist might work too.
Nova’s assists is centurion rush for decent overhead. I already figured that minus a beam a new combo is a must, and that doesn’t bother me. I can do solo wesker combos as well obviously, but it is nice to have some team stuff to tack on the necessary damage. Advice besides strider? Maybe Hawkeye with kamikaze assist to shot arrows into the air. Tasky with upward arrows even. Just throwing out a couple ideas since you brought up anti air. I am open to any 2nd character really.
Don’t forget to use Centurion Rush to set up high/low unblockables. I was thinking about Hawkeye, but not the Kamikaze Shot. It only hits far range. The best assist from him is Greyhound. You can use that as your “beam” instead for teleport mixups/crossups. It’s fast and durable. You will still have to do solo Wesker combos since the arrows don’t give off much hitstun for assist relaunch. If anyone is giving you problems from the air, you can always tag in Hawkeye and start shooting arrows in the air.
The unblockables with wesker and an overhead was what I thought to be pretty much a given. I will try out the hawkeye idea then. Seems like a good option for anti air, and having that triple arrow assist will be pretty helpful too. Don’t need violent fizz since all 3 characters can otg by themselves.
